Freddy Whoa: LAST RITES! Vengeance caught the champion with a quick Last Rides, the Jacknife Powerbomb!
Getting the pin, the referee has no hesitation.
One!
Two!
Three!
Ding Ding Ding!
Kyle Steel: Here is your winner, Vengeance!
Vengeance gets up, and raises his arm while placing his foot over the head of Mikey to mock him.
Gravedigger: An amazing match but Vengeance pinned the United States Champion which could earn him a shot in the future.
Zach Davis: Mikey was not prepared especially after last week when that controversial match ended in a brawl with Bernard. The Board of Directors need to come to a decision before worse things happens.
Freddy Whoa: Now we go to commercial.
Vengeance slowly looks out in the crowd. His eyes scan the arena looking at people from all walks of life. In this moment he should be happy he just pinned the current United States champion, but happiness was the furthest thing from his mind. The fans continued cheering watching Vengeance stand in the ring but he couldn’t even crack a small smile for their support. As he runs his fingers through his sweat filled black hair, he pulls down each strap from his black tank top and climbs through the second rope and lands on the padded floor. Sweat continued to pour from his head as he slowly walks down the entrance ramp to the back locker room area the fans continued the clap and Vengeance continued to ignore them. Deep down inside he was thankful for their support, but his frustration was getting the best of him and little did he know it was going to get worse.
As he walked through the curtain and into the back stage area he walks up on a half-filled sliver metal trash can that was half full of papers and wasted food. Vengeance grabs the top of the trash can with his sweaty right hand and throws it against the cement bricked wall out of pure frustration. He didn’t notice Chris wearing his normal black suit and red tie was standing in the background watching this happen. A shocked look quickly overcame his face. Chris slowly made his way towards Vengeance. Vengeance walked away from the mess he just made and walked into his locker room and sat on a metal folding chair. Chris slowly walked in the door and looked at Vengeance. Vengeance face paint was half worn off, his eyes squinted staring at the wall, and drops of sweat continue to roll down his face. Chris unbuttoned his black suit jacket and sat down in the other metal folding chair next to Vengeance.
Chris: I saw what you did out there. Sometimes I don’t understand your actions.
Vengeance didn’t say a word. His face didn’t change and his squinted eyes kept staring at the wall.
Chris: Ok so you’re not going to talk to me. I don’t get what your problem is you just beat a champion that should be something to be proud of.
Vengeance stayed straight faced.
Chris: Well, ok we are going to do it like this now? Well I got the card for next week already. You’re booked to face Dune. You know Dune the man no one can beat? Like the best of the best. Once in a life-time.
Vengeance still frustrated doesn’t say a word. He slowly stands from the metal folding chair and walks out of the room. He slowly walks down to take a shower. Chris sat there in his folding chair, he was also frustrated. He was frustrated because he couldn’t understand why Vengeance was frustrated. A few minutes later there was a knock at the door. Chris slowly opened the door and their stood a young man in a black WCF shirt and jeans on. He handed Chris the updated card for the fifteen pay per view. Chris looked at it and saw a United States contendership match Vengeance Vs . His frustration quickly turned to excitement as he knew they finally noticed the work Vengeance has been putting in, or so he thought.
Twenty minutes later Vengeance returned from the shower. He changed into a black shirt that said Vengeance on the front in red letters. His black hair in a ponytail, Black Nike gym shorts, and black Nike shoes with a red Nike logo on the side. Vengeance put his wrestling gear in black duffel bag so he could clean it later. He packed his boots back into his blue suit case and zipped the chrome colored zipper. He sat down in the metal folding chair next to Chris once again.
Chris: So are you better now? I know taking a shower can relax people.
Vengeance still had a frustrated look on his face which even more clear without his face paint.
Vengeance: Why do you need to even ask that question? Do you not see the look in my face? Yeah I won the match, but what good does that do? Do you see the United States title lying around here? I sure in the fuck don’t. This company doesn’t respect the work that Vengeance does. To be honest with you I’m tired of being Vengeance. Vengeance doesn’t mean what it used too.
