for most, travel expenses alone eats what they make on contract. Imagine billing 300 flights a year. 340+ if your main event material, but by then your making good enough money to not even notice those costs.

Travel expenses means hotel and food and rental car. Not flights.
Still adds up. That's why you have shows like ride along on the networks to because they have to share cars to save money.
