An Emotional Summary
Grayson left Slam without his United States Title because he let his guard down and let Wade Moor get in his head, and in his face. End of story. Let’s not talk about it anymore because he still has a rematch clause and will get his shot to have a fair match against Mikey and regain his title. This is just a mere hiccup in his #GreatestUSChampEver run. He will still go down in history as one of the best, if not THE best and will not let an obstacle like Mikey sully his name.
Nor will he let Wade Moor get the better of him. He knows his game; he knows what he’s trying to do. Gemini Battle eliminated more people than anyone else in War history. The only people worthy of this opportunity, Vic Venable, Spencer Adams, Teo del Sol, are all occupied at One. Gemini is the logical next choice to headline this massive pay per view for the world title…
But he has no desire to do so.
Why?
Because Wade Moor is a useless, pedantic, self-loathing, hideous, gross, monstrous…this could go on and one, but let’s just say that he’s not worth Gemini’s time, and in turn the World Title has lost it’s luster. It is no longer the most sought after title in the WCF, nor is it sought after at all, except by Dune. Let the sandman have his rematch if Joey can’t compete, Gemini will fight for the US Title and main event One that way instead.
Here Comes Trouble
He returned home on the rainy day, the weather seemed to mimic his mood. And by home he meant the hotel room he had used cash to rent and had been holding up in while the whole Hell’s Angel debacle smoothed over. He spoke with Clifford James, his best friend, and he had told him that his house was robbed. But nothing valuable was taken. He had to have the uncomfortable conversation that his past was indeed getting the better of him again and he was in trouble with some bad people.
He had rented a house where Cliff and Uncle Egg were holding up, but his father refused to settle in with them. When he last spoke with his father he was in a drunken stupor and may or may not have killed a prostitute and left her lying on the bedroom floor. He didn’t trust Grayson any longer and he couldn’t blame him, though his reasoning seemed outlandish his intentions were pure, well as pure as they could be.
Suddenly he heard it. The sound he had been dreading for the past week. It was the sound of unfiltered engines revving in the parking lot of his hotel. He looked down and saw the familiar Skull and feathers that ironically signified the biker crew coming after him. They travelled in a group of 6 this time, clearly doubling their efforts.
Grayson
Pack the shit… NOW!
In a panicked rage he gathered the babies stuff and packed it all in the giant suitcase that was on the floor. Kat rushed and gathered all of their clothing and whatnot that was scattered across the small one bedroom hotel room they had been dwelling in.
Grayson
Shit… it won’t close. Why is it always so much easier to pack than to repack!
Fuck it. We gotta go.
They packed up as much as they could, knowing that they were going to have to leave shit behind and probably never see it again. He took one last look around the room and looked as Kat and Teddy booked their way down the hall and to the stairway with the baby’s pack and play. He examined the room one last time and motioned a single finger in her direction. He rushed back inside the room and grabbed the final object that he could not leave without. It was Teddy’s baby book.
He got back outside and heard the elevator beep. He looked down the hall and slid the book down the tile hallway to his loved ones who grabbed it and left through the open doorway as he looked back and saw 6 leather jacket clad men with visible weapons hidden beneath them turn their head to the left, and the to the right, directly at Grayson. They noticed him and made their way towards his direction. He slammed his door shut, and locked it with both the hook and the handle.
First Grayson rushed to the phone and dialed the front desk. He was gonna narc on these mother fuckers big time. The phone rang twice before someone picked up.
Grayson
Hi, this is Grayson Pierce, room 311, there’s…
*click*
What the fuck? He must have lost connection. He heard the pounding on the door like a barricade buster as he dialed the front desk again.
Grayson
Hi this is Grayson Pierce, room 3 ele…
*click*
He knew what was happening. The front desk clerk was swimming in his money or cowering in fear. Either way he was told to ignore phone calls from this room and Grayson had to think of another way out. The pounding stopped but a small clicking could be heard. They were picking the lock on the other side. He rushed towards the window and found no way to open it, fucking hotel windows.
The door opened and with a resounding thud it crashed against the hook that was holding it shut. He rushed over and with all of his strength slammed the door shut and locked it again. It was only a moment before they picked the lock once more and the door crashed against its hinges.
