As a rule, men worry more about what they can’t see than about what they can.
-Julius Caesar
The scene opens with a tape of WCF Revenge playing. The match is Hardcore Champion Jack of Blades facing Skyler Striker with Danny Vice as the special referee. Striker climbs the top rope and hits Jack of Blades with the Destiny Dive. A groggy Danny Vice counts the pin as Zach Davis can be heard announcing.
“1! 2! 3! THAT’S IT! SKYLER STRIKER HAS DONE IT!”
The tape pauses at the image of Striker hold the Hardcore Title in the air.
Panning back, the room begins to be visible. The TV is extremely large and is flat-screened. Below it on the entertainment center is a DVD player and a VCR. Panning back even more, the red carpet can be seen, later a wood table with glass in the middle. On the table is the WCF People’s and Television Titles, as well as a glass of wine. A man’s feet can be seen resting on the table. Finally, it is seen that Thunder, dressed in a suit, is the man watching the tape. With remote in hand, he begins to speak.
This Sunday at WCF Slam, I have the opportunity to hold three titles at the same time, something that has never been happened in WCF. It is a tag team title match, and the man I am teaming with couldn’t be more different. Skyler Striker, the man on the TV screen, is my polar opposite. He is on a mission, a crusade. He is fighting the good fight, making his way to the top in an honorable manner. While I may want to do the same thing, I will do whatever it takes. If I have to stab someone in the back, so be it. I’ll cheat no matter what. I have no honor, that’s for sure. There is only one thing we have in common: we are champions.
As different as we are, there is no doubt we both are amazing athletes. That is why this strange alliance will work. This team brings my technical ability and Skyler’s highflying action. That is the total package. But that’s not the only reason we will win. I know that Skyler is hell bent for revenge tonight on one man, Danny Vice. Skyler doesn’t want to wait for One to get his hands on Vice, so he’ll do it this week. What did Danny do to him exactly? Let’s watch some more of Revenge and find out.
Thunder presses play and the tape plays on.
On the screen, Striker continues to celebrate. Out of nowhere, Danny Vice waffles Striker with a chair, sending him down. He then puts Striker in the Vice Lock. Finally letting go he speaks. In the middle of his speech, he pulls a contract. He writes “One” on it is Striker’s own blood, drops it on him, and then exits the ring. The video pauses again, this time on the image of a bloody Skyler Striker lying in the ring.
This is how Skyler Striker has last been seen: a bloody mess, humiliated in front of his daughter. His triumphant moment was ruined. There was no big celebration, only a steel chair shot from Danny Vice. Danny, you have no idea what’s going to happen to you at Slam. I may not know much about my partner, but if it’s one thing I know it’s this: Skyler is on his “crusade” and nothing will stop him. One is to far away, so I am certain he will do leave you a bloody mess, Danny. I’m not going after you at Slam, I’ll leave you for Striker.
That leaves me with Danny’s partner, JJ Biggs. He claims to be better than everyone else by birth, and some may argue that it’s true. After all, he is a former World and Television Champion. But what those people don’t realize is he couldn’t hold on to either of those titles. Both titles he’s won he lost within a month. Is that impressive? Someone who can lose a title in their first defense is not impressive in the least bit. You’ve been here in WCF for a long time, and yet you’ve only been a transitional champion. Me, on the other can actually hold on to a title. I’ve been Television Champion for a month and am closing in on my third as People’s Champion. That’s impressive, but holding onto the tag titles just because your partner is carrying the team isn’t.
Basically it boils down to this: myself and Skyler Striker are the two best wrestlers in WCF today. That’s why we hold all but one singles title and why we will hold the tag titles very shortly. I’m not worried about Skyler double crossing me, and I’m definitely not worried about Disorder By Design. This is the first time they have faced a real team, and they won’t be able to handle. They’ll crack under the pressure and I’ll win my third title. I’d be worried if I were Danny Vice and JJ Biggs, because their run is about to come to an end.
Thunder plays the tape once again, and the announcers can be heard talking. As the next begins, Thunder shuts off the TV, leaving only the black of the screen. With this image, the scene fades.
Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere.
