In the time following Thunder hearing about his match on Slam, he began to calm down some. He still hated the idea of working together with Danny Vice, that was obvious, but it didn’t anger him as much. He was now determined to somehow with the Tag Titles with or without Danny’s help. It sure seemed impossible, but Thunder was definitely going to do whatever it took.
Now they are in Thunder’s limo, being driven to the arena that will hold this week’s edition of WCF Slam. Normally they would be watching something on the large flat-screen TV or drinking some of the wine that is prevalent in the limo, but this time they both appear to be in deep thought. The only sound that can be heard for a good while is the sound of the car, moving along towards their destination. At one point, Thunder becomes vaguely aware that the driver has turned on the radio. Normally this would anger Thunder if he was watching TV, but the driver heard no noise and thus found no problem in playing. Thunder seemed not to care much; he simply had too much on his mind. Not too long after, Janie finally spoke up.
Janie: You won’t be able to do it.
Thunder: What?
Janie: You’re not going to be able to win the Tag Titles. Danny is going to screw you over. I just know it.
Thunder: Don’t talk like that. Remember what I said before? It doesn’t matter what Danny does to me, I’ll win those Tag Titles. And if I have to, I’ll defend them myself. Danny can do whatever the hell he wants, but it won’t stop me. Team Xtreme won’t be the tag champions when the sure is over, even if Danny decides to take me out.
Janie: Okay. I trust you.
They sat in silence for a little while longer before the limo came to a stop and the driver turned back to them.
Driver: We’re here.
Quickly, the driver pulled Thunder’s ring gear out of trunk while Thunder and Janie waited outside the car for him. Once he was given the bag, Thunder gave the driver a tip before they began to walk to the arena.
It was a warmer day than usual, which would have a change Thunder and Janie would have enjoyed if they had been paying enough attention to notice. But the bright sun, the wind that was blowing their hair in the wind, seemed to be miniscule and worthless parts of the day that didn’t deserved attention. The match is what deserved the attention, not the local forecast.
They finally reached the large steel door where the wrestlers entered. After showing the guard there the passes that admit them in, they were in the arena. They faced a hallway that seemed to stretch on forever, or at least as far as they could see. As they walked down the hall, they passed some unimportant lowly personnel, who barely got more than a passing glance from the two. But when they reached the WCF Interview Center, it was obvious that Hank Brown would not let them go without an interview.
Hank: Please. Just a quick interview. That’s all I ask for.
Thunder: You never quit, do you know?
Hank: Well I’m not sure what you mean, but can I just have a brief moment of your time for an interview.
Thunder: Well, considering you won’t leave me alone until I do, I guess I will. Janie you stay here. This won’t take long.
They walked over to the interview area, which has simply a black background with a flat screen TV that says “WCF Slam” above their heads.
Hank: I’m here with WCF Hardcore Champion, Thunder. Tonight you team with Danny Vice in an attempt to win the Tag Titles from Team Xtreme. What are your thoughts on the match?
Thunder: First off, being forced to team with Danny has to be one of WCF’s stupidest decisions in recent memory, and God knows there’s been plenty of them. Why is it that every time I get a Tag Title shot, it has to be with someone who can’t carry their own weight? First, it was Striker, who never contributed anything to the team, and now I have to try to work together with Danny. It’s a shame we have to work together tonight, because it’s all do easy to beat Team Xtreme. That team is just two garbage wrestlers who took advantage of WCF’s lack of any tag teams. They have no wrestling talent at all besides beating people over the head with garbage cans and kendo sticks. Now I may be Hardcore Champion, but I can wrestle too. These guys couldn’t outwrestle a 90 year old woman, let alone someone like me. So I know in this match Danny will do everything in his power to make sure we don’t win, but I don’t care. I’ll be Tag Team Champion at the end of tonight without him. I’ll take on the whole damn tag team roster by myself, because I’m sure as hell not getting help from Danny. And that’s fine with me. That little emo kid can continue to cut his wrists and cry about not winning the Hardcore Title while I continue on the road to success. I don’t need him and I’ll show that tonight. And who knows, maybe after I win, I’ll take him out too. But I will win the titles tonight. You can bank on that. And this interview is over.
Thunder walked back to Janie, where they continued on their path to Thunder’s locker room…
