Exactly Who I Want Her to Be
As Grayson left the room Invidia completely ignored her ‘husband’ putting him into a state of deep self denial and frustration. She looked down and saw the menacing grimace of Gemini Battle looking back at her.
Gemini had been taking on the form of weaker humans, unable to keep any of them alive for very long. He was inhabiting multiple people but none would ever satiate as much as Grayson had done. But ever since their odd encounter a few weeks ago, he felt himself getting weaker. Every time he inhabited a human and had to expel himself from it he felt like he would die a little bit each time.
Dying was a terrible feeling and he felt like he was doing so every day, sometimes twice. But he wasn’t strong enough to inhabit anyone stronger but these life forms weren’t strong enough to satiate him. It was a vicious cycle and he feared that if it didn’t settle itself out soon that this whol thing might all be for naught.
Gemini
How you feeling?
Invidia
Amazing. I’ve never had a life form growing inside of me before.
Gemini
Oh, how I wish I could experience that as well.
Invidia
I never cared for anything like this. I desperately want it to live.
Gemini
Well, that thing growing inside of you is as much me as it is now you. It would never have survived without you hosting it. It will be the first ever human born Capuan. It is what the prophecy foretold. IT holds the key to our salvation.
Inviidia
It’s a he. I’m almost certain.
Gemini
Then what shall we name it.
Invidia
I have no idea.
She was 12 weeks pregnant but she looked about 4 months. Gemini had a feeling that this baby was going to come to term much faster than a traditional human pregnancy and that the prophecy would be fulfilled much faster than he anticipated.
But he needed to keep her safe. And he knew that the safest place for her was to be with Grayson. He was the strongest human he knew of and knew that, despite the fact that he seemed to be becoming aware of her condition... you know, the not a human any longer one, that he would kill to keep her safe.
Gemini
You MUST get to Toronto. I will do my best to meet you there…
Invidia
I will. What will you do?
The body on the screen dropped and the screen turned black.
Invidia
Gemini… GEMINI...GULA!?!?
Meanwhile Gemini burst out of the weakened body of the host and felt a pulling of it’s midsection towards an unknown source. He followed it willingly yet hesitantly and finally he landed in his destination. He was in a field surrounded by militia, one man holding a gun to his head told him…
Armed Man
Put your hands up!
Grayson
What the fuck are you saying?
Dr. Gilchrist
Oh, Grayson… you.
And then it happened. Gemini felt stronger than he had in ages. He felt the body succumb to him and he felt like he had complete control of him. Grayson Pierce was no more. There is only Gemini Battle. He put his hands up and smiled at the good doctor who seemed to have noticed the transformation even though no physical change had occurred. The armed man spoke in Swahili but Gemini understood every language and when he responded he did so in the native tongue.
Armed Man
What are you doing here?
Dr. Gilchrist
We are looking for Domino Chase.
He spoke fluent in the language as well.
Armed Man
We expected you, Dr. Gilchrist, but this man… he is not even a man.
Gemini
I am evil personified. I am the devil incarnate and if you do not bring us to Mr Chase then I will be forced to expel into you and force you to do so.
He spoke to their internal fears of demons. He knew that the Swahili were superstitious and a threat of a devil consuming them would lead them in the right direction. The armed man nodded and a small white man came out from the woods wearing a similar doctor’s coat that Dr. Gilchrist wore.
Dr. Gilchrist
Dr. Chase!
Domino Chase suddenly grew three times in height and a large mouth opened up. He consumed Dr. Gilchrist whole and Gemini could have sworn he saw Gilchrist smile as this happened and then Chase shrunk back down to normal size. He walked over to Gemini and grabbed him by the hand.
Dr. Chase
Our final stop is one Dr. Egg Pierce. He will be the last to be consumed and the transformation will be complete.
Gemini
As you wish…
Worth The Hype
In the next stop of Grayson Pierce’s Road to Redemption we find ourselves in a school Auditorium in Ontario filled with men, women children and presumably centaurs filing in and waiting for Grayson Pierce to appear on stage. As if pulled out of storage a neon ‘Livewire’ sign adorns the back of the stage in front of the maroon curtain covering the back wall.