He looked at the door frame and watched as he assumed a near 300 lb man crashed his foot into it repeatedly on the other side and the door frame began to crack. It was only a matter of time before it and everything came crashing down on him. He looked and found a wooden chair at a desk. He picked it up and tossed it at the window. The crashing of the chair on the window corresponded with the crashing of foot on door and not even a crack emerged.
The door was on its last legs and the window looked like it was going to last forever. Another throw of the chair left the window and the chair unscathed as the door became more and more precarious in each moment. Another throw of the chair developed a crack in the window but the door was getting opened wider and wider. A smaller, familiar looking man looked as though he was trying to fit in the crack, which was more than a crack at this point, it was a legit opening. It was ‘Short Stuff’ from their last encounter. This guy definitely had a score to settle with Grayson after his untimely kick to the noggin.
He was squeezing through, so Grayson took the chair and smashed it against he and the door. Unsure if he hurt Short Stuff, he at least got him to leave the door way as Grayson charged forth and ossed the chair at the window one last time; chair crashing through the window, alarms blaring and shattered glass covering the grass and bushes below.
He looked down; he was on the third floor, at least 40 feet up. He saw windowsills 10 feet apart. He cracked his knuckles as the phone rang. He thought about ignoring it, it was probably just someone asking about the alarm from his broken window, but what if it could lead to some help? He rushed over and answered the phone.
Grayson
Hello?
Clerk
I have a delivery for Grayson Pierce.
Grayson
They’re already at my door.
Clerk
Huh?
Grayson
Nevermind. What… what do you mean delivery?
Clerk
It’s a bouquet of Lilies.
The flowers of death… why did he know that?
Grayson
Flowers? Who are they from?
Clerk
Um… it says Gem…
The door broke open and Grayson dropped the phone and climbed out the window. He dropped to the second floor window sill and grabbed onto the edge. Then he looked up and saw the Hell’s Angels members looking down at him.
Short Stuff
Go down, he’s gonna drop!
Grayson thought about his training. Fuck you Jim Ross, you CAN learn to fall from 20 feet in the air. He closed his eyes and prayed to whoever would listen.
Grayson
With your helpful arms, catch me.
He let go. The world seemed to slow down. He opened his eyes. Step one keep your eyes open. You wanted to see the highest point which was the rain clouds in the sky. He felt the cool drops fall on his face and didn’t brace for the fall. He didn’t want any tension as he was going to land as most injuries occur while trying to prevent them.
He knew the ground was going to be softer, and he was hoping to land in the bushes. He was hoping for nothing more than a few scrapes and bruises, but was expecting a broken arm. Better than a broken neck.
Did the clerk say that Gemini Battle got him the flowers?
*CRASH*
He hit hard on the bushes and toppled down to the grass below. He could hardly breathe and then he felt himself being lifted up. He tried to fight but his arms wouldn’t move. He submitted to the will of his kidnapper and allowed himself to be dragged wherever they wanted to take him as his mind moved to a state of pure imagination.
Dream Sequence
He sat in a white room with white floors and white walls. There was a door on the other side of the room. He walked towards it but the closer he got the further away the door got. He walked backwards and the door got closer to a point where it appeared to be moving but was getting neither closer nor farther away.
A brown chair appeared. He sat, because why the fuck not.
Gemini Battle entered form the distant door and walked his way. He walked with a limp for some reason and he sat down on another brown chair that appeared in front of him.
Gemini
You’re killing me, you know.
Grayson
Good.
Gemini
Why are you doing this to me?
Grayson
I could ask you the same thing.
Gemini
Do you remember nearly a year ago when we first met?
He did. He fought with Gemini then, but ultimately Gemini won and he and his family were immersed in the world of drugs and turmoil that Gemini created within his mind, none of which actually happened.
Grayson
No.
Gemini
Don’t you know that I know when you’re lying? We are one in the same.
Grayson
Then why would you ask me?
Gemini
For the same reason that you lied.
*Pause*
Gemini
Why are you doing this to me?
Grayson
I could ask you the same thing.
Gemini
Then I’ll go first.
*Pause*
Gemini
My name is… well you can call me Gemini Battle. I am the physical manifestation of Gluttony. I was injected in you when you were bitten by the wrestler Hyena and became imbedded what you thought was a case of lycanthropy, but it was in fact being infected by me. Hyena knew me as the Great Destroyer, You know me as Gemini Battle. I take different forms for different people. I am here to save all of mankind…
He went on and explained his mission. Grayson had to admit that it seemed considerably noble, though it would take extreme measure for him to achieve his goals.
