Biography
Dr. George Spencer Murdock II, Psy.D (born March 31, 1983, at Hamilton, New York), better known as "Gonzo" Deuce Murdock, is an American professional wrestler and a retired Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy. He is currently signed to the WCF as a singles wrestler. He is a member of the Murdock wrestling family, a well-known and renowned American wrestling dynasty based in New York State. Throughout his career, he has recorded over 30 title wins, to include four World Titles, and has won titles in three different decades (90's, 00', and 10's), winning his first title ever at the age of 16.
Early Life
Gonzo was born to George Murdock, Sr., a professional wrestler who's career was cut short after losing his leg in an automobile accident, and Lauren Scherden, a day laborer. Gonzo's parents split up shortly before he was born. Gonzo grew up poor on the Oneida Indian Reservation, and was considered a "troublesome child" by most of his teachers and coaches growing up. At age 16, he quit school, completed his GED, and became a professional wrestler, lying about his age when he joined his first wrestling federation. Two years after the beginning of a promising career that had already netted him two World Title wins, Gonzo was blackballed from professional wrestling for poor conduct that was conducive to a dangerous working environment, though this would be lifted in 2005, when he joined a global-scale wrestling organization in Europe. Gonzo's last two World Title wins were in global organizations headquartered in London, United Kingdom, and later in Kyoto, Japan.
Military Career
Gonzo later joined the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, then later as a SEAL, after qualifying for BUD/S. Gonzo served 11 years with the SEAL's, earning several awards for valor in the process (See Awards Below). Gonzo also has the distinction of being one of the most decorated military members in the OEF/OIF Campaign. His awards include one Navy Cross, two Silver Stars, three Bronze Stars (with "V" device), and two Purple Hearts, to include one for injuries sustained that resulted in the loss of Gonzo's right foot in 2013. He has also been nominated for the United States Congressional Medal of Honor on two separate occasions, though nothing has come of his citations. He has been rumored to have worked for the Special Activities Division of the CIA, though he will not confirm or deny these allegations.
Professional Wrestling Career
(WCF Specific)
Gonzo signed with the WCF in August, 2014, making his debut on the WCF's pay-per-view, Revenge, on August 31, 2014, defeating defeating Scorpio, Asher Cole, and Apocalypse. During the match, Gonzo connected with the Chuck Norris Special on every opponent in the match, though most fans did not care for or paid much attention at first.
Breakthrough
On September 28, 2014, during War XIII, Gonzo entered the War match at the 8th spot, and proceeded to stay in the match for over an hour and a half, with only Jonny Fly and eventual winner Bobby Cairo logging in more time. During this match, Gonzo eliminated Ultimate Destroyer and Cormack MacNeil back-to-back, before eliminating Zombie McMorris and forcing PANTHEON from the ring, to include Jonny Fly. This match made him a huge fan favorite due to his ability to earnestly compete despite a glaring physical handicap, as well as his status as an Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom Veteran.
The Pack/Armageddon Now!
During War XIII, Gonzo was eliminated by four of the six members left in The Pack at War XIII, after eliminating one of their members from the match much earlier in the match. After Gonzo went on to defeat every active member of The Pack, to include the injury to Jay Omega's knee at Helloween, which forced him out of action, as well as forcing him to vacate the United States Title. During this timeframe, Gonzo allied himself with Steeltoe Joe, Eric Price, and later Roy Speede, in an effort to maintain a competitive edge against the likes of The Pack, PANTHEON, and the Vapor Kings. The alliance, called Armageddon Now!, was very short-lived, as most of the active members of the group are not active in the WCF as of press time.
WCF Classic/United States Title
Due to the injury sustained at the hands of Gonzo, the United States Title was declared vacated and the WCF Classic Tournament was declared to determine a new United States Champion. During this tournament, Gonzo managed to eliminate Ryan Blake, Alex Richards, and Kaz Mazy, before meeting Roy Speede in the WCF Classic Finals. Gonzo managed to defeat Roy Speede, winning the 2014 WCF Classic Cup and the WCF United States Title, both firsts for Gonzo in the WCF, after only four months of active competition.
Vapor Kings/Return of Roy Speede/ONE
Upon winning the United States Title, the Vapor Kings, consisting of Natural "ICE" Beckman, Steve Orbit, and Zombie McMorris, attacked Gonzo in the middle of the ring, before declaring him a target. Undeterred, Gonzo defended his title against Zombie McMorris and Roy Speede, whom Gonzo granted a rematch, in a Ladder Match at One. Gonzo managed to retain on the largest stage in the WCF, after kicking Zombie McMorris off the top of a ladder.
