Back in the clock tower which he had his greatest revelation just a few mere weeks ago, Danny Vice overlooks the bright San Diego skyline attempting to make sense of what has transpired the past few weeks. He picks up small rocks and tosses them in off the side gently to the empty alley below. Their echo reminds Danny of the emptiness he feels inside, as a major void has been created by the division in his own household. His sister Janie has not come home since her betrayal at last week's episode of Slam, supposedly staying at "a friend's house" while she looks for a place of her own. Danny can't help but blame himself for not paying more attention to her needs and dreams. He blames himself for focusing so much on his renewed sense of purpose that he forgot that his brother and sister were as much involved in every step of this journey as he.
Jimmy Vice reaches the top of the spirales staircase inside of the clock tower and sees his brothers seated on his perch. He feels the same guilt as his brother for his sister's betrayal, but for entirely different reason.
Jimmy: Danny, how long are you going to sit like this?
Danny: I don't know. Not until I can figure out what went wrong. I can't tell whether I should feel angry or guilty for everything that happened this week.
Jimmy walks over slowly towards his brother and takes a seat right next to him. He rests his forearm on Danny's shoulder and attempts to console his brother with his words.
Jimmy: Danny, to think that this your fault is just ridiculous.
Danny: No, Jimmy, it really isn't. I think back to that tape, and it was Janie who was incredibly upset over my new obsession with good and evil, my obsession with being a man of the people. One who the average and everday fan could look up to. The one who is fighting for their virtues in an attempt to overcome the very people who had swayed my vision and view earlier in my WCF career. I said I didn't care about titles anymore, or personal glory. I wanted to do it all for the people, because without them I am nothing. I forgot that it isn't just about what I want, but you and Janie too. Janie always wanted me to be the best. To do anything it took to get to the top, to be remembered in the annals of history with all the greats. When I joined ToT, it was the proudest day of her life. She shined that Tag Team title every chance she got, because she was beginning to attain her dreams. And I threw that all aside for my own obsession with purity. For that, I am filled with guilt and self-loathing.
Jimmy: You're right Danny about one thing. That is all Janie wanted. But she wasn't thinking about what you wanted, or who you are. She wasn't the one in the middle of that ring, putting her health on the line. That was you. And when it all boils down to it, when you're in that ring, to deny your very essence and core, what truly drives you to make it to that next level, what Janie and I want doesn't mean a whole lot.
Danny: But I still...
Jimmy: No "buts" Danny. It was here that picked up that chair and swung it at you. And now it is Thunder corrupting the mind of our sister into thinking that cheating and improprieties are the correct way to go about not just wrestling, but life. This week, when you're in that ring, your object of focus in Thunder and Bobby Cairo. Both men are extremely talented and past champions of this federation, your mind cannot be on our sister's betrayal.
Danny: Jimmy, you're right. Bobby Cairo and Thunder have both done wicked things the past few weeks. Attacked a man from behind. Stolen a man's wife. Harbored a confused and terrified girl. Mocked a man whose body and spirit had been broken in the most hellacious match in WCF history. Now those men of wickedness will see the errors of their ways at my very hands. The guilt which pangs my heart will instead be released as an instrument of pain and suffering. And one of those two will lie in the center of that ring, locked in my Vicelock, and TAP!
Danny's eyes are wide and bright with excitement.
Jimmy: That's exactly what I like to here.
