It's almost a week until the long awaited debut of "The Iceman" Billy Blaze, but that day is coming this week. This Sunday at SLAM, The Iceman has be forced into a 6 man tag match with a couple of schmoes to compete against the three stooges. Obviously confused and offended by this deliberate slap in the face by management here in WCF. Fuming mad, the Iceman paces back and forth in his hotel room. His cell phone rings and he immediately answers the phone.
"The Iceman" Billy Blaze - Talk to me.
Iceman's Agent - Ice, hey, it's me.
"The Iceman" Billy Blaze - No shit. What did you find out?
Iceman's Agent - They are putting you in this match as a test.
"The Iceman" Billy Blaze - As a test? A test for what? If they didn't think I could perform, they sure as hell wouldn't have hired me in the first place, right?
Iceman's Agent - That's what I said, but they say its some kind of initiation deal they do with all of their new performers.
"The Iceman" Billy Blaze - You tell them, I will do it, but don't come crying to me when these jackass jobbers are in the hospital for a few months when I am through with them!
Iceman's Agent - I will be sure to relay that info. By the way, can you get over to the studio to cut a promo for Sunday night's show?
"The Iceman" Billy Blaze - Hell yeah, I can. I am so fired up about this, I am going to let loose.
Iceman's Agent - Alright then, see you soon.
The two hang up and Billy Blaze grabs his jacket and heads out the door. He steps into the elevator and pushes the button for the parking garage. The doors close and the elevator begins to go down. It stops a few floors later and a few more people get on. The door closes again and one of the people notices him.
Guy In Elevator - Hey, aren't you?...yeah, it is you! You are "The Iceman"!! Guys, this one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. "The Iceman" Billy Blaze. Man, I used to watch you back in the day when you and that Boone guy would tear the house down.
"The Iceman" - Thanks, kid.
The door opens to the parking garage and Billy Blaze pushed through the people and out to the garage. He walks over to his rented SUV and climbs in. As he backs out of his space, he thinks back to another time in his life when things were much easier as a performer. There wasn't so many political issues to deal with. As he pulls out onto the street, he snaps back to reality and heads towards the studio across town. As he pulls onto the highway, he turns the radio up and sets the cruise control, he thinks back to a conversation he had a couple of weeks back.
"The Iceman" - I know I can comeback and be as good as I want to be. I just don't think he is up to the challenge anymore.
"Friend" - Billy, you have to MAKE him be up to the challenge. He is old, yes, but he has always been, and will always be, up to the task when it comes to these things.
"The Iceman" - I know, but his past performances have been a little off, and he is reduced to tag matches. I just don't think he can carry a singles match anymore.
"Friend" - Once again, Billy, you underestimate him. He can get the job done. I know it in my heart. He and I go back a long long way. I don't think he will have any trouble tearing the house down in a one on one.
"The Iceman" - yeah, the only problem is, he has torn the house down so many times in epic matches that would kill an ordinary man, I have to wonder if his body still has what it takes to go the distance one more time.
"Friend" - Finally, a question I don't have an answer to. The only way to get that answer, Billy, is to go to the WCF and see first hand.
The Iceman snaps back to reality as his exit approaches. the scene fades as he pulls into the studio parking lot.
