The scene opens once again in Downtown San Diego as the Vice siblings are riding in Jimmy’s white escalade. Today, however, the setting seems to match Danny’s latest feelings. Three WCF bouts, and the best he has faired is a no contest hardcore match with Skyler Striker. The overcast clouds cast a grey shadow over Danny today, as dark clouds can be seen just before the horizon, signaling a night of rain, lightning, and thunder.
Atreyu plays quietly in the car as Jimmy drives. He is dressed in a backwards black Padres baseball cap, white tanktop and khaki shorts. Janie is asleep in the back seat of the car, still tired from the flight home earlier in the week after Danny’s several day stay in the hospital following Slam last week. Danny sits in the front seat of the escalade, wearing his black leather jacket, blue jeans, and a red OBEY shirt with the face of the immortal Andre the Giant. He wears a bandana on his head to cover the his wounds and bandages after his latest bout with Striker. His Von Zipper sunglasses are on even though the sun is not out, probably to cover his two black eyes from public view. Although Danny looks downtrodden and beaten, Jimmy’s spirits have definitely not been broken.
Jimmy: Come on Danny. You’re the Vagrant! So what if your first three matches led to two losses and a draw! So what if Skyler Striker totally has the upperhand right now after putting you through a table and into the hospital for two nights. I mean who cares, right? Right!?!?
Danny sits still. His head, resting on his hand next to the window does not even move. He speaks slowly to his younger brother. Despite Jimmy’s best efforts, Danny wishes nothing more than to go eat a healthy meal and get back to training for his match with Reckless Jack this weekend.
Danny: Jimmy…Exactly what part of that little pep talk you just gave did you think would actually make The Vagrant feel any better? Did you think he would cheer up at the part about losing his first two matches? Or maybe it was the reminder of going through the table that has given him one of the worst headaches of his life for the past 4 days!
Danny’s shouting makes Janie toss and turn in the backseat, but does not awaken her. After several seconds of silence, Jimmy responds…
The part about the draw?
Danny lifts both hands as if to strangle his younger brother, but instead just covers his eyes and puts his head down in front of him in disgust. Jimmy turns back forward and continues to drive through the downtown traffic.
Just no more talking Jimmy and keep your eyes on the…
The car comes to a screeching halt, causing Janie to awaken in the back and Danny to slam his head into the dashboard. He grabs his head and turns in a fit of rage to Jimmy.
What the!?!? God dammit Jimmy! Why’d you hit the breaks so ha…
Look, this big ass truck just turned in front of us and stopped short. I can’t see if it’s a dude or chick driving it because the windows are all tinted.
Well go check on it while The Vagrant looks for some aspirin in the glove compartment. If it’s some paparazzi looking for pictures of The Vagrant, make sure they know to never try it like this again.
Jimmy climbs down from the front seat of the Escalade and heads over to the other vehicle. He pounds on the window while Danny waits from the front seat of the Escalade, slightly ducking down to insure that no one gets a good photo opportunity of The Vagrant in his current state. Jimmy starts to pound his right fist into his left hand, but is hit by the front door swinging open.
Holy shit! How the hell did he find us?
Skyler Striker leaps out of the front seat of the truck as Jimmy stumbles back, sledgehammer in hand! He hits Jimmy once in the guy with the vicious blow and then drills Jimmy with The Last Card.
Janie get up, we’re getting out of here.
Striker runs towards the Vice’s escalade as Danny hops into the front seat and throws the car into drive. As Danny speeds of, Striker takes one huge swing with the sledgehammer and shatters the front windshield. Danny and Janie are able to swerve around Striker’s truck, but they left poor Jimmy behind...