Chris: What do you mean it doesn’t mean what it used too? They just dropped off the card for fifteen and you get a shot at being the number one contender for that United States Title. Besides if you’re not going to be Vengeance, what are you going to do be?
Vengeance sighs. In his mind he knew it was time to tell the world his real name.
Vengeance: Harley Rhodes.
Chris’s green eyes lit up in utter shock. He knew things were changing as Vengeance had released his hidden personal information two weeks in a row. Vengeance looks at the ground then looks at Chris with his deep blue eyes
Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes: Sometimes things need to change to succeed in this business. I’m really a simple human being. The man you see that walks to the ring isn’t the real me. He is a version of me. He is someone that comes out of me. I don’t know what the face paint changes my mind. I don’t know why the face paint changes Harley Rhodes into Vengeance but, maybe it’s time for the people to see the real me. Maybe they will finally realize that I’m not that bad of a guy. I guess you could say I was born different. I have an alter ego. I’m not ashamed of it. But I’m tired of hiding it. Now it’s time for people to take me seriously.
Vengeance is a whole different beast. He’s dark, he’s hardcore, and he will do anything even if he kills himself trying. But I, Harley Rhodes, am a different person. I’m no different than any other persona walking down the road.
Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes blue eyes light up. He thought he finally figured out his frustration.
Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes: I’m not going to lie to anyone. Vengeance is a scary person. I cannot blame the management team for protecting one of their champions. I would probably protect them if I was them. Deep down inside the management team knew that Vengeance would destroy Mikey Extreme. Look at his track record there aren’t people many that he hasn’t destroyed. I don’t think this company is ready to have someone like that represent them; it’s not good for public relations. But what they do realize is at some point they will have to pay attention. You can’t ignore facts. Contenders match? Fine but what happens when Vengeance wins?
Chris mumbles before speaking as he is a little confused on this whole Vengeance vs Harley Rhodes deal. He thought they are the same person but clearly Harley Rhodes thinks Vengeance is his alter-ego.
Chris: Do you know who you or I mean Vengeance Is facing at slam?
Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes: How the fuck would I know that? Who will Vengeance be destroying this week?
Chris sighs as he shakes his head back and forth
Chris: I don’t think you or he will be destroying anyone to be completely honest with you. It’s Dune
Harley ‘Vengeance” Rhodes: Dune? Oh fuck no I’m not. You can take that idea and shove it up your ass. Are you trying to get me murdered? I’m not facing that mother fucker.
Chris giggles
Chris: Well you don’t have a choice really. I mean you can’t threaten to retire again. People will start to think you’re a whiny bitch or something.
Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes: Sure so I’ll get murdered instead. So I guess we need to go scope out Dunes life? I always wanted to die in the dessert, at least it’s the Mojave, and I guess we go southern California. Book the plane tickets; I really don’t like the feeling of this.
Chris pulls reaches inside his black suit jacket and pulls out his smart phone. He books two plane tickets to southern California on a private jet. Chris seemed to have made more connections since becoming an agent, yet that is probably what they are supposed to do anyways. After hanging up with the airline company he called yellow cab for a cab to pick them up and take them to the airport. They both got up and walked out of the locker room, down the hall, and exited through a side door that led into the parking lot.
The night sky was clear and it felt like you could see every star in the universe. A light wind could be felt which brought on a cool breeze. Headlights were seen slowly driving down the road towards the two. As they got closer yellow cab #202 could be seen on the front left fender as it pulled up the curb.
As the cab stopped, you could see the Indian driver was wearing a gray polo shirt and khaki pants, he slowly reached across the dash board and opened the glove box pushing the trunk release button. As the trunk popped open Chris and Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes placed their suitcases in the trunk next to each other, Chris slammed the trunk lid. Chris walked around and opened the left rear passenger door, got in and sat down. Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes did the same on the right side. When the doors closed them two looked at each other as the horrible smell of Indian food filled the cab. The cab driver started speaking in an Indian accent.
