~*~*~The scene opens and we see the backstage locker-room. Wrestlers are seen around the room getting ready for their match. In the far corner, we see Lance Ryan walking out of the showers in just his boxers. He sits down on a bench and starts to get dressed. Beside him on a chair is his newly won People's Championship. Lance seems to be oblivious of everyone else around him and suddenly his brother Matt walks onto the screen. Matt is wearing a pair of black jeans and the new WCF Lance Ryan t-shirt. Lance doesn't see him at first and is going about his business and then feels Matt's presence and he looks up.~*~*~
Lance:
Can I help y...oh, it's you.
Matt:
Oh, it's me? You just put on one hell of a show out there, got your first piece of gold in WCF and that is what you have for me? Come on dude, where is the jubilee?
Lance:
Oh, I am happy, believe me. What I am thinking about though is how this is just a stepping stone. Sure, there are a hell of a lot of guys in here that would kill to hold this belt. They would love to hold the Championship of the People, but not me. I have my eyes on bigger and better things. I know that this is just the start of a huge windfall. I will be on top of things.
Matt:
Well, I am glad to see that the thoughts of retirement seem to be gone. Gold seems to do that to you though. All you need is a little bit of payoff and you remember that killer instinct that has got us to the top so many times. I am really glad to see that hunger again, we are on our way up this week. You have one title, and word has trickled down that you are set to take on three men in a number one contenders match for the Television Title.
~*~*~At the name of a second title, Lance's eyes light up and Matt has his full attention as Lance finishes getting dressed in a sharp dress shirt and a black pair of pants.~*~*~
Lance:
Keep Talking.
Matt:
They have you set to take on three guys. One of them is Jason Anderson.
Lance:
Does this guy have no quit to him? AT least I seemingly took him down a couple of notches this week. That arrogant bastard will not be so keen on overlooking me this time. He is just a stepping stone now. A notch below me on the social ladder, one of the good wrestlers, below the great ones. Who else?
Matt:
Dave Holland and Johnny Craven. We both know a lot about Holland. Yet another arrogant young man that seems to think that he has your number, and Craven just finished a strong run with the Hardcore Title. Quite a variance of styles exists in this match.
Lance:
Man, you know that that doesn't bother me any. Every style has a weakness, there isn't one way of wrestling that I cant exploit and take care of one on one, let alone when I have two other pawns to help me out. This is like a game of chess man. There are some pieces that are better than others, and my piece is the king. Nobody gets close enough to me to do any damage and I use the pawns to take care of my business for me.
Matt:
You are preaching to the choir man, believe me I trust you. I have seen you in action long enough. Now enough of this jibber jabber, lets get out on the town and do some celebrating shall we?
Lance:
I thought you'd never ask. This week we celebrate the People's Title, next week we celebrate the incoming TV Title. Things are on the up and up Matt. I am going to take this place by storm. Next week, Three guys, Three losers. There can only be one winner, and I mean...honestly, which one of those fools really believes in his heart that he can beat me? The answer is simply none.
~*~*~Lance grabs his bags and slings his newly won title over his shoulder and he and Matt walk down the hall toward the parking garage. As they close in on a limousine, a man and his young son walk toward them. The man walks right in Lance's path.~*~*~
Man:
Lance, listen, I know that that character that you play is not you. My son Joshua here is a huge fan of yours and we were wondering if we could get an autograph from you really quickly.
~*~*~Lance stops and stares the man right in the face for a long moment making the man feel very uncomfortable.~*~*~
Lance:
Oh, I get it. You know that I only play a supreme asshole on TV. Now that I am your People's Champion, you think that I will sign some pictures, make some little boy feel great and move on with my life? You think that I am just another puppet? Another corporate ass kisser now that I have this choker chain around my waist?
Man:
N--No...I just thought that...
Lance:
Listen, I really don't give a damn. Why don't you go find Jason Anderson, I hear that his schedule just opened up a fair bit. He is lacking something important to him. Why don't you look up to him as a hero kid? He is going nowhere, just like you and all of the useless fans are. Get out of my way.
~*~*~Lance sidesteps the man and he and Matt get into the limousine leaving the man and his son looking after the so called People's Champion. The scene fades to black.~*~*~