Gemini
So all I need is for you to accept me as your driver and you to be my vessel.
Grayson
And you’re saying that by doing this it will save mankind?
Gemini
I cannot make a promise like that, but I can assure you that without this mankind is all but doomed.
How could this be true? How could Grayson be the key to the world’s salvation?
Grayson
Thoughts of Grandeur, a typical sign of schizophrenia
Gemini
I feared you might think that.
Grayson
If I’m so important then why did you send the Hell’s Angels after me?
Gemini
I needed you to accept me as your driver. I needed you to hit rock bottom. I tried with the drug addiction, but your friends dragged you out of it. I tried by allowing KL Henson to out me as a ‘multiple personality’ but your family dragged you out of that. I had to eliminate all that made you happy because as Gluttony I have an insatiable hunger for anxiety. The Hell’s Angels supplied that in spades.
Grayson
Then why are you talking to me now? Why are we at the Battle Station?
Gemini
Ah, so you remember it?
Grayson
The white room, how could I forget?
Gemini
Well, all is lost, Grayson. This is rock bottom. The Hell’s Angels are going to kill you, but first they’re going to kill Kat and Teddy. Then they’re going to kill Cliff and Egg, they’ll even kill Damien, your father. They will get to everything that you love because I can’t. They will strip you of everything unless…
*Pause*
Grayson
Unless what?
Gemini
Unless you accept me as your driver and you as the vessel. Accept me and I will save you all.
Grayson thought about this. He was a dead man. He was in the grasp of the Hell’s Angels and his family was in danger. He knew this was true. That wasn’t all in his head. But what would happen to his family if he allowed Gemini to take over. Could he trust Gemini to save his family… could he trust his own mind that this is even happening?
Grayson
I…
He couldn’t finish the sentence. Gemini sat literally at the edge of his seat awaiting the response that he thought he knew was going to happen. It was finally going to be his time. His excitement brought even more hesitance towards Grayson’s answer.
Grayson
I… don’t accept you, Gemini. I can save everyone on my own.
Gemini
I was afraid of this. I didn’t want to give you this ultimatum but I fear you’ve left me no choice. Because the Hell’s Angels are going to kill you once you wake up, or maybe even before if you’re lucky. If you die, then I die. I can’t die, Grayson, so I’m going to have to remove myself from you.
This was the best news that Grayson had heard in forever.
Grayson
You can just do that?
Gemini
Yes, but it comes at a price.
Grayson
What’s the price?
Gemini
Your life.
Grayson
What?
Gemini
I can remove myself from you but it will kill you. Once infected with Gluttony the only way to remove it is with your life. This is a lifetime infection.
Grayson thought about this proposition. He was dead either way it seemed. If he let Gemini take control he could at least try to save his family. He would still be in there, deep down inside. He would be able to make his way back up to the forefront. He knew it.
But how long, and would it be soon enough. And could he even trust anything Gemini was saying? He had perennially lied to him, he made a habit out of it. It sucked that Gemini could tell when Grayson was lying but it didn’t work the other way around.
Or did it?
He stared into the black cold eyes of Gemini Battle who looked back intently. He tried to discern his poker face. He looked dead serious, but.
Grayson
I’ll take my chances.
Gemini
Suit yourself.
The world became black.
Back to Reality
“Do you know the Muffin Man, the muffin man, the Muffin Man. Do you know the Muffin Man who lives on Drury lane?”
Grayson
I’ve never met him.
He opened his eyes and saw the street signs blazing past him. He heard the familiar tune and his whole body became warm. Excitement filled the drowsy vehicle.
Kat
Thank god you’re alive.
You’re not kidding.
Kat
I thought… I didn’t want to take you to the hospital. I’m so happy you’re alive. How oculd you pull a stunt like that.
Grayson
It worked, didn’t it?
Kat
Just because it worked doesn’t make it right! The end doesn’t justify the means.
Teddy
Goo!
Grayson
YEA BOY!
He sat up and felt sore all over his body, but saw the Pennsylvania state line. He was out of Philly and on his way…
Grayson
Where are we going?
Kat
To the next show. The show must go on!
Fuck yea. I’m coming for you, Occulo!