Injuries/Illness/Behind the Curtain
Due to mounting injuries and a severe illness, Gonzo was forced to vacate the United States title on February 22, 2015, after injuries sustained in a match with Jay Omega, and later in a backstage incident with Joey Flash. Prior to these incidents, Gonzo had been suffering the ill effects of the onset of Addison's Disease. As a result, Gonzo started to transition to backstage talent, as he began production of "Behind the Curtain", a biopic show that features significant members of the WCF roster, both past and present. The show is highly popular among wrestling fans of all ages.
Trios Cup/Bates and Gemini/DRG Nomad
Despite recovering from injuries and illness, Thomas Uriel Bates and Gemini Battle offered Gonzo a spot on their Trios Cup team, which Gonzo accepted. Despite major concerns about his health in his first match, Gonzo competed without any incident, as Bates picked up the pinfall for their team with relative ease. In response to their success in the first round, Bates offered both Gonzo and Battle membership into the Dark Riders Gang Motorcycle Club, to which Gonzo accepted as a member of the Nomad Chapter, indicating Gonzo's autonomous position within the club. In the second round, the Gemini Battle managed to pin Odin Balfore of Imperium (Pooncock Saints branch) in a major upset victory. The next opponents for the team is the other half of Imperium (Vapor Kings branch), consisting of Natural "ICE" Beckman, Zombie McMorris, and Joey Flash, who were eliminated when Joey Flash fell victim to Bates during the match. This marks the first time in his career that Gonzo was able to completely overcome his woes with the Vapor Kings. The Defilers of Logic went on to face Two and a Half Black Men, a team consisting of Jonny Fly, Steve Orbit, and Corey Black, who was injured coming into this match. Gonzo managed to pin Corey Black, securing victory for the Defilers of Logic, while securing himself a Number 1 Contendership for the WCF World Heavyweight Championship, entering for the first time in over six years a World Title picture. Though not scheduled, he assumed to be scheduled to face Dune, the current and new WCF World Heavyweight Champion, at Blast.
Persona and Reception
Gonzo considers himself a "free spirit" who is unwilling to allow blatant atrocities to go unpunished, which has put him at odds with several groups and members of the roster during his short time in the WCF. The fans support him due to his perceived "underdog" status, his military service, and his unique style of wrestling, which is a hybrid of MMA and traditional wrestling. His striking ability is something to be feared, as he has floored numerous wrestlers, to include Super-Heavyweigts, with his patented "Chuck Norris Special" on many occasions. The term "Giant-Killer" has been used to describe Gonzo throughout his entire wrestling career, regardless of his alignment.
Personal Life
Gonzo is of Iroquois, Acadian, Irish, and German-Japanese decent. His grandfather on his mother's side, Robert Joseph Scherdon (1916-1987), an Orthodox Jew, escaped Germany shortly before the beginning of World War II, and earned three Distinguished Service Crosses during World War II on the European Front during his military service, despite his racial heritage being predominantly German and Japanese. He is distantly related to General Hideki Tojo, the Japanese general ultimately held responsible for the war crimes Japan committed during World War II. His father, George Murdock (1963-2007), is a retired professional wrestler responsible for most of Gonzo's wrestling training. He also received martial arts training by his stepfather, Sensei Richard Warren (1955-2013), an 8th Degree Black Belt in traditional Japanese Jujitsu and a Hall of Fame member of the American Jiu-Jutsu Dojo Foundation. His cousin, Simon Murdock, is a professional arm-wrestling champion who has competed on the international circuit, and is currently ranked #173 worldwide.
Gonzo has been married three times, divorced twice, and widowed once. He has declared himself a "permanent bachelor" as a result of his failed relationships. Gonzo has fathered two children, James Michael (2004-2009) fathered with his second wife, and Taylor Marie (b. 2009), fathered with fellow professional wrestler and ex-fiancee Ryann Hardy. Gonzo also fathered a child with his first wife, who later passed away in an automobile accident. The child, name unknown, passed away several hours later due to trauma and premature birth.
As a result of his injuries, Gonzo has a marijuana card for pain management, and is a staunch advocate for the use of Medical Marijuana, as well as an advocate for the use of hemp materials for textile production and building materials.
Gonzo considers himself a "Renaissance Man", as he is skilled and holds either degrees or certifications in several fields of study, to include martial arts and sciences, psychology, language, literature, film and television production, theology, electrical engineering, medical sciences, pharmaceuticals, culinary arts, botany, zoology, and occupational therapy.
Gonzo is a Freemason in good standing, since 2004. He has officially performed Master of Ceremonies at various Lodges worldwide, and continues to hold that title, albeit in an "unofficial" capacity.
Education
Gonzo has earned a Psy. D from the University of Maryland, College Park, with an emphasis on Social/Community Psychology.
Gonzo is a known polyglot, who's known to be fluent in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and Japanese, along with his native language of English. The extent of his language skills is unknown, but has been known to do commentary overdubs for WCF material translated into multiple languages.
