[The scene opens just behind the black curtain at the entrance of the aisle way. Music is being played, the theme of “Mr. Average” Lee Roberts. As the camera is on the black curtain we see “Mr. Average” Lee Roberts walk through the curtain. He is sweating a lot and looks like he could use a shower and a cold bottle of refreshing water. As he walks past the camera, the shot goes on “Mr. Average” as he walks down the back hall of the arena. There are people walking past him and he makes his way down the back hall. They are people who work behind the scenes. He makes his way quickly down the hall and stops at a door.]
The camera goes onto the door where it says “Superstar Locker Room.” He opens the door and walks in. He looks back at the camera and smiles, inviting them into the locker room. The camera shows him inside the locker room. The camera pans around and we can see that there is nobody else in the locker room. He walks to the back of the locker room where there are red lockers and a bench in the front of them. The bench is made of wood, not steel. He sits down on the bench and takes slowly takes off his boots.]
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: What a match that was. I just showed the wrestling world what I could do. Now they won’t forget who I am. They can’t forget who I am because I am the best and I am the future International champion. But let’s not talk about that just yet. Let’s talk about the match that just happened. Let’s talk about what the wrestling world just saw. Everyone out there who ever doubted me that I’d become a professional wrestler, well they can all stick it. They can all kiss my feet. They can all eat their words. Throughout my whole life all I ever wanted to be was a professional wrestler. All I every wanted to do was entertain the wrestling world. I think tonight – I accomplished that goal. I showed the wrestling world what I could do. Now they can’t deny me that I can go in the ring. They said I didn’t have the talent, well guess what, I just proved them wrong and won my first match ever.
[He cracks his knuckles and then begins to speak again.]
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: I showed them when I hit my “Average Splash” for the win tonight. Who can doubt me now? I used to get teased for liking wrestling and wanting to be a wrestler. Well guess what, you can call shove it up you know where because I did what they said couldn’t be done. It doesn’t matter now what they say. It doesn’t matter one bit. I just shut up the haters. I just told them that despite all their efforts to hold me down, I proved them wrong. I waited my whole life for this moment and I ceased the moment. Hope they like eating crow.
[“Mister Average” Lee Roberts gets up from the bench and then turns around to face the opposite of the camera. He reaches into his gear bag and pulls out his clothes. He has a white dress shirt, black dress pants and black dress shoes. He gets dress slowly, first putting on his black dress pants. He then stands up and grabs his white dress shirt. He buttons it up slowly from bottom up. After that he puts on his black dress shoes. He wants to look good and there was a dress code anyway for active wrestling talent. He grabbed his gear bag and put his wrestling gear in the bag. He then zipped it up. He thought to himself about how great it will be when he becomes the World Championship Federation International champion. He grabbed his gear bag and then walked to the locker room door. He set the gear bag down so he could open the door. After opening the door, he walks down the back hall.]
[ Lee Roberts passes a bunch of backstage workers and then reaches a point in the hall way where he can turn left, right or go straight. He looks at the signs above him. The one on the left has a sign that says “Catering” and a arrow pointing down the hall. With his gear bag in hand he walks down the hallway. He walks inside as the camera follows his every move. Inside the catering room the camera pans to the left. He looks at the food. There are tables and tables of food. He walks over to where there is cold water sitting in a cooler. He grabs a bottle of water and twists open the bottle. After taking a big swig, he then grabs some food – mostly macaroni salad. Macaroni salad was his favorite thing to eat. It reminded him of Summer at his mom’s house. His mom always made the best macaroni salad. After chowing down his food, he walks out of catering and down the back hallway again. Before he can walk out the arena and to the parking lot, he is stopped by a white man with a white woman. He asks for a picture. “Mister Average” Lee Roberts takes a picture with each of them and then shakes their hand. He thanks them and they thank him for taking time out to take pictures with him.]
[He then walks out into the parking lot. There are only a few cars left out in the parking lot. He looks around to try to find his car. Seeing it, he walks to the back of the car and opens the trunk door. He then tosses his gear in the back and closes the trunk. After that he walks to the driver side of the car and opens it. He sits down and starts the car. He then drives out of the parking lot and onto the road leaving the arena behind. He was so glad to get out of there. He couldn’t wait to get to the hotel room so he could talk to his wife and say good night to his kids.]
