Jam Session w/ Grayson Pierce
Gray stands in front of a microphone with an acoustic guitar in tow. Clifford James sits behind him on the drums, and he has a string section and a bass guitarist in the background. He stands tall as a spotlight shines on him and keeps the background slightly faded.
Gray: This song is called Never Give Up
Life has a history of kicking you in the nuts
Sometimes when the tough get going when the going gets tough
And you don’t know what to do
When the cloud it hovers over you
It feels so rough!
It’s hard to get out of the shadows that seem to be surrounding you
So far you’re in the nosebleed seats with an obstructed view
And the best thing that you see
Is a world full of inconsistencies?
It’s true!
Like everything you do is a constant struggle with the multiple meanings of you
And everything you say in a different way just seems to play to your emotions
In a world of strife you gotta live your life despite of the people who
Say you gotta fake it to make it you’ll never pull through
You’ve gotta take it and break it and prove that you’re you
You’ll always be it you see it you know that it’s true
It’s yours for the taking, just do what you do.
So now you know what to do to be a winner but yet
It’s how you need to work on now so place your bets
You have the passion and the drive, you’re the meaning of the word strive
Go GET IT!
I’m here to say that you’ve only failed if you fail to believe in yourself
Don’t fear, it’s a long journey so pull yourself off the shelf
Grab your hiking boots and coat, we are going for the gold
Have Faith!
Gray: Thank you!

Voiceover: Grayson Pierce went to visit the home of his lovely and talented father, Damien Pierce, former AWFA Heavyweight Champion, and what many consider to be the most hated, yet talented wrestler in the history of the sport.
Damien: Does it… can it see my good side?
Gray: Uhhh….
Damien: Who am I kidding, every side is my good side.
Out walks a beautiful young blonde woman in a skimpy dress.
Woman: Let me fix that tie, Damee. You don’t want to look like a mess for the masses.
Gray: I didn’t come here to get you guys on camera, I wanted advice on my next match.
Damien poses for the camera, and looks directly into it.
Damien: Well you’ve come to the right place son. Because when it comes to wrestling no one knows more than your father. Come, sit down and let’s discuss events.
Gray: You’re breaking the fourth wall. Just take a walk with me.
Woman: Oh, I can’t walk far in these shoes, they’re mainly for show, tee hee.
Damien: Gotta stay here.
Gray sighs but determines that his need for advice outweighs his need for discretion. He sits on the couch and the woman sits next to him crossing her legs and forcing the cameras to blur out her privates.
Gray: I’ve never been in a match like this before, it sounds like the Ultimate Rumble match that AWFA used to have.
Damien: IT does, and it is. The only difference is that in WAR you can be eliminated by throwing your opponent over the top rope as well. That adds a whole new element to the match that I didn’t have to worry about when I competed.
Gray: How did you win your Ultimate Rumble match?
Damien: You have to keep your head on a swivel. There are bodies every where, and each of them wants to take you out. You have to understand that even if you’re not considered a top competitor in the ring you will be treated as one and everyone will do their damnest to eliminate you. The obvious thing to say is don’t get eliminated.
Keep your back to the ropes, no one can get you from behind. Avoid the spotlight. Don’t get cocky and most of all eliminate people as fast as possible. This over the top rope will add that element. Yo’ure a high flyer, but avoid the top rope, it will be your death sentence. Avoid running off the ropes because anyone can just pull donwn that top rope and send you flying over. Stay stationary, and if need be stay low. Stay by the ropes as you can break a pinfall or submission that way, and stay below the top rope.
Gray: Thanks. But the intangibles. What do I have to do not to survive, but to win.
Damien: What you’ve been doing your whole life. Persevere. You have the ablility to win this match. I’ve seen everyone in this match compete. Steve Orbit, Corey Black, Gravedigger, Jeff Purse, these men have all been considered the best in the company one one point or another, and they will be considered the odds on favorites, but you have it in you too. Don’t let the fact that you’re green get in your way of greatness. Don’t be intimidated by the spotlight, rather embrace it and make it part of who you are and who you want to become. You are a Pierce, boy… you are a CHAMPION!
Voiceover: Clearly the words of his brilliant father has motivated him and he looks like he is ready for anything. Gray gets up and gives his father a huge embrace before he exits the room. Grayson Pierce may be able to pul this one out yet. Only time will tell.
