Here are the current WCF PPVs, and the gimmicks behind them, if any.
January: Payback February: Timebomb - Trilogy Cup Tournament Begins March: Explosion - Trilogy Cup Tournament Continues April: Aftermath - Trilogy Cup Tournament Ends May: Asesinato De Mayo - Trios Cup Tournament Ends June: Blast July: Ultimate Showdown - Ultimate Showdown Match August: Revenge September: War - War Match October: Helloween - Hellimination Match December: One - Grand Finale Matches
So, long story short, in a lot of ways we have a lot of PPVs with gimmicks to them. I think in most cases this is awesome because it is part of our history and it makes every month interesting! That said, we got here by adding things as time went on, so are there any traditions you think should be altered or changed? Anything you think should be altered?
Recent suggestions have been a Money in the Bank type match or a Taboo Tuesday type show. Do you guys think those fit in anywhere?

Blast could be the MITB style PPV, easily. Win the briefcase or whatever there and you've got plenty of spots to choose from to cash in before One, unless you wanna pull a Rollins and wait till One.

For the record, if you won a MITB style briefcase, it would be "tell Seth you're cashing in that week, assuming the Champion is booked, and roleplay better than him/her and run in to win the belt" type thing. It would be very rough on the Champion - almost too much show IMO. but who knows!

For me the amount of gimmick themed stuff really harms long term feuds because rather than intense builds into big matches you can get caught up in jumping through hoops.
Myself and Dune have been waiting like four months to be able to concentrate and push a storyline because of it and it really effects the intensity and quality. I think in short what WCF is missing and I'd love more is more singles matches and feuds. It was telling on the podcast when asked 'What was the best storyline?' people were really struggling to answer.
Such are my thoughts!

I haven't really seen the gimmick matches in full effect yet although I'm really looking forward to War and to seeing how Ultimate Showdown plays out. The rest I'm gonna need to archive-dive to get a better understanding of.
I'm torn in this sense, whilst gimmick matches are usually more globally acceptable to the roster as they tend to include people who without them would not be doing very much at that that particular time, I feel that I'd have to somewhat agree with Flash. It can be really hard to keep a steady singles feud going when one participant or both are entered into gimmick matches to end each month where the feud they are building really needs that PPV exposure. I will however say that these matches do break the mediocrity a bit a make for a more interesting read on the results, it's something different to aim for and can make roleplaying a whole lot easier as it gives you the match type itself to feed from as well.
Already said in the chat when Spencer popped the idea out but the last big fed I was in ran a Taboo Tuesday type deal when I was doing the booking although I didn't get involved in it for a few months as I thought it was going to be an absolute mess. The guys that initially took control of it though made it something that everybody enjoyed. I wouldn't make it a PPV however, instead go for like 3 or 4 Slams out of the year, every 12 weeks or something. Simple enough to set up, on the day that the provisional card is posted each match gets a voting poll thread, you lose a day of roleplay, giving people 24 hours to vote, the votes are tallied then the card gets posted and people have from Monday night up until deadline. That's the way we done it anyway and it usually worked out well. It can be used to get people involved in feuds more often than it kills them too, if somebody has a say in how a match is carried out then they are more likely to read how it plays: common human self indulgence. We all secretly nurse that god complex deep down somewhere.
So for Taboo Tuesday: I'm a conditional Yes!
As for MITB, that's basically a big dick in the champions ear. All you'd have to do is lurk around chat and OOC until you read someone needs a week off. Unless it's done with strict rules, which basically makes it... well, not MITB but a conditional contendership match. "If you win this match you might get a shot at a belt in the next year, if it's okay with Seth, and the champion, and nobody's booked up, and you give us three months warning" I think there could probably be some sort of way to work it but I'm relatively certain it's a complete dickfest waiting to happen, have never seen it done though so that's an alluring factor if we can work some way that it doesn't leave every upper-card feud with their exposed asshole in the air, waiting for somebody to deliver the proverbial sodom of cashing it in.
So for MITB: Right now, I'm a no. Not unless someone has a good way to do it that doesn't cause a communal aneurysm.

I've thought about how a Money in te Bank would work on an e-fed. I don't think it should exist because it is unfair to the champion. He would never know when the mr money in the bank is rping against him... I honestly agree with the current PPVs gimmicks, it's what makes WCF special.

MITB is one that is super interesting but could be tricky. We could modify the formula to say you get booked the week you want for a title match. It would play IC on guys like Flash or Howard Black when they wait or were waiting for there title matches. That way if a top guy goes in and earns it, he can say "hey Seth, I'd like to cash in and be booked this week." That way it wouldn't be a total dick in the ear to the champ or champs depending on if there were one or two briefcases. I also see it as a career builder type of thing in a way. I could imagine some of those guy's on the very verge of a breakthrough like Richards or Crow being good examples of using it as a way to add a little hype and mystique to their characters as well. It would probably have to be a little in advance like that but would come off more like that. I could see where it could harm but this would be the only way it wouldn't piss anybody off really. It would be cool to see the match at one or payback maybe and see someone go "I want a spot in the main event at One. Book it." (IC sort of attitude of course. I just like the idea of anything that can potentially build up another top guy.