A woman steps on stage who looks almost familiar. She has blonde hair, and she smiles far too widely for a natural human smile. She is wearing a white and red dress that fits snug around the midsection and loose around the legs, showing her muscular calves atop jet black high heels. She taps on the microphone on the podium and as she does it feeds back causing the rustle and bustle of the fans to cease and causing her to smile at the high pitched screech that is now filling the auditorium.
She speaks
Invidia
Ladies and Gentlemen… I introduce to you… MY HUSBAND… The NEXT WCF WORLD CHAMPION… GRASYON PIERCE!
He steps out from the back and kisses his wife on the lips before giving her a smack on the ass as she exits. Gemini Battle smiles, doing his best Grayson Pierce impression, keeping the façade seems the best course of action.
Gemini
What can I say about Joey Flash that hasn’t been said so many times already? Well let me start with shit I’ve probably said over and over again because, gawd, we’ve faced each other so many times.
He’s a pussy. He’s a coward. He’s insecure in his own masculinity. He might be a closet homosexual… not that there’s anything wrong with that, just pointing out facts. He’s a Bronie. He sleeps all day, and parties all night. He has no friends other than his wife, who doesn’t really seem to like him very much. As strong as he may seem on the outside, he’s really a weak little boy on the inside. But it’s this dichotomy that makes him such an interesting character.
He has all the skill in the world. He’s nearly unbeatable, and he fucking deserves to be. There are few people in the world that can match him in hand to hand combat, and there are even fewer that can stay standing after a calculated and precise punch to the temple. I’ve been a victim of that blow, and let me tell you something; so far I’ve been part of the majority.
He’s beat me in every singles match aside from one, where Thomas Bates beat both of us… I believe that I got pinned in that match so his record still remains relatively untarnished. Any other time that we stepped into the ring in single’s competition it’s been Joey Flash all the way.
Any time we’ve stepped into the ring in tag team competition it’s been Me and my team all the way. But what the hell does that mean. There’s always the argument that I’m the weak link and he was the strong link on his team. Me, being the weak link was only stronger than the weak link on their team, which certainly wasn’t Joey Flash, the man who defeated Dune. The man who defeated Wade Moor and Jay Price during this historic championship run.
The crowd cheers, clearly appreciating everything that Joey has done in the past year, and deservedly so.
Gemini
Now he’s going to face me, and let’s be honest. He’s probably going to win. There’s a lot of reasons why, most of all being that I, Grayson Pierce, don’t belong in the title picture. I’ve had my shots. I’ve squandered them time and time again.
Time for a history lesson. It was Revenge, 2015 where I, Livewire, got my first shot at the World Title. I had come in second during a New Blood First Blood number one contender match with a wrestler known as Colin Marshall. Yes, I won my first World Title shot by not winning a fucking match. Sounds promising so far, right?
So Ice Beckman, Colin Marshall and I stepped into the ring at Revenge… and it went just about as well as you could have expected. No one expected me to win, and I ate the pin. As usual, because when in a multi man match, and someone eats the pin it’s always me… Grayson Pierce, that is.
Fast forward to Slam 300 where I got a shot at the Hardcore Title. I lost to Steve Orbit, and at Slam 301 I lost to him again. Because Steve Orbit truly is better than me… Grayson Pierce. I was in the War match and I could barely break the top ten. I did good, but it was merely a symptom of my entry.
Flash Forward to now. This truly is my road to redemption.
The crowd Cheers
Gemini
It’s been a long time coming that the title should be around my waist. I’ve been in the fed for longer than most, and I’ve been a staple in every show. Each week I show up and I put everything I have on the line, and finally I’ve been getting what should be coming to me.
Do I deserve to have the title handed to me? Fuck now, nobody does. But do I deserve an opportunity to fight for it, I sure fucking do. I came back a year after my failed attempts and I defeated the man who bested me two weeks in a row for the Hardcore Title when I was just a pup in the fed. I’ve gone and defeated Wade Moor after he demolished me at One, and it leaves on man standing in my path. It leaves my greatest enemy and my gravest opponent, Joey Flash. The man who is always better that Grayson Pierce… who is of course who I am.