Cab Driver: Where too my friends?
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes: An early grave please.
A confused look came over the Indian driver as he just started in the black rear view mirror then started speaking.
Cab Driver: I do not understand?
Chris: Just take us to the airport please!
Cab Driver: Very well.
The driver speed off down the street. Chris and Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes stared out the window the whole way to the airport, block by block the city seemed to change, different building designs, different building lighting, and then it seemed the city ended, quickly the bright city lights turned to dim street lights they finally approached the airport.
The airport was lit up with enough lights it could be seen from space. As the cab driver stopped at the main entrance, Chris paid the driver and they both got out of the back seat as the driver opened the glove box and pushed the trunk released button. They both grabbed their suit cases and Chris slammed the trunk lid once again. The driver pulled down the road and got in line with the other cabs waiting for passengers coming out of the airport. The two walked through the airport and through security and found the area where the 20 passenger private jet was waiting. Inside the jet was a couple rows of seats and a small table with a two office style chairs.
Chris took off his black suit jacket, sat down, and placed his jacket next him. He ended up falling asleep before the plane even moved. Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes sat at the table thinking about the upcoming Slam. The plane took off a short time later and reached their cruising altitude before too long. Once the cabin lights dimmed Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes started to speak softly.
Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes: I don’t understand people like you Dune. What is your whole purpose in life? What happened to your parents? Why did these so called outlaws murder your brother? Supposedly you wiped them out, am I correct? That strikes anger in you doesn’t it? It’s no secret that you have done nothing but run through this entire roster with ease. I have serious doubt that anyone can actually beat you. I know I sure in the hell can’t. Can Vengeance? Maybe he can, maybe he can’t.
How is this really going to end Dune? What is the point of this match? It doesn’t prove anything for you does it? No matter the outcome you still going on to fifteen to face Occulo and Howard Black and Vengeance will still go on to face his mystery opponent for a United States contender spot. Everyone has this match outcome already down. Hell the odds in Las Vegas almost give you a 100% change of winning. But what do you get from this Dune? Does beating Vengeance bring back your dead brother? No It doesn’t.
Nothing ever will.
Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes smiles as he continues speaking the truth which he seemed to enjoy
Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes: I’m not going to lie to you Dune; after all I enjoy telling the truth. The truth is I’m actually impressed by you. I’m not impressed with your questionable life style that involves murders quite frankly you should be locked in prison or a mental hospital. I’m impressed by the way you handle pressure. By saying that I mean each and every week you destroy your opponents. But each and every week you are the only person with something to lose. What happens when the Mighty Dune finally falls? Then what happens? All good things come to an end at some point.
All though I have my doubts that Vengeance can actually defeat you, he doesn’t fear you. I know half this locker room fears you but Vengeance doesn’t. In all honesty I hope you destroy Vengeance at Slam I really do. Do you want to know why I hope that Dune? I hope that because it will give him all the motivation he needs to become the number 1 contender for the United States title. After all he actually has a match that means something at the pay per View. Funny how that works isn’t?
Do you want to know what else funny Dune is? I believe I have the answer for this match. You see really it’s quite simple, because it’s happened before and I’m sure it won’t be the last time. WCF management is making an attempt to kill Vengeance off for the pay per view. Why, do you ask? Because they fear Vengeance as a champion, they see it as a public relations nightmare. So what is the best way to kill off Vengeance’s motivation before his next big match? Simply book him in a match so he can get physically destroyed by Dune. That’s all you’re being used for.
Frustration once again over comes Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes face as he looks around the plane.
Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes: Every generation has that one guy the company gets behind. I have been around awhile Dune; I have watched this new generation walk in the door. With all the new people that call this place home now you are chosen as the headline act. I don’t doubt your skill, but I know behind the scenes what companies do to make there “top” guy look good. It’s no secret Vengeance has never been a “top” guy in this company and he probably never will be. The company just can’t get behind him like they do you Dune. They protect you just like everyone else.
