Just writing my rp this week and thinking about the importance of the shoot.
I feel I'm a strong shooter and I'm trying to think of why.
I feel a big part of it is the closing of the shoot. That final line or lines that really puts a pin in what you're saying. Has anyone else been writing a shoot and gotten to a line where you're like "that's it, I have to end it there!" But felt like you had more to write.
It's happened to me a few times.
Also sometimes I just keep writing until I find that line. And it doesn't come until way late and I feel my shoot ends up being redundant.
I don't think I did that this week but I just thought it would be interesting to see what other strong shooters feel about the situation.
Thoughts?

I always try to find the least obvious things to shoot on, or if they are the "normal" things, I try to make it unique to my character.
The last few lines are definitely the clincher. It lets the readers - and Seth - know that you're coming for them.
I feel like shoot is the most important part of a promo. Stories and CD are great too, but there's something about the shoot. Most of our characters have pretty fantastic/wild stories and the shoot grounds you back into the world we all live in: the WCF ring.
Most of the time, I shoot from the hip. I try not to overthink it too much or else I feel like it will come off too "scripted". So I'll just keep going until I feel like I can call it a day.
Remember folks, the shoot is what will give your character his voice. The trick is making your character sound confident in his ability to succeed. If you don't believe it, why would anyone else?

I guess just keep going and saying as much shit as you can think of.

Definitely agree about the closing being crucial Gemini. Gotta end on a strong note.
I always try to convey a sense of finality at the end of a shoot. As a reader if a shoot just kinda fizzles out it's a lot less satisfying than an awesome go-home portion, even if it's just a few lines. It's like writing a persuasive speech. You don't want to finish and have the audience wondering if you're done. If you've got an effective ending there wont' be any question. IMO

Shooting is pretty much something that I could never do properly. I just don't feel it comes naturally with the style and how my RPs tend to go. I don't like to do something if it feels forced, so to speak.
Unfortunately, due to time restraints this week, my RP had to be cut short so I did feel it was forced enough already.

You could shoot in such a unique way considering your character.

I guess I probably could, I'll work on trying a full on one for my next match to test the waters. When I get a story in place I'll need to do it more often anyway.

You lost a party member, you don't have any scrolls of resurrection. You made a depression save and rolled a one. Unlucky my friend but that's how the dice roll.