I’m not going to spout the same bullshit that’s been spouted the last 6 times we’ve met. We’ve been there, we’ve done that. It hasn’t worked in the past for me and the true sign of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again hoping for different results. It ain’t gonna happen. Me stepping into the ring with Joey Flash and bringing up his embarrassing defeats against two Young and Grimy competitors isn’t gonna work so I’m not even going to mention it.
I’m not going to bring up the fact that when he needed a win most at One to complete the story that he was telling, to finally put to rest the Dune vs Joey Flash feud he was unable to do it, and the fact that it took a match with Occulo and Howard Black for Dune to bounce back to reality instead of the match with Joey Flash must eat away at him deep inside, it must keep him awake at night as he chews his finger nails to the bone.
I’m not going to bring that up because it won’t do me… Grayson Pierce… any good whatsoever.
No, what I am going to do is fight. I have nothing left to lose. This very well could be my last chance at glory, it could be my last chance at this title belt and I know that you want to win this match as desperately as I do, Joey. I know that a loss to me would be the most devastating defeat that you could possibly endure. I also understand that in your mind the story of the next few months is already written.
He pauses as a screen comes down from behind him. It shows crude drawings of wrestlers, generously labeled with their names underneath. The first ones reading Kyle Kemp and Jared Holmes.
Gemini
In the semi-main event you see Jared Holmes taking home the Trilogy Tournament and earning a shot at whoever wins between you and I… and of course, in your pathetic story that’s you. It’s always you, you condescending and egotistical and maniacal fucking freak. So the match is set… Joey Flash vs Jared Holmes. Icon vs Icon. Friend vs Frenemy. The only man that Joey Flash hasn’t committed BK Genocide on yet.
But wait, something else seems to have some up. It appears that Joey Flash and Jared Holmes may have formed some sort of alliance. Could it be true? Could the rumor mills that are abuzz with the current happenings of the WCF be true? Despite the fact that Holmes and Flash are destined to compete against one another their inevitable struggle may have to be put on hold as it seems that they will be teaming up in the trio’s tournament. Quite the unusual pairing.
So in your mind, you see Joey flash, Jared Holmes and your partner, whomever it may be… let’s call you Team Egomaniac. So Team Egomaniac goes on to defeat the jobber team they get put up against in the first round then they go on to face off against… oh say… The DRG. The team that single handedly destroyed Imperium at its inception. The team that forced Joey Flash down a hole that it took him nearly 9 months to dig himself out of.
He stops on the picture of a stick figure Joey Flash standing atop a mountain with an Italian flag sticking out the top
Gemini
And in your wildest fantasy Team Egomaniac wins, and the kicker is that Joey flash pins Thomas Bates to do it, the only man that Joey Flash was NEVER able to defeat. Like Hulk Hogan bringing back the Ultimate Warrior just so he could defeat him Joey Flash has defeated the Mountain and checked another box on his bucket list.
Then he goes on to the next PPV where, oh shucks, it seems like Jared Holmes and Joey Flash don’t get to fight each other for the belt. This long awaited fight, the end to this storied rivalry will have to wait another month because Team Egomaniac is in the finals of the Trio’s Cup and they’re facing off against Team Polar Phantasm, the penultimate in historical significance.
And, as Joey feels he is destined to do, he defeats the legend, but this time it’s Jared Holmes who gets the pin earning ANOTHER shot at the World Title. By winning the Trilogy Tournament and by being the MVP of the Trio’s Cup he has earned not one but two Title Shots.
Which is great because he will need it, because at the next PV Jared Holmes will come up just short off the title. He will get to the very brink of winning just to have Joey Flash steal a victory right from out underneath him. And Holmes, will be heartbroken. But nihilistic as he is he will find a way to hustle his way into a second title shot. This story won’t end, because if you had it your way a story with Jared Holmes would never end. It would go on and on until one or both of you died in each other’s arms, lips touching and hands on each other’s penises underneath the pants.
