11/12/06 Entry: Two weeks of being Hardcore Champion and I’ve recovered fully from my match. One or two scars will stay permanently, but all that means is that the scar on my left leg has a partner on the right. I don’t mind them as much – a tribute to my efforts. What I’m now worried about is neither Danny Vice or JJ. Biggs – I’m worried about motivation. I stated to the world that my crusade would end when I got my life back. I’ve done just that. I’ve returned and taken my belt, my daughter, everything I hold dear. So now what? I have no fury anymore. I’ve grown smart enough as the Fury Crusader to realise fate will not get me anywhere. So what now? Where do I go from here? Who am I?
The scene begins on a beach at sunset. It is calm, a soft wind is blowing, and the waves rush gently up the beach sand and back again. The beach is entirely deserted save Skyler Striker walking down across the waves, his feet wet every time the water rushes up. His attire is different to normal, however, changed in the reflection of his personality yet again. His shirt is a light blue, buttons open, allowing it to float behind him in the wind. His maroon pants are still the same, self-caused tears down both sides to show the twin scars on his legs. His sunglasses are rested on his hair, which is coloured blonde with red streaks through it. As the wind blows past him, he shakes himself off, and his sunglasses fall into the sand. He goes to pick them up but hesitates for a moment, the water rushing up and splashing the sunglasses.
SS: This… is frustrating. No matter who I am, I’m never secure. I want that. I need to find who I am, and what motivation I have. Winning is not motivation enough. I need something more. I need a reason to live and fight. As bad as it may sound, Jade’s presence has taken my motivation away. My life is in a dead zone at the moment. I don’t know.
Skyler stands back up again and stares out at the ocean, where a few seagulls are fighting over a fish that one has caught. The seagull with the fish in its mouth is finding it hard to fight off the other, as the fish is hampering it from defending itself, and in the end it drops the fish, which the second seagull catches and flies away with, while the first seagull flies back to land, albeit a little crooked.
SS: The title match I have tomorrow night is not for my title. It is not for either of Thunder’s titles either. It is for another set of titles. For the Tag Team Titles. To be honest, I never saw why people bother with tag teams. A partner is a hindrance. Nothing more. But in that same way, a title is an achievement. And I will fight for that title as if it were the crusade all over again. My partner… I’m a little suspicious of you, Thunder. Your motivation isn’t noble, or honourable, but I suppose it’s motivation nonetheless. More than I have at this point. I don’t doubt your skills, but I’ll leave your part in the ring to you. Don’t be letting me down.
Skyler looks down at his sunglasses and leaves them there, crushing them under his foot as he continues along the beach.
SS: This is the end of an era. In six months, I have begun and ended two eras. And soon I will begin a third. The Fatebringer Era has passed. The Fury Crusader Era has passed. One more era will begin, but even I’m not sure of what it is yet. And that, Disorder by Design, should put you on notice. To J.J. Biggs – you may be a former World Champion, but I’m the current Hardcore Champion. Thunder is both People’s Champion and Television Champion. Three titles against one set of two. We have the advantage. Like those seagulls earlier, your titles are like the fish. While you’re holding them, you’re blinded by them. Your titles are the ones on the line. You have something to lose – Thunder and I do not. And that is why we will take you down come tomorrow night at Slam.
Skyler stops, staring out at the sea once more. The water rushes up the beach and soaks his shoes completely, but he does not notice.
SS: As if it was the crusade all over again… motivation has not deserted me. Now I’m certain I can and will win. I have my motivation. The fury crusade may have ended – but the new crusade has begun. Tomorrow night, one half of the new tag champions will be “The Crusader” Skyler Striker.
Skyler continues staring at the sea as the scene ends.