Is the WCF Classic going to be held this year? November could be a good time to run that tournament, for whatever reason.
Money in the Bank is such a pain in the ass. It can ruin ongoing feuds and it really makes the World Title less valuable based on how it operates. Massive amounts of title turnovers really do devalue the titles, and with MitB, I see the same thing happening here, even if it is once a year. Though on the flipside, if used correctly, MitB can really help to start Main Event feuds that last longer than one month at a time.
Going with No for MitB, for now.
As for Taboo Tuesday, I could see this working if we did the voting a month in advance. Again, I think November would be the best time for a Taboo Tuesday event to go off. Even if its not at the end of the month, but maybe in the middle? And people who can't participate in November can request to be left off of the voting.
Tentative Yes for Taboo Tuesday!

Yeah, a PPV similar to Taboo Tuesday would be a funny thing.

I'm going to second what Flash said with a caveat. If gimmick matches freed up the champion and who he wanted to feud with, then no harm to foul.
The bigger thing, for me, is that too many of the gimmick matches end in "you get a title shot". It doesn't really allow the development of organic feuds, and I think if you're trying to get the World Title, you should be at the point where you can create your own feud without having to rely on a gimmick match to justify your shot. Leave the gimmicks for people trying to break into the uppercard.

I agree with Joey.
I also am I not a big fan of money in the bank because it's so stacked against the champion. It's hard enough with ultimate showdown and WAR.

Yeah, a PPV similar to Taboo Tuesday would be a funny thing.
I actually wouldn't mind a ppv where the roster votes for a stip for each of the matches. Might be hard to write though and the results would have to be late.

Writing the shock of finding out what the stipulation is will be a lot easier than doing this all on the fly and then the confusion of what is what...
Perhaps we adjust the show to be on a Wednesday, with the same Deadline, but a few days to get the show assembled. Though I don't know how people's schedules will work around that scenario.

I think the schedule is perfect. Wrve got three true gimmick matches... War, showdown, and hellimination. Trikogy is a tournament involving less and less people and isna chance for people in the midcard to bump their ways up to the main card. Trios is voluntary. Other than that theres no reason you cant have a feud. Just because you dont get a payoff at the first ppv means you extend it to the second or third.
Me and henson are running an angle...im already scheduled at showdiwn.... Doesnt mean we have to not feud. I dont understnad that thought

Okay, so I've been thinking about how to do a MITB match. And how that stipulation could work within the confines of the WCF. I'm thinking the ladder match is fine as it is, but instead of cashing in a briefcase when you win, you have a wildcard that you can activate three weeks before a PPV. So, for instance, if the PPV is originally booked to be Fly Vs Dune for the title, but Gemini Battle has won the Wildcard, Gemini could activate it, and turn that match into a triple threat. As with the MITB, Gemini has the wildcard for a year. The wildcard only adds you to a match, it does not subtract a wrestler. It also has to be activated no later than three weeks before the PPV match, giving the opponents time to prepare. It also has to be a PPV match, so that the title holder can keep that in the back of his or her mind and not feel jumped or caught off guard. Let's keep it fair for everyone.
As for there being too many gimmick matches? I'm not sure. I'm still a few months shy of being here a full year. I might just hold off a definite answer until I've experienced a full 12 month stint, and then contemplate over the journey. So far, my greatest match has been Odin V Crow, that story just blew me away. It stands as my best E Fed match to date, and I'm very proud of the work that all parties put into that contest. If these gimmick matches however are stiffening the ability for others to experience similar contests? Then maybe it is something that needs to be looked into.

All I have to say is if there are any changes. Please keep Ultimate Showdown and War the same. Those are my favorites and are always fun as hell to participate in with their mad hype! Other than that, do what you will.

Other than that, do what you will. It's really easy to use these matches to advance storylines too, especially War since everyone will be in it. Just takes a bit of creativity. It'd be a bit tougher to advance a feud around some of the other events, but there's always a way to make it work. Still, please don't gimmick every PPV. I think we have decent balance now of some events that can really shake things up and give people an opportunity to break out or progress, and normal shows where people can set up their matches and top contenders can be rewarded with title shots.

After War, because of how involved it was, and the interactions in the ring, you can use it to get yourself involved in a feud or rivalry. In my case, I wound up entangled with The Pack for several months after War because of the interactions. Without it, I may very well have floundered for awhile.