He puts up a picture in crude detail depicting this act, and keeps it on the screen for just a bit too long. He looks at the crowd and again at the picture, then clicks a button to change to a shot of Joey Flash standing on a grave with a Tombstone reading #!BeachKrew
Gemini
So Holmes gets another title shot, and in your sick and twisted fantasy, Joey Flash emerges victorious once again, completing the BeachKrew Genocide which then will culminate at next Year’s One where a returning Wade Moor fights Jared Holmes in a loser takes a trip across the ocean match where Jared Holmes loses, and fades off into the sunset.
But I have a different story to tell.
That one sounds great, and very well could happen, but in my world… or rather in reality this is what will happen. Kyle Kemp, the underdog the ENTIRE Trilogy Tournament. The man who defeated Dune against all odds, the man who defeated CVC against all odds and the man who defeated me just last week will go in, with his momentum, and defeat the leader of BeachKrew.
In the Main Event Grayson Pierce… who is of course me… will defeat Joey Flash in an epic Match of the Year candidate where he finally bests the man who has embarrassed him time and time again. But there’s no rest for the weary because Kyle Kemp not only has a victory over the Champion pushing him forward but the Trilogy Tournament trophy leading him towards my title.
And in an epic rematch Grayson Pierce…er…me…I will defeat Kyle Kemp and then the story will go on organically from there. The story cannot be foretold so far in advance. Whichever story seems more favorable to you or to the people at home, the fact is that no story can be told past right now.
The scene ends with a promo shot of Grayson Pierce holding the WCF World Title with a smile from ear to ear. But at the podium there is no smile. There is a snear and a look of deep determination as he inches closer to the microphone and speaks barely above a whisper but clear as fucking day
Gemini
We live in the moment. We live in right now, and right now I’m hungry. I’ve got an insatiable hunger that cannot be satisfied. I’m ready, willing and able to take you on, Joey Flash. I’m not goig to go into this match with any expectations less that you bringing your very worst as I bring my very best. I know how important this match means to you.
Despite the outside confidence you are showing, the fact that you already brought fire shows that you know that this is a competition and that you know that anything can happen and I can win at any moment. You know that I’m capable of beating you and it scares you. But there’s nothing to be scared of… except the unceasing and excruciating pain that I’m going to cause you at Aftermath.
Because this isn’t going to be a match… it’s going to be a fucking bloodbath.
I hope you brought your loofah.
Gemini’s Hank Brown Interview
He went off to his scheduled meeting with Hank Brown, and interview that he dreaded to be a part of, yet figured he would make the best of a shitty situation. He felt like he was losing control of Grayson. Some sort of hypnosis put him in there but it was wearing off. He needed Grayson to accept him as his own and there was only one way to do that.
He needed to take away the last known connection to the human world. Gemini had already sent Clifford James to an existential plane, being unable to consume him completely he simply put his mind at ease as though in a euphoric LSD trip for the indefinite future.
Gemini even touched young Teddy in his sleep causing him to take his last breath. Invidia had consumed Kat and there was only one thing keeping Grayson attached to the mortal world. It wasn’t the WCF, it was one short and balding man, Dr. Egg Pierce. And it seemed that there was a natural enemy that he could exploit.
The key was to keep Domino away from Grayson as he was unsure of his ability to tell the difference of a possessed Grayson of a boring one.
And like that he was gone. Gemini floated above Grayson, but this expulsion didn’t harm either one of them. It was odd being thrust out of a human with no harm being done to either of them. The two truly had an ethereal connection that was almost impossible to explain. He watched as Hank brown began, and then he said it…
Hank Brown
Oh, Grayson… you.
And Gemini burst back into Grayson, that same familiar pull at the midsection. This was weaker than the last time so he made the best of the situation. He was going to drink Hank Brown’s blood, give Grayson a taste for human blood. Make him feel the hunger… but the blasted Camera Man hit him in the back with a garbage can rattling Gemini.
