The scene opens to a dark room, nothing can be seen, it’s dead silent, a grave yard would seem like a frat party compared to this. Then a pound on a massive drum is heard, then another, Kabuki Gomen-jyo begins to play. As this happens a screen playing black and white footage of the Japanese army bombing Pearl Harbor plays on a large screen. The light from the screen shows two silhouettes sitting in front of it. One is a large, robust man, the other is smaller and much slimmer.
Nagasaki: These are the drums of war. This is what I will bring to the ring at 15. This international title will be mine.
Nobunaga: Just as our proud ancestors brought war to America, we bring war to the ring.
The footage on the screen behind them fades to black, dead silence is all that can be heard again, darkness is all that can be seen. The screen comes to life again as it plays black and white footage of the Japanese concurring Nanjing, Japanese victory flags wave in the background as the Chinese flag burns. People are being pushed into what appear to be camps, some are being shot. The Japanese begin to do their victory dance through the streets of Nanjing as their new prisoners watch in horror. Again Kabuki Gomen-Jyo is all that can be heard.
(This takes place in Japanese with English subtitles)
Nagasaki: Kira Sakazaki, we share the same blood being from our great nation of Japan, and it is great is it not? The architecture, the food, the people. So I ask you why you dare bring such shame upon a great nation that birthed you and nurtured you. You won the international title how many years ago? Not a soul has seen you since and you return now too defend your title. You bring shame upon this great sport, a TRUE athlete would have continued to fight and would show the world what a great nation like Japan could do! But instead you hid like the coward you are.
When I strip that title from you I will be the one to show the world what Japan and sumo can do! I will be the one who brings honor back to our proud nation. It will be I who retires the International Title Champion, or shall I say the EX international Title Champion. I enjoy all life has to offer me and there are few things that truly get under my skin. A false champion who sullies the name of this amazing sport is at the top of my list. And that is why I will break you, because you are not fit to hold that title or even be a competitor in this company. Even if I don’t win I will make sure that you will be retired, not as a champion who came and defended his title, as a loser who should have given title back to the company and disappeared into the suicide forest never to be seen again.
Mr. Nobunaga: You are a disgrace to the name of Japan Kira. There is nothing that you will be able to do to defeat Nagasaki in the ring. You have been out of commission for three years and you now show up for one last hurrah before you go out for good. But that’s just it, you have already gone out for good and this, this last hurrah, is just a failed whisper that is going to lead to your demise. You are going up against three other opponents who already want to rip you to shreds, but more importantly you are going to face Nagasaki, a fellow country man who has honor to protect in the ring, honor that you have lost with your absence. The best part of this is that you have no friends in the ring anymore, no one to come to your aid as you are crushed beneath the weight of your defeat at the hands of your superiors.
Mr. Nobunaga lights a match and pulls it close to his face to ignite his cigarette, the soft orange glow breaks through the shadows and reveals the bottom left portion of his face. The smoke is seen as a silhouette in front of the screen as it continues to show the violent occupation of Nanjing. The Drums begin to play faster as the video becomes more graphic.
Nobunaga: You cannot hope to stop us with such a long absence. You are out of practice, you are a dog dying of cancer who needs to be taken out back, have gun placed against the back of your head, and have someone pull the trigger to end your misery. It’s actually a good thing that you came back for one more trial because now you have met your executioners.
The screen fades to black along with the music. The only thing that can be seen is the orange glow coming from the lit cigarette that shows up to the eye of Mr. Nobunaga when he puffs on it. He muffles the light with soft smoke he exhales through his nose.
Once again the screen shows black and white footage but this time it’s not footage of a Japanese victory its footage from the Internet Title match. It’s a loop of ZMac, the current Internet Champion, pinning Punkin Caliban. The drums of war begin to play again. The unmoving figures still loom ominously in front of the massive screen.
(These take place in English)
Nagasaki: Caliban, you wish to insight fear into your opponent, but I don’t fear you. I pity you. I pity everything about you. You wear a mask that looks like something out of the watchmen if they had a budget of $4. You cower behind that mask so you don’t need to face what you really are. A petulant child, too afraid to grow up. Everything you do and are, it shows that you never grew up. You try so hard to be cool and popular but never will be. It’s as if you decided to join this company not for the glory, not for the honor of the sport, hell not even for the money. You joined because you thought and you hoped so hard that it would finally make you cool and excepted. You make fun of these “Millennial metro sexual twats,” but take a long look at yourself, you appeal to them, you want to be like them so someone in your life will finally except you, but they never will.
No one will ever accept you and that’s why you keep doing what you do isn’t It.? Do you know what you are? I am beloved in my country because I represent its proud culture, because I am humble and because I am deep rooted in its tradition. .if you represent your countries culture then it should be wiped of the face of the map as it is just an ugly smear on the worlds history. Here is the thing Caliban, you are a side show freak, a mere distraction for real sportsman like myself. You are keys being jingled in front of an infant’s face. That’s the difference between us. I am a raging fire, the great typhoon, and you are nothing but a simple candle who is going to be put out for good.
Nobunaga puts his cigarette out in an ash tray only visible for a moment as the glow dies in side it. Another match is lit and pulled to the face of the stern yakuza to light another cigarette. As the orange light hits the cigarette, a feint word can be seen written on it. It reads CALIBAN.
