The scene opens in a luxurious hotel room, but where it is located is far from clear. It is instantly obvious that this is not a room any ordinary person could afford to stay in. Only those who have an amazing amount of money could stay in a room such as this. Every piece of furniture is as ornate and expensive as could be: red carpeting that most could only dream of having on their floor; the oak tables and chairs are hand carved; a huge bed with satin sheets sits at the end of the room, just right of the entrance to the bathroom; inside the bathroom it can be seen that the sink and bathtub are both made of marble; there is a walk-in closet larger than some rooms people have in their homes; expensive oil paintings hang from the walls. This is truly a dream hotel room, and there is certainly no doubt that Thunder, the man in the room, is one of those few people who can afford a room as great as this. Hanging on the wall opposite the bed is a huge flat-screen TV that is playing Thunder’s Hardcore Title Match against Sklyer Striker from last week’s Sunday Slam. Thunder is not watching. Instead, he is staring at the floor. He shows the wounds of the Hardcore Title Match last week: huge bandage on his forehead, and there is most likely another bandage on his ribs, but it is hidden by the suit. As Thunder speaks, he continues to look down to the floor.
Last week at Sunday Slam, I participated in what was by far the most brutal and draining match of my career. For that one night, I forgot all my technical wrestling moves and focuses on one thing: putting my body on the line to win the Hardcore Title. Skyler Striker, the man I hold the Tag Titles with, did the same. The result was a bloody brawl that would have ended with me winning the Hardcore Title, but something happened. As I stood atop a ladder with Skyler Striker, our match came to a screeching halt. A very jealous and bitter man tipped over that ladder, effectively ending the match. Soon after, a man equally jealous and biter man came out and helped the first man attacked us. I’ll deal with the second man, J.J. Biggs at One, but this week my focus is on the first man.
Thunder reaches into his suit pocket and pulls out a cigarette and a lighter. He lights the cigarette and stuffs the lighter back into his pocket. After taking a few puffs of the cigarette, Thunder continues to speak, with breaks for smoking.
That man is Danny Vice. So many words could be used to describe him. He prefers to be a vagrant, which is nothing to be proud of to begin with, but there are other words I can think of: coward, untalented, overrated, sore loser, irrational. I could go on for days with other adjectives, but those are essential to the personality of Danny Vice. Let’s look at the different parts one by one.
Another puff of smoke, then Thunder speaks again.
The first two are pretty obvious: Danny is untalented and overrated. Want proof? Just look back to how Danny has fared against Striker and myself. We beat his tag team to win the tag titles that Danny didn’t even win. And I seem to recall a ladder match against Striker in which Danny lost, leading to Striker winning the Hardcore Title from Jack of Blades. So despite all these losses, Danny believes he is so great and talented. Sounds to me that young Daniel Vice is untalented and overrated, and no one can argue against that.
Last week, Danny showed what other two parts there are to his personality. He couldn’t accept defeat. It was eating you up Danny, the loss of the tag titles that is. You finally accomplished something and your life and then POOF! it’s gone. How horrible that must have felt. And being an irrational man, there was only one way to express your anger: you had to take a cheap shot. You just couldn’t wait to settle in the ring, oh no. Being the irrational sore loser that you are, you had to take the coward’s way out. But I’m a rational man. I won’t do that.
Thunder now gets up of the bed and stares straight at the camera. Gone is the man earlier who was in a trance. Now he has a point to make.
I’m not getting my revenge the way you got yours Danny. I’m waiting until we enter the ring this week at Sunday Slam. And when I do, I’ll make you regret. Just like in the Hardcore Title Match, there’s nothing I won’t do this match. If I bleed, so be it. I’ve already got the stitches and I’m prepared for more. Nothing can prepare you for the hell that awaits you.
With that last statement, Thunder appears to go back to his previous state. He sits back down on the bed and continues to smoke as the scene fades.