Gemini pounced on the Camera man and tore his short off and shoved it as far down his throat as he could before he was again torn away from Grayson. Grayson lay lifelessly on the floor and Gemini resigned to the fact that this escapade was complete. He let Grayson rest… he would need it… he’s got a big night coming up.
The Final Stop
Grayson made his final say after a match at a house show warming up for his match for Joey Flash by fighting a man much less skilled. He needed a win over somebody after the embarrassing defeat at the hands of Kyle Kemp. He needed some type of momentum, and as far as he could tell Joey Flash was taking this match far too lightly. He knew that any edge he could get, an extra work out here, or some momentum may be the edge he needs to take the gold.
About 5000 people fill the arena but they are the rowdiest 5000 people you’ve ever seen. They were the smart fans. They were the same fans that cheer people like BeachKrew because it’s cool to rebel against what the company wants you to like. And they are the few that boo Grayson Pierce because they feel like he’s being shoved down their throats.
Grayson
Ladies and Gentlemen... I can take your hesitation at me being here. And that’s why I have made this my final stop on my Road to Redemption Tour 2016: Aftermath Edition. Everywhere I go I get cheered by the fans, but not you. You all are the smart ones. The ones that follow the first sheets and follow the wins and loss records. You are the ones that understand that the only reason that I continue to get these title shots is because of my outstanding merchandising sales and my charitable acts for the less fortunate.
Some of you may respect my work in the ring, but I would be lying if I told you that I didn’t agree with you in saying that maybe this title shot, so close to the last one I got, may be a bit overkill. It’s never been Seth’s MO to do what’s right for the company, only what’s right for the bottom line.
But the fact of the matter is that I AM HERE. I wasn’t given this shot, I had to defeat Wade Moor and Steve Orbit to do it. This isn’t a scripted television show, this is real life competition and in order for me to defeat those two legends meant that I had to be the best that day, and that’s all it takes. It takes one day of being the best. It takes one moment. And when that moment comes you have to seize it.
The crowd still doesn’t take kindly to Grayson as a chorus of ‘Joey Flash’ fills the smaller arena.
Grayson
Cheer for you champion. He deserves it, and for all intents and purposes he deserves to be favored in this match. He deserves to win this match in fact. He is the better wrestler than me. He’s proved that time and time again in our numerous singles matches. A victory this week at Aftermath won’t erase all the defeats that I have against him… but it will help.
This is about taking a moment and seizing it. This is about being better for even the briefest of moments. Just because Wade Moor defeated me at One doesn’t make him better than me. I defeated him at Slam 350, that doesn’t make me better than him. But for a brief moment he was better than me and I better than him and it was those moments that define who we are.
Great Moments are born of great opportunity and that’s what I have coming up at Aftermath. I could step into the ring with Joey Flash 10 times and he may win 9 of those times, but it will be this one time, it will be this moment that matters the most… fuck,,, we HAVE stepped into the ring with each other all those times and he HAS defeated me all those times. But all it takes is one time, one moment.
We are all defined by a series of moments. Our LIVES are a series of moments, all of them leading to this one. Leading to this match at Aftermath where I can finally complete my Road to Redemption and finally take claim to the greatest prize in all of wrestling. It will only take a brief moment. It will only take 3 seconds and I can finally put to rest the critics that say that I’m not big enough, or I’m not good enough to be where I am.
I’m not looking to shut you up. I’m looking to prove you wrong. I’m looking to earn your respect. And that can’t be done in defeat. I understand that it matters whther you win or lose, despite what the peple say, despite what my record proves it does in fact matter whether you win or lose because there is no such thing as a moral victory. This week will not end in a moral victory for either of us. This week will end with one man standing in the center of the ring with their hand rasied and the other man defeated, a shell of his former self.
And the loser will rise because both of us are champions in our own right. Both of us have suffered in the face of adversity and both of us have recovered. Both of us deserve to be champion and it will be decided by a single moment… it will be decided by 3 seconds.
1…
We fight
2…
We bleed
3…
He drops the mic and the crowd’s boos have softened. He hasn’t won them over yet. There’s still a lot more to do to win them over. But he has started.
Good Luck Joey
