PARRIS ISLAND, N.C.
After what promised to be a potentially rewarding career for former WCF wrestler Douglas Murdock has taken a drastic and potentially career-ending turn for the worst before his career could even begin. What would take the normally mild-mannered Murdock and set him on this path? According to those within his training unit, it was having to follow an order that some feel is "archaically outdated" in accordance to more moderately thinking Marines. Regardless, some consider the order to "pray" not a sufficient reason to hospitalize a Navy Chaplain during the performance of his official duties.
Meanwhile, Pvt. Joseph Robert "Joe Bob" Bullish, the platoon-mate of Doug Murdock at Parris Island has stated for the record "Prayer in any capacity, and especially when ordered to, is just downright offensive! And I'm glad SOMEBODY put that damned televangelist in Chaplain's clothing in his place!!!" Several others within the platoon barked in agreement, before Pvt. Bullish yelled "BATES IN 2016!!!", to which the entire platoon began to howl like wolves.
When asked to get a comment from Douglas Murdock in regards to the disposition of his case, the United States Marine Corps allowed us to actually speak to the young man, who stated "When I joined the United States Marines, I expected some sort of separation of Church and State, yet everyday, we're told to recite some sort of "Rifleman's Prayer" every night! And then I was told I was supposed to become some sort of Minister of Death? I'm SO not religious!!!" When confronted with these allegations, Col. Marcus Peters, Lead Attorney on the pending JAG case, stated "We have no idea what this young man is talking about! Church is optional! I think the young man may have been watching Full Metal Jacket one too many times."
Peters has also gone on record to state "When his family's farm was attacked, we were concerned that perhaps he had heard the news, but somehow this may have affected his behavior in some way. This is not open and shut, but we're all looking into this with our eyes as wide open as we can get them. Trust us when we come to a verdict that it will be the best one that we can come to." Murdock faces several charges, all relating to Assault. He will be charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and is facing a maximum of 25 years incarceration if charged with the maximum penalty. He also faces the potential to receive a Dishonorable Discharge upon the completion of his sentence. If charged, he will most likely be remanded to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to serve out his sentence.