[After driving for a good fifteen minutes he reached the downtown area. He was so exhausted from his long day at the arena. He was proud of himself and he was very happy that he won his match. It was now night time and as he pulled up to the hotel. He parked in the parking lot and popped open his trunk. After getting out of the car, he grabbed his gear bag and his other suitcase. He then walked to the front of the hotel. There were lots of people walking in and out of the hotel. He walked slowly up the steps, trying not to fall on his face in front of everyone. As he reached the top of the stairs, he set his luggage down. He then pulled the door open and with one foot, held the door open. He then set his gear bag and suit case past the doors.]
[ Then there was another door to go through. He did the same thing and entered the lobby of the hotel. There were people walking past him, to the left and to the right. He walked to the elevator. He had to wait for about a minute before the elevator came. After the doors opened, he let the people who were getting off on that floor to leave the elevator. He then grabbed his suit case and gear bags and walked onto the elevator. He was the only one as he the number five button. The elevator doors closed and he felt the elevator rise. Once the elevator reached the fifth floor the bell sounded. He walked through the elevator doors and into the fifth floor hallway. He took a look at his room key and saw that his room was number five hundred and twelve. He walked down the hallway to his door. He unlocked the door and stepped inside. After flipping on the light, he could see that the maid had been in and left him a chocolate on his pillow. He set his gear bag and suit case down. He then walked to where the television was on a wooden unit. He grabbed the remote and turned on the television. After flipping through the channels, he saw that there was nothing on. He then turned off the television. He wanted to go to sleep but he had to do something first and that was call home to his wife and children. Before he did that though, he decided that he was going to order some food. He called the front desk and said that he’d like to order some food. The receptionist asked him what he wanted and he said he’d have a club sandwich with a side of fries. The receptionist said that it wouldn’t be long before he would get his food. He was starving and the macaroni that he had at catering wasn’t enough to hold him over to the next day.]
Mister Average sat down on the edge of his bed. He looked at the phone and thought about what he was going to say to his wife and kids. They had seen the match but he didn’t think that they knew that he was getting a International championship shot at the next pay per view called “Fifteen.” He picked up the receiver and began to dial the number to his home phone. He held it to his while he waited for someone to answer. He then heard it ring for a few moments before someone had answered. He heard a sweet, soft voice on the other end. It was his wife and she was happy that he had called. Let’s listen in.
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: Hey honey, how are you tonight?
Wife: I’m doing good. I watched Slam tonight and I saw your match. You kicked some serious tail.
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: Yeah I did. And guess what? I have an International title shot at the pay per view.
Wife: That’s awesome honey. I am so happy for you. I am so happy that you are living your dream and showing the world what you can do.
[The two talked for at least an hour and a half. They talked about how they miss each other and how hard it is to be on the road. How he is the next WCF International champion, how his kids miss him. How the dog even misses him too. “Mister Average” Lee Roberts didn’t like to be away from his family so much, but he loved being able to wrestle all over the world. He was happy that he could entertain the fans. He was happy that he could do what he does best. He was even more happy that he can see the world. Lee Roberts was really proud of himself. He finally had all the nay Sayers eating their words. Lee Roberts was in the WCF for the long run. He wanted to start and finish his career here. He wanted to win championships and awards. He wanted to do it all. After ending the call, there was a knock at the door. He got up from the edge of the bed. The bed squeaked as he got up. He walked quickly to the door and answered it. It was his Club Sandwich with fries. He took the food and tipped the person who brought it to him. He then went back and sat back down on the bed. After chowing down his food. He turned on the television again to catch the replay of WCF’s Slam show. He waited for his match to come on. Once it was on he studied it and tried to break it down so he could learn from it. He thought it was a great first match for him. He thought it was a great match for the fans to see what he can do.]
[The next morning he woke up at around six in the morning. He didn’t have long to sleep because he had to get up in the morning to do a media appearance at a radio station. He sat up out of bed and had a big yawn. From there, he rolled out of bed and put his feet on the floor. He stretched a bit. Then he got up and stretched some more. He grabbed a bottle of water and drank it down. After that he walked to the bathroom and hopped in the shower. With the hot water pouring on his head, he thought about his day and how he was going to rock it the next show. He thought about the radio show and how he was going to make the World Championship Federation look good. It was his job at going to these media appearances to get people excited about the big event that was coming up. After drying himself with a towel, he got dressed. Today he was wearing a maroon dress shirt and white tie. He also wore black dress pants and dress shoes. He was so excited and nervous about his big appearance that morning.]
