The scene today begins outside the former Team of Treachery locker room, one day after Vice’s speech to Striker and Thunder. The door has a rusty hinge and the ‘f’ from ‘Of’ is missing, so the door reads ‘Team o Treachery’. Outside the room, in the hallway, stands Skyler Striker and daughter Jade Striker. Skyler is dressed in his new black and maroon attire, and has dyed his hair so the blonde has red streaks through it. Jade is dressed in casual street clothes you would expect a young teen to wear. She nods to Skyler and Skyler turns the handle, opening the door and entering the room. The room has been cleaned since the previous day, although the smell of gasoline still permeates the room. Skyler looks around and smiles to himself.
JS: Why, dare I ask, are you so happy, father?
SS: Thunder’s maid did a good job. I knew it was a perfect idea. This room is over and done with. It won’t be long before a new team resides here now instead of it just sitting here, growing nostalgia all over it.
JS: This place probably meant a lot to Danny, father. That wasn’t particularly nice.
SS: And you meant a lot to me, Jade, but that didn’t stop Jack of Blades from taking you from me. Vice was allied with that man, Jade. They’re as bad as each other. (Hesitates) Well, Jack was slightly worse.
JS: So you did this purely out of spite? That’s not exactly the most honourable thing to do.
SS: I know. I’m not trying to be Vice. But he still believes somehow he can cling onto the threads of something which no longer exists.
JS: Like you and the Fury Crusader.
Skyler sighs and spins on his heel, exiting the room and talking to Jade, who follows him as they head for their own locker room.
SS: This isn’t about me, it’s about him. About them. Vice and Biggs. They’re both my problem now, which is distracting me from the real problem, which is Danny Vice.
JS: You just said that Vice and Biggs were your problem. Vice is a part of Vice and Biggs.
Skyler stops dead and turns to face Jade.
SS: Wrong. Disorder by Design are a different problem to Vice. At the Extreme Hell in a Cell at One, Disorder by Design will be split up. Their greatest advantage taken away from one another. They’re strong as a tag team. Alone, their weaknesses are exposed. Thunder and I are strong as a team and as individuals. We have tag team and singles gold. And before you tell me that Vice was right because all I care about is gold, to be honest, I wouldn’t mind it if Disorder by Design took the Tag Titles back. They’re distracting me from focusing on Vice.
JS: Surely you know him inside and out by now.
SS: Ha. Vice and I change every time we fight. It’s doubtful that one of us will ever get a final hand on the other. Eventually, we will be in the ring again after One. But One is the furthest point of my focus at the moment. I’m not concerned about making history, like Danny thinks, or thinking about who I should face after One, because One is the most important thin on my mind right now. Not Slam, not Thunder, One and Vice.
Striker turns and opens the door to his locker room, where a sticky note is hanging on his locker. Striker reads it as follows:
Hey Skyler, it’s Thunder. I’m psyched for Slam. Let’s get DbD out of our faces once and for all! See you in the ring!
Skyler crumples the note and throws it in the garbage bin.
SS: Psyched. Hardly. I’m more focused on getting through this match in one piece than coming out with tag titles, but if that’s what it takes, so be it.
Skyler switches the camera in his locker room on and faces it.
SS: Vice, you can say all you want about making history or being the greatest tag team ever. I don’t give a damn, to be honest. One is the only thing on my mind right now. Getting in the ring with you before then only fuels me further, Vice. ‘Sunday at Slam’, Vice, I don’t give a damn about the tag titles. I give a damn about demolishing you and that’s it. Biggs and Thunder have their own quarrel, but as far as I’m concerned, you are the only thing in that ring that I want. Not gold, not history, you. Now stop clinging to the past and to your partner and start clinging to life. Enjoy it while you can.
Striker flips the camera off and leaves the room, while Jade sighs and follows him out.
JS: Real original.