You have several issues that plague your life Dune. You need someone to save you. You need someone who can reach into the darkness and save your dark soul before you end up like your brother. There is nothing wrong asking for help Dune. Everyone has asked for help at some point in their life. You have so much hate inside of you since your brother’s death you even turned on your friends didn’t you? There is one man who can save your lost soul Dune, but the question is do you actually deserve to be helped?
I have no doubts I am doing nothing more than digging myself and Vengeance a dessert grave, after all we are on our way to visit your native land. The very land that is hot and nothing worthy lives there. The lizards crawl in the sand, the vultures flying around waiting for their next victim.
The frustration was starting to leave and tiredness starting taking over. Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes decided to stand up and it in a seat behind Chris and leaned back. As he sat there staring at the ceiling in the small private jet his eyes become more and heavier finally failing asleep. Tonight’s sleep wouldn’t be normal as Harley “Vengeance” Rhodes has been struggling finding the difference between himself and his alter-ego. Tonight would lead to wrestling nightmares that would leave him once again questioning his career.

After four hours of sleep Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes suddenly wakes up yelling in a cold sweat, Chris suddenly wakes up after hearing the yell. Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes wipes a couple beads of sweat off his forehead and Chris stands up from his chair and looks at Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes.
Chris: Dude what the fuck was that?
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes: They are trying to kill me Chris.
Chris: Who are they?
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes: WCF management, they are trying to kill me off.
Chris: Explain to me why you think this is going to happen?
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes: Think about this for a minute. WCF management wants to get back at me from my actions in 2013. They cannot accept the fact that I walked out on them after they took a chance on me. But we all know that’s the furthest thing from the truth. I have been telling nothing but the truth since I came back last year. I came back with an open mind, I let bygones be bygones. I was willing to forget that they kept me down. Back then it took a group called Rebellion, now it’s just Vengeance.
But you really want to know why I think they are trying to kill me? Let’s face the facts at hand. You can only ignore something for so long until you have to pay attention. You can only poke something before you get bit. I have spent four years with this company. That is almost the same amount of time of some of the returning “top” starts from a few years ago. What do they get when they return? Title shots almost right away. What did Vengeance get? Not a god damn thing.
The level of excitement that overcame this company when a few “top” stars returned was beyond ridiculous. What happened when Vengeance returned? Can anyone tell me? Not a god damn thing happened, no one give a flying fuck, and I sure in the hell wasn’t handle a title chance on a silver platter like all the others, and why is that? Why has Vengeance been ignored? I couldn’t even get a chance to earn a title shot.
So what happened to Vengeance when he returned? WCF mind games got into his head and he got beat each and every week. Was it because he was out matched? Was it because he didn’t have the skill? Was the talent far beyond anything Vengeance could do? The answer is no, no to each one of those questions. Vengeance let WCF win. WCF won a Vengeance took another break, and then he came back a short time later.
What happened when he came back? He beat people he shouldn’t have beat, he was considered being the winner of the upset almost every week. And why is that? Why is Vengeance all of a sudden the underdog since returning? Why doesn’t Vengeance get the same respect as all the other returning stars? Vengeance is a former champion just like every other returning star. They don’t want recognize that Vengeance used to be someone, they want to forget him
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes stands up out of his chair and his emotions are starting to get the best of him once again frustration sets in and fear leaves.
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes: They made an attempt to force me to retire, once again their mind games took over my head. I know they are sitting back in the corporate offices laughing. This isn’t a joke I have warned you week after week you are pushing Vengeance into a place that you don’t want to see. You don’t want to see for the safety of yourself and your talent. Do you hear me now? Are you going to pay attention to Vengeance now? No you won’t, you and your talent will continue to ignore the warning signs that will come before your eyes.