Jam Session w/ Grayson Pierce (continued)
Gray finishes his song and walks over in front of a dozen or so men dressed as soldiers.
Gray: Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. Remembering you’re going to die, is the best way I know, to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.
Man: Sir yes sir, Private Torture SIR! I fear nothing, not even death.
Gray: Well that’s just stupid now isn’t it? Don’t act like you’re immortal, because the higher you raise yourself the harder you come down. The top is a slippery place, but it’s even more slippery when you’re not there, and only your ego is there.
I’ve been told countless times that I don’t deserve what I got, and that my ego is in fact over inflated, and to all of those people I ask them who else has achieved what I have in such a short amount of time. I got my name out there, that’s step one. Maybe I failed at my first title shot, but it will b the first of many, and I WILL succeed, and prove to the world that the WCF has a real LIVEWIRE on their hands.
Man: MAARAGH!
Gray: What’s your name, private?
Man: ULTIMATE… DESTROYER!!!!
Gray: What a joke. What have you destroyed since you came here? You didn’t even step up when you had the chance to really make a name for yourself, but your size puts you on a higher level playing field than all of us normal folks and gives you chances that normal wrestlers wouldn’t achieve so quickly. But the saying stays true, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. And Its going to be a long, hard fall for you Destroyer.
Man: Bitch, you better recognize!
Gray: Hold up, hold up… this shit ain’t working. Let me regroup here.

Voiceover: Grayson Pierce hired a driver so he could sit in the back of the car watching tapes as he went from location to location. He stares intently at the screen as he watches the likes of Johnny Fly, and Kazy Mazy make their way across the screen in an elegant dance of give and take. The car eventually pulls up to an apartment building and Grayson steps out. He is walking quickly and… hey… where is he going? Catch up to him… go… GO… GO!
Gray takes off in a run. The building isn’t on his list of every day appearances and is unknown to the camera man, but is clearly known well to Gray as he zigs and zags through the corridors and slowly gains distance from the camera crew. Eventually he enters a crowd of people and the camera man works his way through the crowd. He gets to the other side and finds only emptiness.
Voiceover: Shit!
Jam Session w/ Grayson Pierce (continued)
Grayson pierce tells the men to disperse, and all of them clammer about a paycheck.
Gray: Don’t worry, the producer has all of your information. Go ahead. Scoot, git outta here.
The hoard of people leave eventually leaving Grayson alone in the room with only his instruments. He even tells his band to exit the room and to turn off the lights on the way. The room goes dark and gray clicks a switch on his side of the room offering a faint glow as a dingy basement would have. Upon closer examination that is exactly where they are. Without the frills of the Producer you can see Gray in the light that he grew up in.
Gray: I’m sorry, this whole fake wrestler then commenting on it has been played out. It’s hard to address each and every wrestler in the company and we all are searching for ways to do it uniquely. So we hire ators, or find puppets to mimic our opponents, when while I’ve been doing this since I began, others have glommed onto the idea making it less effective. I can no longer and stand idly by as my idea, which admittedly is not my own, it has been done a million times before me, I just refined it to my own style, is being stolen and beaten down on like a red headed step child.
No, I will not buy into this. There’s an age old method of telling your opponents just exactly what your’e going to do to them, and that’s by standing here and simply laying the proverbial verbal smackdown upon their roody poo candy asses and letting them know exactly what they’re getting into.
Steve Obit, you’re a funny guy aren’t you. You and Natty Ice think that just because you hold two of the top belts in the company that you’re the hottest shit in this match. Well the titles don’t make the man, the man makes the title, and that’s something that you don’t seem to understand. You define yourself on being a champion, but I’m difffferent. That championship doesn’t define me, I’ve never had it but theres not a single person out there that would say that I’m not a champion in my own right.
I will become a champion eventually, perhaps I will win WAR and earn another shot at the World Title, wouldn’t that be a thrill. Or Perhaps I will just beat your pussy ass down at Slam 300 where I get to show you the true meaning of HARDCORE! Either way, I’m not focused on that yet. I’m preparing for war, not Slam. I hope you have your priorities straight because anything could stop you from winning this match. Hell, even KAzy Mazy could come out of nowhere and eliminate you.
