Thunder was sitting on the black leather couch watching something on the flat screened TV when the white van pulled up. He heard it and knew immediately what is was. The man driving the van exited and pulled a boom mic and camera out of the back. As he was doing this, Thunder opened the front door.
Cameraman: Hello. You ready?
Thunder: Yeah.
Quite quickly, the cameraman set up everything.
Cameraman: 5…4…3…2…1
Thunder: Normally I’m not a fan of “shoot” promos or whatever people want to call them. It’s become a cliché and too many people have done, but I’m going to do it today. But I’m doing this for only one reason, to send a direct message to Danny Vice. Pay attention, Danny. I’m not saying is to anyone but you.
Danny, we’ve fought each other countless times over the past several months. From the very beginning, back when we were fighting for the Tag Titles, we’ve fought in brutal and draining matches. Sometimes I won, and a couple of times you won. But no matter how many times we fought and how much we were hurt, you always came back wanting to fight once more. Why is that?
The answer, Danny, is jealously. You want to destroy me because you’re jealous about everything I am. From the money, the house, the cars, to every other item attached to my wealth you wish you had. You’re jealous of all those material possessions, the things you cannot have. Sure, you can claim that you don’t really want those things, but every man, woman, and child is weak when it comes to money. You want the almighty dollar just as much as every person walking the face of the earth.
All the money and the things that come with it are not the only items I possess that you want. You want that big gold belt, the WCF Hardcore Title, around your waist. Every man deep down inside wants the satisfaction of knowing they are the best at something. A title in WCF or any other wrestling promotion signifies that. That big gold belt that says “Hardcore Champion” on it isn’t what’s important. That belt and every other title is a symbol for excellence. When you’ve got that belt it gives you the confidence to know that at least one on night you were able to be the better man. That’s what you want, isn’t it Danny? You want to be something for once in your life, don’t you? Maybe you’re sick and tired of doing nothing of value and what to be great for once. And in your sick mind you think beating a man to a bloody pulp and taking a big gold belt from him will do it. But maybe if you ever opened your eyes and looked around you, you’d see that what you think is best for your wrestling career isn’t what’s important in life. And in not seeing that, you lost your sister.
That’s the other thing you want, and hopefully what you want the most. You miss Janie, don’t you? Well the feeling isn’t mutual. Have you yet to realize that it’s all your fault? In only caring about how your wrestling career went, you alienated your sister to the point where she couldn’t stand to be near you anymore. She made the right choice and went to me, someone who’s life isn’t consumed by the big gold belt. I actually care for her, unlike you. Only now do you care for Janie, when it’s far too late. You’re chance at a great relationship with your sister has come and gone, and you have nothing but yourself to blame. Sure, you may finally win the big gold belt you’ve dreamed of, but the cost was your sister.
That’s what your jealous of, but the fact is all of those things you will never get. The Hardcore Title may seem within reach, but you will falter as you always do, and I think you know that. Getting a little nervous? A little scared? You should be. You know that I have everything you want, and that it will always be out of reach. Winning the big gold belt won't bring your sister back. Winning the Hardcore Title won't give you the money I have. And no title will give you everything I have. You can win the title, but I'll still have your sister, the one thing that can never come back. You've flushed so much away, that for your sake that big gold belt better make you pretty goddman happy if you win it. But unfortunately for you, you won't even get that.
After all we’ve been through, we’re about to reach the end. And when Payback is over, I’ll have the money, the big gold belt, and Janie. What will you have? Your comedy sidekick brother. Enjoy that; I’ll be enjoying all the good things in life. And your sister will be enjoying being with someone who cares for her. The end is here Danny, and you won’t have a storybook ending.
