For months on end, Danny Vice and Thunder have battled on Slam and on PPVs. It all began when Janie turned on her brother and joined forces with his nemesis, Thunder. Now at Payback, their bitter feud will finally reach its final chapter. But this match is about more than revenge and pride; the Hardcore Title is also on the line.

Janie: Wake up!
Thunder was not expecting to hear these words, and thus, nearly jumped out of his skin when it happened. He had been enjoying sleeping through the night, and now suddenly here he was back into reality in what he saw as a very cruel manner. He now could not remember what he had been dreaming about, as was usually the case, but he had figured it had been a good dream. But now he no longer had his eyes closed in a deep trance; now he was in the real world; now he was in his bedroom.
From his spot under the red silk sheets he could see Janie standing at the foot of the bed, dressed in blue jeans and black t-shirt. Despite his drowsiness, Thunder saw that Janie appeared to be slightly irritated. As he continued to regain his bearings, his eyes traveled away from Janie and to the rest of the room: the windows on the left wall, the dresser opposite the bed that stretches for seemingly miles, the flat screen TV that hangs from the wall above the dresser and the mirror below it, the huge walk in closet to the right of the bed, and the bathroom that is connected by a door right night to the closet.
Now in complete control of his thoughts and surroundings, Thunder finally spoke to Janie.
Thunder: What time is it?
Janie: Noon.
Thunder: And why exactly did you give me such a horrible wakeup call?
Janie: Because I want you to remain Hardcore Champion. You kept saying last night that you’d get up real early today to train and watch some of Danny’s matches. I did this for your own good, so don’t start treating me like I’m some horrible person.
Thunder: Don’t you know that I said that just to stop you from worrying about the match? Danny isn’t a threat and you, more than anyone else should know that.
Janie: That’s your problem right there. You’re so arrogant that you think you’ll retain the Hardcore Title just as easily as you won it.
Thunder: I will, and that’s not arrogance. That’s just the truth. Just look at the Hardcore Title Match you just talked about. I proved in that match how great I really am. I won the Hardcore Title without having to outwrestle Danny and Skyler. I did it by outsmarting Danny. He was forced to make the choice between continuing to fight for the title or giving up his chance in order to save Skyler. And of course, Danny had to take the morally right path. I took advantage of his stupidity and now I’m champion. This time Striker won’t be there to play a factor. It’ll just be me and Danny in what I know for sure will be a brutal hardcore match. But as I’ve shown throughout our matches, I can do more than outsmart Danny. He can prepare himself any way he wants to, but I won’t need to. I’ve had Danny’s number countless times and Payback will be no different.
Janie: I would still feel a little better if you did some preparation.
Thunder: Don’t you have any confidence in me at all? You’ve seen me throughout my entire WCF and know what I’m capable of. I held three titles at one time, something no one has ever done before. So try to have a little confidence, a little faith.
Janie: I’m sorry I doubted you.
While Janie was speaking, Thunder pulled back the sheets and sat up in bed, revealing that he is wearing a white t-shirt and boxers.
Thunder: How about we go out today?
Janie: And do what?
Thunder: Doesn’t matter to me.
Janie: Movie?
Thunder: Sounds good. I’ll go take a shower and then call the driver to pick us up.
After Thunder took a shower and dressed himself in more casual clothes than usual (he was wearing a shot-sleeved black button-down shirt and blue jeans, instead of a suit) and walked down to the massive living room, where Janie was sitting on the black leather couch. Thunder had brought his cell phone down with him and was about to call the driver when he saw he had a new message from his driver. He played it, becoming angrier with every passing second.
Driver: Hi. I guess I must have missed you. I just wanted to let you know that I am giving up my job as a limo driver. It’s nothing personal; I just want to go back to school so I can get a job that I really enjoy. I’ll be over in a few minutes to drop the limo and keys off. Bye.
Once Thunder hears the entire message, he throws the phone down on the floor in a rage.
Thunder: How can he do that? He just can’t quit.
Janie: I think he just did.
Thunder: Don’t start giving me those smart ass answers.
Janie: Well, what do we do now?
Thunder: We wait.
And wait is what they did. And when the black limo pulled up in front of Thunder’s mansion, Thunder was there before the driver could even say anything.
Thunder: What’s all this about? You just suddenly decide to quit?
The driver stared at Thunder, his legs becoming like rubber because of how scared he now was.
Thunder: Don’t just look at me. Explain yourself!
Driver: Well, I just really want to head to college and become successful.
Thunder: Success? That’s what you’re looking for? You’re making good money for me right now, but you decide to chase after your little fantasies. There’s a reason why you’re just a limo driver. It’s because you were too stupid to get into some university, or maybe you were just busy getting drunk out of your mind while you were there, and then next thing you know you’re driving a limo to make money. Bravo. And now you’re going to throw your only financial support away because you think you can make something out of yourself all of a sudden. What even compelled you do such a stupid thing?
Driver: I talked to somebody who told me I needed to turn my life around.
Thunder: And who was that?
Driver: Danny Vice.
Thunder at this point was angrier than ever before. His face was even turning red at this point.
Thunder: Get out! I never want to see your face again! Go!
The driver dropped the keys to the limo as he walked away, not even bothering to say anything else. Now Janie is standing on the massive front porch.
Janie: Are you going to drive to the movies now?
Thunder: I don’t feel like going now. Plus, I forgot I have that WCF promo to do in a couple hours.