Mr. Nobunaga: This cigarette represents how long we consider you a threat and one I have finished putting this fine tobacco in my lungs, you will be over and I will hope to never see or hear from you ever again. What happened to you Caliban? I have looked at your shoddy history and all I can think is how you are such wasted potential. You had the ability to raise to the top, but now I consider you a bum on the street with a needle in his arm. You are just someone’s failure child who grew up to be a sideshow freak, and never the main event. The only reason that people don’t laugh at you in the street is because they feel bad for you. You are someone that people look at and think they can help, but you can’t fix what was broken from the beginning. Tell me how much did those three skin grafts hurt? The, what is it, eight screws? A couple metal bars? All of that so you could make a failed attempt at a wrestling carrier. Even I almost pity you, but your attempt to be edgy makes all that pity sour and turn to hate.
The cigarette is almost completely burned to the filter and all that remains is half of the A and the N. The video in the back still playing the moment that Caliban lost control of his match and is pinned my ZMac. Nobunaga takes one final drag on his cigarette, burning it to the filter and exhales another silhouette of smoke.
Mr. Nobunaga: You are nothing to us.
The film in the back fades out along with the music. Darkness again, no soft orange light of a cigarette illuminating a part of Mr. Nobunaga’s face. Then another black and white footage begins to play, this time it is of an old samurai movie. The samurai is surrounded by many foes and just as the war drums begin to play again, the samurai begins to cut down the thirty plus men.
Nagasaki: I finally find myself able to talk about someone that I respect. Cormack, your lands heritage is built on battle and breeding strong warriors. Your clans history is a great one, filled with tales of legendary heroes. Your sports are all based around one man’s strength from the caber toss to the throw for height and length. I also love how much your people enjoy a refreshing beer! But what I love most is your wrestling style. The back hold wrestling where two competitors must best each other’s balance and keep their own, first to hit the ground loses. It’s very similar to my sumo technique and I certainly hope that we may learn something from one another. Shall I make this match at 15 interesting? I propose a wager! Should you and I lock up and it comes down to it, first to hit the mat owes a nights worth of drinks to the other!
Mr. Nobunaga: Cormack, while my friend, Nagasaki, may respect you, I for one do not. To me you are loud, brash, and arrogant. These are all of the things that despise in a person and look at you, you’re just all of them wrapped up into one northerner trash bag. And that hurts doesn’t it? Being called northern trash, but you have accepted that moniker, not because you are proud of it, but because you had to just to be able to stomach your dishonor. Did you know that during the waring states period of Japan, it was my ancestor who united it? He ended the bloodshed of my people, yours though. Yours was conquered. And even now your people tried to break free of British hold and they laughed at your people’s attempt. Just like they did when the British first took over, just like when the romans did before them. Your people did not breed strength, they bred weakness. And it is that weakness you are bred from, and it is that weakness your children will have. All of your sports may be based off of strength but with no thought to back that up, all you get is children running with sticks. Look to the samurai for strength. He is fast, smart and strong, able to show up any brute that your people could muster. A samurai strikes with precision to hit his opponent’s weakness.
Nobunaga pulls another cigarette out of his pack and lights it with a match. He draws it deep to control his anger and calm himself.
Mr. Nobunaga: luckily for us, you are a walking weak spot.
The screen fades to black and the music dies out. All that can be seen is the soft orange light showing the scar on the other side of Nobunaga’s face. The screen lights up again with black and white footage of World War two, the Japanese are fighting a losing battle many are injured and others are dead, but none of them give up hope that will defeat their enemies for their emperor. Again the war drums sound.
Nagasaki: Mr. Average, you are new and brash. It’s because you are new that will give you some lasting advice if you ever want to make it in the wrestling world. Give up everything you have and devote your life to it. If you have anything that even comes close to being important to you then you need to choose, your wrestling career or the wrong decision. You need to focus on every match you have with everything you have, if not then you are wasting your time just as much as your opponents and that’s not fair. Some of us give up everything we have just for the shot at becoming a wrestler. Sure if you don’t you may win a few matches or hell even go on a winning streak, but in the end those who dedicate their entire lives to their career are the only ones who ever get rewarded.
I gave up having a normal life as a child. I live for sumo, I breathe for sumo, and everything I do is for the glory of sumo! It is this belief that keeps me going when I feel weak and it is this belief that makes me able to take on every opponent that is put in front of me without fear of any of them. I would like to congratulate you on your victory over phoenix and bass, but now you are playing with fire. Everyone in this ring wants to put you in the ground, so I have a question for you. Are you ready to give up everything and become Great? Or are you going keep everything you have and continue to just be Average?
Mr. Nobunaga: It truly is unfortunate to thrown into a lion’s den isn’t it? To be such fresh meat put into the ring with people who are going to rip you to shreds until all that is left of you is a battered corpse on the ring floor. At least since you have a wife we will have somewhere to send the body. You say that woman is the reason you are who you are, you obsess over her, lust after her, love her. She is what makes you weak. She will be your downfall, do you really think that she is watching your matches? When she is out with her friends what do you think she is really doing? If you need someone to push you to follow your dreams then you are not a man, you just another child. One who does not know what manhood really is Man hood is knowing how to pick yourself up without the aid of others. Manhood is something that you could never know about even if it was put there in front of you. You say that you would kill for her and that you will die for her.
The film behind the two silhouettes changes from the Japanese fighting to the flight of the Enola Gay. Nobunaga takes one last puff of his cigarette and exhales it into the air. As this happens The Fat man is dropped on the town of Nagasaki. He puts his cigarette out as the mushroom cloud starts to dissipate.
Mr. Nobunaga: When you do die for her don’t feel bad, I have already thought of a nice street corner to put her on.
The screen fades to black for the final time as the war drums silence.
Nagasaki: I bring war to 15.
END
Nagasaki: These are the drums of war. This is what I will bring to the ring at 15. This international title will be mine.
