Our scene today is located on an airplane. A QANTAS airplane, flying from Perth, Australia, to wherever the WCF Arena for Till Death Do Us Part is located. The plane is a jumbo, and as such, there are two floors. The top floor is reserved for only the finest, or those who can afford the hefty business class seat prices. Thus it is only fitting that Skyler Striker should be there. However, Skyler has chosen to sit in the very last row, in the economy class seats, with the majority of the plane. His row only has two people, and the other is his daughter Jade. Both Skyler and Jade are dressed in formal black clothes. Skyler is reading a newspaper while Jade is devouring a lolly to stop her ears from popping as they land. The plane is almost on the ground, and Skyler looks out the window to see the airport close. He turns back to his paper while Jade continues eating lollies. Eventually, the plane manages to taxi all the way down to its stop and the air-bridge folds out. Skyler and Jade are last off the plane and Skyler begins conversation as he begins making his way towards the terminal.
SS: So, Jade, what did you think?
JS: Father, I’ve been on airplanes before. I’m still annoyed that you didn’t buy us business class seats.
SS: I gave you my reasons for that, Jade.
JS: Yeah, yeah – you want us all to be with the people like you are in the WCF. Got it.
The two manage to move through the aerobridge and downstairs to the baggage collection. Skyler and Jade, being last off the plane, take forever to make it to the front, and finally they lift Skyler’s big red bag of. It takes them another three go-arounds to be able to grab Jade’s slightly smaller pink one. As they head out to the main lobby, they see Rayford Dean, their private investigator, waiting for them with a baggage trolley in hand. Skyler shakes hands with Ray as they walk out of the terminal and towards the carpark.
SS: So how’s the search going, Ray?
RD: Well, we’ve narrowed it down to a country. She’s in America. But America’s a mighty big place. We’ll keep narrowing it down, though. I’ve got a few leads to work on.
SS: That’s awesome, Ray.
RD: Although you seem to be having more trouble than Jackson and I.
SS: A loss one week does not incur another loss the next week, Ray.
RD: They beat the living hell out of you, Skyler. What happens if Seth takes your hardcore title?
SS: Look back at that airport, Ray.
The three stop moving. They have a clear view of the control tower and a few of the aerobridges.
SS: See the control tower? It can’t move. It can only tell people what to do. They don’t have to listen. But they should. It’s like Seth Lerch. The so-called Master of Puppets. Well, he’s got one puppet that’s fighting back. So he sends other ‘planes’ to go after it. they take it down and it gets repaired. Next week, the control tower is alone versus that plane. Who do you think will win?
RD: The tower can’t move. The plane would destroy it if it crashed into it.
SS: That’s exactly what I plan to do to Seth Lerch this week. He’s stuck, he has no support, and I am about to drive straight into him in a head on hardcore collision. He won’t be standing after this, let me tell you that. And then I can feel free to take on the bigger planes – the main event.
RD: You were pretty quick to come up with an analogy like that so fast.
JS: No he wasn’t. He thought you’d ask something like that so he thought of an analogy on the way here.
Ray looks at Skyler, who shrugs.
SS: What?
RD: You’re a character, Skyler. But you’ve got guts, I’ll give you that.
The three arrive at the car. Before they can load their bags in or jump in, however, an older man, dressed in a navy-blue business suit opens a door from inside and steps out, brushing himself off.
SS: You’ll be Jackson, I suppose.
AJ: Andrew Jackson, at your service. Partner of Ray there. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Skyler. Just load your bags into the back and step in. Ray can drive. I need to ask you some questions about Shaneyah…
They load their bags into the car and jump in, and the scene fades as they drive off.
