The scene opens up with Danny Vice sitting in a very large, comfortable, leather chair in the middle of a set in a television studio. The chair looks like one that Robin Leach used to sit in during “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” However, the last several months have been anything but “champagne wishes and caviar dreams” for the WCF’s newest Tag Team Champion. A large wheeled camera slides along its path to get in position to record a taped interview segment. The large logo along the side of the camera alerts the audience that this taping is going to be for one of San Diego’s most popular morning shows. “Good Morning, San Diego” on SD4 has always been a staple of the metropolitan lifestyle. Bands have gotten their “big break” there, major figures in the community have been interviewed, and now…now that he has finally broken through and claimed WCF gold, Danny “The Vagrant” Vice is going to get his moment of glory in his hometown.
A television producer, complete with headphones and microphone, is aiding The Vagrant place his own microphone in optimal positioning for the interview. She is there to also go over the basic format of the interview.
Producer Lady: Ok Danny, I just wanted to thank you on the behalf of everyone here at the station for being open to us interviewing you.
The Vagrant: No problem at all. It’s The Vagrant’s pleasure to be here.
PL: So Tag Team Champion huh? This is a huge step for you.
TV: One which took too long.
PL: Ya, I’m a huge fan of Logan and the Team of Treachery. It’s pretty amazing that you were the surprise tag teammate and new member.
TV: Always keeping you on your toes.
PL: Haha. Yeah. Well we’re going to be on in under a minute. Basically, we’ll talk about your new title, the ToT, and then what’s going on with the whole Jack of Blades/Skyler Striker/Dake Ken/Danny Vice thing. Sound good?
TV: Just get The Vagrant a camera and he’ll put on one helluva show.
PL: Ok everyone! We’re on in 5, 4, 3…
The producer moves out of the way just as famous San Diego journalist Veronica Corningstone takes the seat next to The Vagrant. The red light hits on the studio as Danny and Veronica are on the air, as the rest of the studio audience and staff go silent.
Veronica Corningstone: And welcome back San Diego, this is Veronica Corningstone, live to you with a very special guest. This man to my right, is the newest WCF Tag Team Champion, a local resident of San Diego, and a hero and idol to multitudes of fans….ladies and gentleman….Danny “The Vagrant” Vice.
TV: Thanks Veronica. Thank you for showing your respect to greatness.
VC: Absolutely. So Danny, tell us, what was it like to hold championship gold this past Sunday on Slam.
TV: To tell you the truth, The Vagrant has not had a more proud moment in the WCF. This was so long in the making that the culmination of energy, excitement, and anticipation was truly incredible. The Vagrant has worked long and hard to discharge the pain and suffering of his and his family’s past, and that moment did precisely that.
VC: Your honesty is inspiring. Danny, with you, it’s all about truth. That’s beautiful.
TV: The Vagrant doesn’t mind being an idol, but he is certainly no role model.
VC: So, tell us. What is it like to be a part of the Team of Treachery?
TV: So far, he’s had very limited contact with everyone. He’s spoken most with JJ Biggs of course, and with Logan as far as getting involved, but everyone has been so busy. Lawnmower Jones is going to be a proud daddy soon and Jack of Blades has been busy with that nuisance Skyler Striker.
VC: It seems you and Skyler have become friendly as of late…
TV: Never. Skyler Striker is not one The Vagrant would associate with. His in-ring ability are to be commended and respected, but that man is truly insane.
VC: In comparison to Jack of Blades you think Skyler is the insane one?
TV: Absolutely. Skyler Striker believes in fantasies and fairy tales. He romanticizes the real world to the point where the line between his dreams and reality has been completely blurred. What kind of man truly believes the destiny and fate are guiding him to ultimate supremacy? That with those things alone can make one great? Only hardwork, determination, and a ruthless willingness to be an instrument of suffering, pain, and destruction will lead to championships. And now, he talks about his fury leading him on a crusade! He honestly believes his “fury” will take him on a great and noble campaign? That is true insanity. And notice, he lacks championship gold like Jack of Blades and The Vagrant.
VC: And Jack of Blades. I was shocked to see you join with them after you and he have had a little bit of history before School of Pain. Didn’t you attack him when the two of you were teammates in a tag match?
TV: Yes, but that was because Jack refused to allow The Vagrant his opportunity in the match. And that is completely in the past. Speaking of that tag match, do you know who tapped out to the Vicelock that night?
VC: I don’t recall but I have a feeling you’re leading us into this week’s main event on Slam…
TV: You are correct, my sweet Ms. Corningstone. Dake Ken was the one who tapped out in that match leading up to School of Pain. And all it took that night was a dropkick, shining wizard, and the Vicelock. This week on Slam, let’s see if The Vagrant can win it in a mere two moves!
VC: That’s rather confident of you. Dake Ken has been a #1 contender for multiple titles over the past few months and was a staple of the New Dynasty.
TV: No, Veronica, my sweet. Dake Ken is no better than a fraud. Just as Skyler Striker is insane, Dake Ken is a joke. One minute Dake is on a roll and fighting for the Hardcore Title, and the next he completely disappears off the face of the earth. Then he’s right back there, taking people to their ultimate extremes, and then suddenly he’s pinned by the Team of Treachery in the first few minutes of Hellimination. There is a reason why Dake Ken tapped out once before to the Vicelock, and a reason why he will do so once again. He is weak. Soft. Absolutely lacking of any form of will. The great Seth Lerch should simply cancel the main event this week and refund the intolerable WCF fans their money, because this is no better than an Iraqi public execution.
VC: Well are you not worried that some kind of negative stipulation for Jack of Blades will occur if you in fact do defeat Dake Ken?
TV: When, not if, but WHEN The Vagrant takes care of business at Slam, he will not worry about the reason Skyler Striker selected him, or the consequences that will occur for Jack of Blades at Revenge. Jack of Blades is a champion, just like The Vagrant.
VC: Speaking of Revenge, any plans for you and JJ Biggs with those tag team titles?
TV: JJ Biggs has already dismantled The Sick Individuals without The Vagrant’s help. AJ Storm and Davey Ortega were no match last week. As of now, there is nothing in the WCF keeping this from being one of histories greatest all-time reigns.
VC: Well thank you so much Danny, and we all know you will do San Diego proud on Sunday night. Now, here’s Brian Fantana with weather…
The camera cuts off of Danny and Veronica as Danny leans in to whisper something in her ear. She smiles brightly as she nods her head in the affirmative. They both get their microphones off quickly and leave out the backdoor of the studio together. The scene fades out…