Even that sparkplugh could come out of nowhere and prove that he belongs in the WCF. Isn’t that what we all want, to make a name for ourselves, and though he is a relative new comer, he speaks like a veteran. I’m impressed with his poise and stature. He holds himself to a higher standard of excellence, and is still unproven. It souds like someone that I know very well. And that man earned a World Title shot within his first 2 months in this company. But this week you take on at least 33 other men aside from the slackers that don’t want to show themselves and would rather surprise us with their entrances. It’s going to be a true war, and I just don’t know yet if you have what it takes to win. I wish you the best, but I wish I knew more about you.
Maybe we can get Bryan Worhty to do an article about you. I briefly mentioned him the other day, and I hope you dind’t think that I was going to leave our cinema champion out in the dust with a simple one liner. No, not he. Other people may deserve that, but not Bryan Worthy. He’s in the unfortunate position of having to compete in two matches this week. He is going to have to some how figure out a way to retain his Television Title and compete in the war match. Seth has a funny sense of humor, I just don’t see it happening.
John Gable too is an extremely talented superstar, and a future hall of famer in his own right. HE can step into the ring with anyone and take them to the limit. He may be the strongest competitor pound for pound in this match. He may be th best equipped for pulling double duty than any wrestler in this company. I wish both men the best of luck in your Television Title match, but issue a warning to the two of you as well.
If I know you like I think I do, you won’t take a loss for an answer. Neither of you are going to lay down and take your Television Title match lightly just because you want to win the WAR match. Both of you are going to put your heart and souls into both matches, and ultimately it’s going to wear you out thin. I am nothing if not an opportunist, and when I see that moment of weakness, even for a split second, I’m going to pounce, and don’t think for a second that 33 other men aren’t going to do the same thing. We all have one goal in wind, and that’s to become the War XIII Champion.
Gray walks around the room, contemplating his next move.
Gray: Fuck this, this ain’t working either… I’ll be right back.
LIVEWIREWRESTLING.COM
Voiceover: Nothing to worry about folks. Our friendly neighborhood Livewire is simply taking a stroll to clear his head. WE have our people searching feverishly to find him and have the hottest technology to find him. IN fact we are tracking his cell phone signal and… THERE.
The camera runs across the street and gets into the car.
Voiceover: We should have known this, he is heading towards the mall in town. He is such a primadona. He’s probably heading there to get new clothes for his big match this week. He would never want to be seen in last years fashion now would he? So here we go folks, stalking the man who wishes not to be stalked, but is too dumb to realize that he can’t get away. He doesn’t realize that we can track his every move and that it is only a matter of time until he gets his comeuppance.
Jam Session with Grayson Pierce (continued)
Gray: This lsiting opponents and telling them off thing isn’t working either. How can I address everyone effectively and efficiently? Ther’s just no way to do it without sounding contrived and condescending. But everyone in this match is deserving of equal notice. Even Hyena deserves some time. Despite the fact that I have literally wiped the floor with him every time we’ve stepped into the ring that mother fucker keeps getting up and asking for more. I’ve got so much respect for that guy, but we all know that he doesn’t stand a chance of winning this match. There’s way too much to think about, and he is going to be so distraught about losing his beer recipe that he won’t be able to maintain the focus needed to compete. I can’t waste too much time on him.
Then there’s Gravedigger, the hall of fame legend back for one match to become the first ever 2 time War Champion. He already has the most eliminations in any War Match ever, and now wants more accolades. His age doesn’t throw me off, being 39 is the new 30. He’s stayed in shape and now looks lie he is ready for anything. I can stand here and praise the man all day, but I need to take him down. I need him to see that this isn’t a young man’s game, but the fact that he’s been out of action for a while is certainly going to play against him,
It may not necessarily be a young man’s game but the time of ground and pound wreslting is passe. The times of just searching and hunting down your prey is no more. We are all hunters, there is no prey. We are hunters chasing hunters, we are the most dangerous sport alive, and if you don’t respect us all in that way, you are putting yourself at a severe disadvantage.
He’s a big gun, I need to make sure that he gets proper attention in my training. Even if he’s a bit over rated.
There’s Biohazard, and Shawn Scholes, and Night Rider… Jeff Purse, Johnny Fly, the list goes on and on. Some of these men are more prominent than others. Somet of these men, like Fly and Purse deserve more respect that the former two mentioned names, but how do I go about telling them that just because I respect them doen’st mean that ‘m going to lay down for them. How do I find a unique way to say that you are legends in this industry, and by putting you together isn’t an insult, rather praise from me. I consider them two of the best, and probably the two most likely to win this match, besides me.