[ He didn’t want to mess up because there would be thousands of people listening to him as he spoke on air. He packed up his stuff because after the media appearance he’d be going to the arena to get ready for the big pay per view. Before he left he took one last look at himself in the mirror. He looked great, he thought. He grabbed his stuff, which was a suit case and wrestling gear bag and left the hotel room. When he was finally out in the hall, he locked the door. After that he headed to the elevator. It was half way down the hall so he had to drag his stuff there. It didn’t take him too long to reach the elevator. He pushed the down button and waited for the elevator to come. As the elevator reached the floor, there was a ding sound as the door opened. He stepped in and again he was alone. He took the elevator to the lobby. Then he headed out and went to his car in the parking lot. After putting the luggage in the trunk, he left the parking lot and drove down the road. He checked the time to see how long he had before his media appearance. He had a good hour and a half before he was going to be live an on the air to thousands of people. He still had the find the place. He wasn’t good with getting around town by himself, so he used the built in GPS that came with the rental car. He entered the information and then followed the GPS to the radio station. Once he parked the car, he got out and locked the doors.]
[He then walks to the entrance of the radio station. Once he reaches the doors to the radio station, he opens the door and walks in. At this point he is in the front hallway of the radio station. He looks down the hall of the station and sees there are pictures on each side of the walls. He walks a bit down them and he sees someone walking towards him. It is a man wearing a headset. He smiles at “Mister Average” Lee Roberts and reaches his hand out to shake his hand. Lee Roberts smiles at him and says hello. They exchange greetings and then the man with the headset tells him to follow him down the hall to the green room. Lee Roberts says okay and they walk together down the hall. The man says that he is early and will be on the air in an hour. Lee Roberts follows him into the green room. He takes a seat down. The guy with the head set asks him if he’d like something to drink. Lee Roberts says that he would like a bottle of water. The man says he will be right back. He is the only one in the green room as he is that morning’s only special guest. The man comes back with a bottle of water. Lee Roberts the bottle of water and takes a swig. He then sets it down on a table. There are speakers playing what they are talking about on the radio. Lee Roberts laughs when he hears that they are excited that he has arrived at the station. Lee waits patiently. He was happy that they were excited for him. He didn’t think that he was that big of a deal, but apparently he was. Soon the door opened to the green room. The man with the headset said that he was going to be on air in fifteen minutes and it’d be a good time for him to get ready. Lee Roberts gave him a smile and got up from his chair. He then followed him into the studio. The host reached out his hand. Lee Roberts shook his hand. The host said that he will be on the air after the commercial break.]
Lee Roberts: Hey guys, how are you?
Host: Hey Lee Roberts, are you ready for your interview?
Lee Roberts: Absolutely.
Host: I am Jared James by the way.
Lee Roberts: Nice to meet you Jared.
Jared James: Okay, we are going on air in three…two…. Hello everyone, we are 106.9 The Bear and we are very lucky today as we have a very special guest. Our guest is today is a World Championship Federation superstar, “Mister Average” Lee Roberts! How are you doing “Mister Average?”
Lee Roberts: I’m doing great. By the way, just call me Lee.
Jared James: Okay Lee, no problem. So tell me, what is it like to be a professional wrestler? I’ve always wanted to be one.
Lee Roberts: Well, Jared, it’s the greatest job in the world. I get to see the world and entertain fans every where I go!
Jared James: So I saw your match last week and you sure showed the wrestling world what you could do. How did it feel to win that match last week?
Lee Roberts: Well, to be honest, it felt absolutely great. It felt awesome. I showed the wrestling world that I am here to win. I am here to stay. I am here to become the International champion. I’ve waited a long time to become a professional wrestler. I have waited years to finally step into the ring. I’ve always wanted to become a professional wrestler ever since I was a little kid. When I was a kid I’d watch pro wrestling as much as I could. I wanted to know everything about it. I bought as many action figures and held my own shows. Professional wrestling was and still is my life. It’s what I truly live for. I am glad I get to give back to the wrestling business. For all that it did for me.
[Lee Roberts grabs a bottle of water. He takes off the cap and takes a big swing. He swallows the water and clears his throat. He then begins to speak again as thousands of people listen to every word he says.]
Lee Roberts: It has done so much for me. It is going to help me put food on the table and clothes on their back for my family. I am glad that I have a loving wife who will support me. I may not always be around, but I will be working my butt off to support them. I am very happy that I have a wife who understands the wrestling business. She knows I have to make some sacrifices for some time so that later on in life I can spend time with my children and her. I am married to this business. I am sure I will have some great times and some not so good times. I know that I may have some injuries, I may lose a lot of blood, and I know that I will cry when things get frustrating. And I wouldn’t change it for the world. I will gladly go through it all over and over again because I am living my dream.
Jared James: So this Sunday at the pay per view, It’s you against some others in an International championship match. What do you think is going to happen in this match? What are you going to do in this match and what kind of strategy do you have in this one? We are all dying to know. I mean, your match is the match I think will steal the show.