I will promise you things will get worse each and every week. Things in Vengeances head are slowly changing and slowly each and every one of you in the corporate structure will start paying attention. You will not win this game. I am warning you. Are you truly willing to sacrifice the talent you cater too? Nothing has changed from 2013 has it? The same people get title shots, title shots, and more title shots while the rest of us have to run your gauntlet to even get a little bit of your attention. It really don’t matter what year it is you have a set certain set of guys who you want to represent this company, don’t you?
We all know it’s only a matter of time until you put Dune back on the top, the spot you think he deserves. Each and every week you feed him people you want to take motivation from. You use him to bury people you want to keep in check. It’s no secret people know, management wants to keep Vengeance down. Now you want to send Dune in to stop the momentum Vengeance has after beating champion last week. Management is making an attempt at stopping Vengeance before fifteen.
That is your plan isn’t? You want to use the excuse that you gave Vengeance a chance at fifteen but it’s not our fault he couldn’t make it. You don’t have any problems with this do you Dune? You are the new chosen “top” guy and you have no regrets. Let me ask you this Dune, Who did those outlaws, really work for when your brother was murdered? Did it ever cross your mind that corporations will everything in their power to complete control?
Dune you enjoy being fed the silver platter, just like all the returning “top” guys don’t you? You claim you run through people to revenge your brother’s death, but that isn’t the truth is it. Dune, you bought into the corporate game. I don’t care how much you try and cover it up, I can see right through your lies. You are nothing more than a corporate insurance policy. They use you to strike fear into people they want to keep down, but you’re not smart enough to realize it are you?
Fear is such a powerful word isn’t Dune? Fear is something that you use each week. You have every single opponent beat before they even step in the ring to face you. All because of one single word. Everyone fears you don’t they? Everyone fears the day they have to face Dune. I fear you Dune, I really do. But Vengeance doesn’t fear you. While there is no doubt in my mind you can kill me, you cannot kill Vengeance.
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes frustration seemed to leave him and a calming sensation came over. His rant seemly came to an end at the perfect time as the jet was starting it’s descend from the cruising altitude. As the plane descends Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes and Chris sat down in seats next to each other waiting for the plane to land. What Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes didn’t know was Chris had arranged for the private jet to take them to a small airport in the middle of the Mojave desert so they could get a true feel of what Dune’s life was like. Chris had also packed supplies and they would be camping out or a day or two. Chris was undecided how long they would stay. Luckily for the two temperatures in January only topped out in the 60’s.
As the plane finally touched down and came to a stop near a medium sized steal building that served as the office place for the small regional airport, Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes and Chris grabbed their bags and waited for the door to be opened . Once the door opened and the stairs came down the two climbed off the plane and walked towards the office building.
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes: What time is the car going to be here to pick us up? What hotel did you book?
Chris: Um well, we are going to stay in the dessert for a couple days.
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes: A couple days? I don’t think so. There is no one in hell I’m staying in some sandbox.
Chris: How about for one night? Can we at least agree on that? We are here to learn about Dune’s life, and his life is based from the dessert. After all his fucking name is Dune. Get it Dune sand dune.
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes didn’t find this joke funny and he kept a straight face.
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes: You do realize people die easily in the dessert right? There are things out there that eat you. I’m actually surprised you of all people would come up with an idea like this. You don’t like staying out in nature anymore then I do. This is why they invented RV’s and fucking hotels.
Chris smirks as he saw Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes point.
Chris: I know and I completely you agree with you. But listen, Dune is a whole different animal. Remember there are only a few people who come long in each generation that have the famed “IT” when it comes to wrestling. Dune has all of that. You need to get in his mind set or he will destroy you, I mean Vengeance.
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes shakes his head in agreement
Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes: Doubt me all you want it’s no secret I’d be scared to face Dune, but never doubt Vengeance.
Both finally agreed to spend one night in the dessert and they both agreed not to wonder too far off from the airport. They ended up walking about a mile into the dessert before finding a spot to camp for the night. Chris had brought camping gear which included, some wood, a tent, couple sleeping bags, and some food. Once reaching the spot the two quickly set up the tent, and started a fire before darkness soon filled the sky.