I know that these two men are the benchmark of the WCF. Even moreso that Ice Beckman and Steve Orbit because they are relatively green compared to Purse and Fly. Not that they’re new per se, but that Fly and Purse have mainained a level of excellence, as has Corey Black, for so many years that they are truly the bench mark on what and how to achive greatness here in the WCF. The are the ones I want to emulate, specifiacally Purse becaue he is a War Winner, and desires like Gravedigger to become a 2 time winner.
That would be an amazing feat indeed, but can he pull it off. I think he can but the more important question is WILL HE? I don’t think so. We are all hungry and we are more hungry than he is. As a group we are the hungriest set of superstars in the world. Nothing can satitate our hunger… I need a sandwich, I’ll be right back.
LIVEWIREWRESTLING.COM
Voiceover: SO he’s gone past the mall, apparently he knows we’re on his tail and he is on the run. But don’t you fear, folks, we are now on the I-95 heading towards upstate New York where our resources say is where he trained for wrestling the very first time. We all know how he likes going back to his roots, so it appears that we are going to see how this all started. So be sure to tune in to Livewire: The Origin Story, coming up soon on LIVEWIREWRESLING.COM
Meanwhile…
Gray and Eve lay in a bed at Eve’s home in Lake Grove, Long Island. Both of them are out of brath, and smiling at each other in a way that only they could. They share a kiss.
Eve: I don’t believe that they’ve been gone for so long.
Gray: I threw my phone into a garbage truck.
LIVEWIREWRESTLING.COM
Voiceover: And he we are folks, The single has stopped and… garbage. We’re at a landfill… CUT! Put on some wres…
Gray: You’re fired by the way.</font>
Eve: WHAT!?
Gray: You can't work for me any more.
Gray then drops to one knee and pulls out the ring.
Gray: From the moment we met in 1999 I knew I loved you. Times never lined up, but the stars have aligned now. This may be our first kiss, but we have loved each other for far longer. I don’t want to waste time on this. I know what I want, and I think you want the same thing. So Eve Overton, will you…
Eve: YES!
Gray gets up and the two share a long embrace that is 15 years in the making.
Jam Session with Grayon Pierce (Continued)
Gray: That sandwich hit the spot. And it cleared my mind as well. There is no right or wrong way to do this. I could continue my army bit bt all my extras have already left. I could continue my line by line rant of how much better I am than each individual competitor that’s in this match, but that moment has passed as well, as fleeting as it is.
I will do this, a blanket statement to everyone is the WCF. It’s 3:30 in the fucking morning. I woke up from a deep sleep because I couldn’t get this match out of my mind. I want to win this match, and I want to prove to everyone that I’m not a one trick pony. I’m here, and I am going to stay. I’ve dropped everything else to make this a reality. I was ready to be complacent with a half-assed attempt at victory, but I felt that the fans and the roster deserved more, but most importantly, as self indulgent as this sounds, I deserved better. I've put so much of myself into this fed since I started and for me not to put everything I have into this WAR match would be an insult to my ability.
This was the hardest thing that I’ve ever had to do. To stand here and tlak about each and everyone of the wCF superstars is a breathtaking and overwhelming task. But I think that when it’s all said and done that I fucking nailed it. I think that because I did the best that I could, and that’s all that anyone can ask of anyone.
I’ve stepped here in front of you the fans, and you the roster, and laid it all out on the line. Just know that I’m an open book. You all know what you need to know about me. You know my strentghts and you know my weaknesses. My strengths are that I am fast, and strong, and have the endurance to enter fist and make it all the way to the end. My weaknesses are that I’m young, brash, arrogant, and have a tendency to take things lightly.
But I understand the severity of this match, and not one single superstar is going to be taken lightly. I want you all to know what makes me tick, because I want you all to have all the ammunition you need to take me down. I think I’m going to win this match, I really do. As much of a long shot as it may seem, I’m not going to stand here and say that everyone has a chance to win, because that’s just bullshit.
There’s about 10 of us who truly have a chance to win this match, we know who we are, and that’s no disrespect for the 25 or so others that don’t. We are stepping into the ring with a new breed of competitor that is more driven, and more creative, and more powerful than any other generation before us. We are the future of sports entertainment.
I truly wish you all the best of luck, and hope your egos don’t get too deflated after putting so much effort into this match and failing.
Livewire out!