Lee Roberts: Well Jared James, it’s like this. When I win the International championship, it’s going to mean that I get more money. More money means I can provide for my family more. So I really, really want to win this match. Not only do I really want to win this match, I have to win this match. I’ve given myself no other choice but to do so. I am putting a lot of pressure on myself, but there is nothing wrong with that. It will only be my second match of my career so I am pretty new but being new doesn’t mean I am not going to win. I’m not going to say that I have this one in the bag, but I do know that I am going to give it my all to win this match. I want to wear that International championship so badly that I will do anything for it. I will do anything for it and there is nobody who is going to stop me from getting the win. Sure they can try as much as they want, but I am going to win. There is no doubt in my mind that I am going to be International champion. I am going to wear the gold proudly. I am going to walk tall into that arena and walk tall walking out of the arena. It’s almost go time and I am all set. Do you think there is anybody who is going to stop me from getting the win at Fifteen, Jared James?
Jared James: Well, you’re in there with a whole lot of other wrestlers. They aren’t push overs; these are some tough competitors. There is some serious talent in this match excluding you and it’s going to be really interesting to see what happens. Any one of these guys, including you Lee can walk out with the gold. If I had to pick one guy to win it, it’d be you and that’s not because you are standing right in front of me. That’s because I can hear it in your voice how bad you want it. I hear it in your voice, your determination. If I were a betting man, I’d put my money on you. I think I am going to put my money on you because I think I can win.
[Jared James pauses for a moment and then continues speaking.]
Jared James: Actually, I know that I can win. You’re going to make me a really rich man. You’re going to be a rich man yourself. You said it Lee, winning championships and winning matches means more money in your wallet. You’re going to be able to crush me with your wallet it’ll be so thick. Now then, I want to ask you, what do you think of each of your competitors. I am going to go through them one by one and I want you to go through them and tell me what you think of them and what are you going to do with them. But first, we are going to go to a commercial break. We’re also going to take your calls, so call in now as “Mister Average” Lee Roberts will be taking your calls soon!
[Jared James pushes a button and sends the show to a commercial break. He takes off his head set and looks at “Mister Average” Lee Roberts.]
Jared James: Wow man, you’re a great interview, you’re really intense, I love it. You’re my favorite guest I’ve had so far in my fifteen years of being a radio dee jay.
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: Yeah well, I am telling the truth. I speak the truth. I really am passionate about professional wrestling. I am really excited to be wrestling. It has been my life long dream.
Jared James: Well thank you for coming out today to the station.
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: It’s what I do. My goal is the best wrestler the wrestling world has ever seen.
Jared James: Well it seems like you’re on the right path. Alright, we are about to come back to the interview. In three, two.... Hello everyone if you’re just tuning in we have a very special person in town. Today we have what I believe will be the future of the World Championship Federation, we have “Mister Average” Lee Roberts. Now Lee, we were about to talk about your opponents for the pay per view, but we’ve got so many callers right now, let’s go to some of those.
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: Sure thing, let’s hear these questions people have for me.
Jared James: Okay caller one, you’re on the air. What’s your name and where you calling from?
Caller: Hey I’m George from Philly.
Jared James: Hello George, do you have a question for “Mister Average” Lee Roberts?
George: I sure do. How do you feel about your match at the pay per view? I mean, what is your strategy for that match?
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: Well George, I feel that my match will give me the chance to show what I can do in the ring. Last time on Slam, it showed just a taste of what I could do. This time, at Fifteen, I’ll be wrestling on pay per view. I’ll be wrestling in front of more people in the arena and I’ll have a lot of people watching from home too. I think my strategy is to get one opponent alone and then hit my “Average Splash” for the victory and the International championship. I know I can do it. Some people may doubt me, but really, they shouldn’t because I am the best thing going today in the World Championship Federation. I have to ask you George, are you going to be at the pay per view?
George: Yes! I had my tickets ages ago. I am front row and I am super excited about the show.
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: Well I hope you enjoy the show. All of us at in the World Championship Federation are thankful that we have great fans like you George.
Jared James: Okay thanks for the call George, I am glad you’re going to the show. Enjoy. Okay before I go to our next question, I want to ask you something. What are you going to do if you don’t win the match at Fifteen?