The night was clear and cool, you could see every star in the universe it seemed. Chris finally decided to change out of his suit and tie and put on a sweat shirt and sweat pants before sitting at the fire. Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes kept the same clothes on as he also took a seat by the fire. The two sat there not saying a word. A few minutes later sounds of unknown animals seemed to fill the night sky. As the sounds kept on, you could make out a few coyotes and some rattlesnakes that didn’t seem that far away from the campsite.
There was no doubt fear struck both men when they heard these sounds. Both coyotes and rattlesnakes could easily take down a human and hurt them at the very least. The growing fear in Chris’s mind made him realize this was probably a bad idea, but decided not to admit to it. Chris decided to work on some on his personal projects on his laptop and went into the tent. Harley ”Vengeance” Rhodes decided to go for a walk. He headed towards the airport but he didn’t make it that far when he found an abandoned building. Curiosity got the best of him and he decided to look around the small building. He disappeared for a few minutes.
When he came back into view his face was painted white with black stripes, he was dressed in a black robe, carrying shovel. He stops suddenly as the full moon lights provides light over Vengeance.
Vengeance: It’s funny how things work these days isn’t? The whole word wants to know everything about someone, they don’t want to believe in mystery, they want the truth. So I bit into that I let the whole world find out a couple personal facts. You know where I live, you know my real name. But does that truly make each and every one of you happy? No, of course it doesn’t make you happy you want more. We all want more. We want to suck every ounce out one’s life then throw them away.
Vengeance buries the metal head of the shovel into the sand as you can hear every sand particle hit the shovel. Shovel full by Shovel full he starts digging a hole. After about an hour of digging he ended up with a six foot long, four foot wide, and four foot deep hole. His black hair was wet as sweat from the digging poured out of his head Vengeance felt relief before softly speaking again.
Vengeance: Look at this hole Dune, do you know what this is called? No? This is what’s called a shallow grave. These are usually dug by people who are amateurs, and want nothing more than to hide someone, or something. I want you to take a good long hard look inside this dark hole Dune. After the first battle of Dune Vs Vengeance this Sunday at slam it will be no secret one of us may lay right in this very hole.
But that’s not going to be me, I promise you that. I tried so hard to be a good guy Dune, I really did. I tried to be nice when I returned last year, I did everything they asked of me. Harley Rhodes is a good guy, but Vengeance has anger buried deep inside of him. I have anger because of people like you Dune. People like you who are brought in to take spots away from people like me. People like me who have been here for years. I realize that my track record hasn’t been great, but when I am here I have given everything that I had.
I gave it all for what Dune? To help keep places like this running so people like you can just slide in and steal the spot light? I have a problem with that Dune. This Sunday at slam you’re going to step foot in the ring with someone like you have never faced before.
Vengeance’s eyes light up and aggression over comes him and his voice.
Vengeance: I want you to look in these eyes Dune. Look deep into these eyes. Can you read them? I’m not coming Sunday to win a wrestling match, matter fact I could care less about wrestling this Sunday. What I am going to do is use you as an example. You Dune, you will be the example for everyone else who decides to steal the spot light that I deserve. You’re dominance will come to an end at the hands of Vengeance and you will be nothing more than a foot note in my rise.
I tried to go home Dune, I really did. But if I retired like I intended to do people like you win. I couldn’t live out the rest of my days letting people like you win. I never intended to return to my dark hardcore ways but its people like you who drove me to it. Now this will soon end, and gold will soon be around my waist where it belongs. You Dune will suffer you’re last rites.
Vengeance slowly climbs inside the shallow hole he dug and lays down. He feels at peace with himself.
Vengeance: Hello darkness my old friend………………….
Six men slowly appear dressed in red robes, one by one they stand at the edge of the whole until they surround it. They look down at Vengeance.
