Internet Wrestling Federation Closes - Corey Black comments

For nearly three years, WCF Hall of Fame wrestler Corey Black has been on a 'part-time' schedule with WCF, mainly due to his commitments to the Internet Wrestling Federation, a wrestling company based in New York City. Earlier this week, IWF shut its doors, seemingly for good. We reached Black through e-mail, this is what he had to say.

"It's weird, really. I know the vast majority of WCF wrestlers, the boys in the back, they don't care for IWF because it was ruthless over there. You had to have a certain gusto, couldn't be a little bitch or you were sent right out the doors. Countless from WCF tried, only Rick Mad and I stood in the end. The second coming of the Man Made Gods. I won titles there, the TKO, Warzone, Tag - I beat World Champions, men that would absolutely steamroll most on the WCF roster, and now suddenly it's gone. I spent nearly three years of my career there, honing my craft to become even better than I was. And for what? For most of the WCF boys to shit all over it because they couldn't hang. That's what made IWF great, it wasn't the same bullshit I've put up with for over a decade. No new guy walked in there and said 'hurpa doo, you veterans suck new breed time!' No, it was about respect. I let my evil side out, rather my evil side took over, and I STILL respected everyone on that roster. IWF was something special that you just had to be there to appreciate, because if you were on the outside looking in, you weren't anything but a jealous phony.

As for what this means for my WCF career, my schedule just opened up. I'm always around to back my Pantheon bros when a nigga needs to get got. Now, I suppose, it's just going to happen more frequently."

The following comment was left at the bottom of the page by the a user named Allah's Chosen:

"And then the city banished the infidels, sending them to live in cities other than their own. Amongst them were several of Allah's chosen, all of whom knew that these infidels needed them where ever they ended up next. Thus they left as well, God's people among heathens and infidels, hoping to lead these people to the one city where salvation awaited them."

A second message followed immediately after the first.

"I'm right behind you, Corey. The IWF may be no more, but I still have every intention of educating both you and the rest of this country on their mistakes. You escaped me once, but it won't happen again."

Comments continued to come following Black's statement on the WCF website, including one by the user Missing Right Hand, which read as follows.

"And yet the IWF has closed it doors while the WCF is still kicking week-in, week-out. I guess in some cases, bullshit is more compact than respect."

And as the hours passed a user named Governor B. Bobby Bigglebottom posted the following comment:

To an already overcrowded roster? I ... I don't think so. One has taken the plunge by his own hand, I'm not going to suggest it to anyone.

Roy Speede commented the following:

Much respect to the IWF wrestlers who lost their wrestling home this week. Can't say I was exactly intrigued by the company, but I've heard a lotta good stuff about that place from multiple people, was made aware of just the level of talent they got, and it's a shame to see another company fall. Not the first in the last few months, and it probably won't be the last, but I know the WCF always has a roster spot for competitors with the skills and potential for greatness, both of which were abundant in the IWF.

These comments were made in reference to the closing of another wrestling company Speede competed for in recent years, by the name of Action Packed Wrestling. Some have to wonder if WCF is next, while others have claimed the talent and booking in WCF is a reason why these 'great' companies are closing.