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: That’s a really good question and I am glad that you brought it up. I could easily blow you off and say that I am not going to lose but the thing is, I could get screwed over and not win the match. I am going to wrestle to the best of my abilities and there is no one who will be able to stop me from doing what I do best in that ring. The thing is though, what if I do get screwed out of the International championship? What am I going to do then? Well, I’ll go after whoever cost me the match and get my revenge. I will get them back and I will show them not to mess with me. All I ask is to have a fair shot at the International championship. There is something I want to say too. The championship is mine and I will have the strap around my waist. There is no doubt about it. I will stop at no means to get the strap. I will do all the high risk maneuvers that I can do. I will brawl on the outside if I have to. Whatever I have to do. Thing is, I have to realize is that whatever happens, happens. If I get hurt in the match, well then I’ll come back better than ever. Now then, do we have any more questions to ask me?
Jared James: I guess this is where we are going to have you go through each opponent that you have at the pay per view. We are going to go through them one by one and you will have as long as you want to tell them what you’re going to do at the Fifteen pay per view and what you’re going to do each superstar. But before that, we are going to go to a song. It’s going to be a special song. it’s going to be a song that our guest chooses to hear. What do you want to hear “Mister Average” Lee Roberts? What song would really get you in the mood to talk about your match?
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: How about my theme song, “Someday I am going ride in a Cadillac” by Charlie Major?
Jared James: Yup, knew you were going to say that one. Here it is!
[Jared James pushes a button and the song begins to play. He takes off his headset, and wipes his forehead with a towel. He then takes a sip of water and begins to talk to “Mister Average” Lee Roberts.]
Jared James: Man, are you ready to talk about your opponents? Are you in the right state of mind?
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: Yeah I am. I am super tired but I am ready to rock ‘n’ roll.
Jared James: Alright, we are about to come back after the song break. In three, two… Welcome everyone back to the show. If you’re just tuning in, we have a very special guest by the way of “Mister Average” Lee Roberts. Lee Roberts is a professional wrestler who has a big match coming up on “Fifteen” – the pay per view which will be put on by the World Championship Federation. Lee Roberts is about to go but first he has some words for all his opponents in his match for the International championship. I am going to throw it to you Lee, the floor is yours!
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: I am going to thank you guys here at The Bear for having me. I want all my opponents to know that I am going to do everything I can to win the International championship. I want that title so bad that I can taste it. I want that belt around my waist. There is going to be no one who can stop me. It doesn’t matter who you are. You can think that you’re going to beat me, but you’re not. I’ve got this match in the bag. I know that I am going to win and there is nobody out there who can stop me. I may be new to the wrestling business but that doesn’t mean that I can’t win. I am going to win. I will come home after the pay per view with the International championship in my hand. Sure all my competition is tough, but I am tougher. They may be strong but I am stronger. They may be fast, but I am that much faster. I am the best this league has ever seen. I am “Mister Average” and I will walk out of Fifteen with the International championship. Doubt me if you want, but you’re going to have a big wakeup call. It’s going to be a rude wake up call because you’ll see me with that strap. I am going to defend it against all comers. I beg you all to bring your “A” game because I am going to bring mine. I can’t wait to cash the big cheque after winning the match on pay per view. I can’t wait to cash that big cheque and buy something for my family. Maybe we will move in a new house or go to Disney World. Yeah, that’s exactly what we are going to do. We are going to go to Disney World when I win the International championship. I am going to take my whole family on a nice vacation. Then after the vacation I am going to go back and defend my championship against all comers and make even more money. If you think I’m not going to do that, wake up. Wake the heck up. The time for me to beat all you guys is coming up. Nagaski, MacNeill, Sakazaki and Punkin, you’re all going down.
[He takes a swig of water and then continues.]
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: I’ve also have some special words for Punkin. Punkin, you think that you’re going to win? Well you’re not. Sorry to break it to you but you’re not as great as you think you are. You think you’re going to send me back to wrestling school? I’ve got one better for you, I’m going to send you to the hospital after I drop you on your head. When you talk you do sound like you’ve been dropped on your head. If you think you’re going to own me, if you think you’re going to destroy me – just know that I am better than you in each and every way. I am going to make you eat your words. I am going to make you kiss your own ass when I turn you into a pretzel with my submission moves. Punkin, you’re about to be PUNKED! See you in the ring, sweet heart.
[With that, “Mister Average” signs off and thanks the radio station for having him today. They thank him and ask if they can get a picture with him. “Mister Average” Lee Roberts takes a picture with them and then thanks them again before leaving the building.]
[Will “Mister Average” Lee Roberts win the match this Sunday on pay per view? Or will he lose his chance at getting the belt at “Fifteen.” We will find out in a few short days!]
“Mister Average” Lee Roberts: What a match that was. I just showed the wrestling world what I could do. Now they won’t forget who I am.
