Janie was at Thunder’s mansion alone when the phone call came. Being alone in the house is something that doesn’t happen very often due to the endless stream of maids, gardeners and God who else Thunder employs to keep this house intact. But they all must eventually get a day off, and today they did. Thunder himself was also gone on this day. Janie never asked why he was leaving, in fact she never did. She knew there were specific business matters that a man of such great wealth must deal with, and thus, those were matters she did not pry into. So when he was out she made nothing. He told her he would be back soon, and that was good enough for her.
She was sitting in the living room watching TV when a cell phone on the wooden table with a glass center began to ring. It made her jump so much that she kicked a glass that was sitting on the table, spilling its contents, whatever it was, all over the red carpet. At first, as the phone rang, she was very confused. It wasn’t her phone; that was in her purse. Then she remembered that Thunder had placed his phone on the table while he was getting ready. He must have forgotten it. For a moment or two she thought of just letting it ring until someone left a message. This was because she had a certain fear that maybe if she answered, she would hear something that she was not supposed. But when she picked up the phone and the number was identified as “WCF Offices”, she decided it was okay to pick up.
Janie: Hello?
WCF Employee: Janie, is that you?
Janie: Yes.
WCF Employee: Why are you answering his phone?
Janie: He left it here when he went out, but that’s not important. Why are you calling?
WCF Employee: I was just calling to tell him his match this week on Slam. Thunder will be in a Tag Title Match.
Janie: That’s great. Sounds like the booking committee finally learned the right way to book Thunder.
WCF Employee: Well once you hear who his partner is, you won’t think it’s so great.
Janie: Well who is it?
WCF Employee: Your brother.
As soon as the words entered Janie’s ear, she jumped up from the leather couch. What she had just heard shocked her immediately, but obviously angered to such a degree that if she was meeting this employee face-to-face she would have tried to kill him. This just couldn’t happen to them; it wasn’t possible.
Janie: What?! Do you have any idea how ridiculous that is? How stupid are the people in WCF? They expect Thunder to work together with that idiot brother of mine. I demand right now that Thunder’s partner be changed for the match.
WCF Employee: I’m afraid I can’t do that. Now if excuse me, I must make many more calls. Have a good day.
Janie: Don’t hang up on me!
But it’s too late. It Janie’s great state of anger, she throws the phone down on the floor, not caring about what may happen to the phone at this point. All she can think about is how in the world Thunder can possibly win the Tag Titles now and how stupid WCF could be to book the match.
It’s not possible. It’s just not possible. With Danny in there the two of them will just try to screw each other. They can never win work as a unit. Once again, WCF has ruined an opportunity at Thunder winning a title. This time, just for controversy they have to put him with Danny, knowing full well that there is no way they can work together.
Janie’s thoughts were cut off when she heard the sound of keys at the front door. She could see Thunder through the tiny glass window. She had no idea what would await her when he heard the news. But one thing was certain. If she thought her reaction was bad, Thunder’s reaction would shock her. The door slowly opens and Thunder enters, wearing a suit. The first thing he sees, before he can even say hello, is the spilled glass and his phone, both on the floor.
Thunder: Janie, you want to explain what happened here?
Janie: That’s not important right now. WCF called. You’re teaming with Danny in a Tag Titles Match.
For a moment Thunder has no reaction, as if he cannot comprehend what he just heard.
Thunder: You’re joking, right?
Janie: No.
It a rage, Thunder kicks the table. Something, possibly a remote control flies in the air, but Thunder didn’t care enough to see what it was.
Thunder: Those idiots! They can’t do this to me!
Janie: Well what are you going to do?
Thunder: I don’t know. I need some time to think about it.
Thunder picked up the phone and walked off, headed for the patio.
A few moments later, Thunder was sitting on the patio that is located along the back of his mansion. The deck was only constructed from the finest and most expensive lumber, and the quality shows. Most normal people who dream of and eventually get a patio end up with some horrible, unstable do-it-yourself job, but this is far from that. Thunder was sitting on an elongated chair that is covered with a white cushion when the phone rang. This was the last thing he needed at this point, but he still pulled the phone out and answered.
Thunder: Yeah?
Hank: Hello, Thunder. This is Hank Brown.
As soon as Thunder heard Hank Brown’s voice, he threw the phone down onto the lawn below, not really caring if it was broken or not. Down on the lawn, the phone could still be heard…
Hank: Thunder? Are you there? I can’t hear you…
