Reformed Mobster and current Professional Wrestler Tommy Francis Greco aka Tommy Gorgeous was released from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in downtown Brooklyn at 8 this morning. Mr. Greco was being held in violation of his parole, for not obtaining permission from his parole officer to leave the state. However, an NYPD spokesman later said that it was a miscommunication and Mr. Greco did in fact obtain authorization but due to a glitch in the new computer system being implemented a warrant was issued for Mr. Greco's arrest. Russel Kronsky, Mr. Greco's attorney issued this statement on behalf of his client.
"Mr. Greco is pleased with Police Department's admission of wrongdoing and wants to emphatically state as he had all along that he was in constant communication with his Parole officer. He is happy that the situation was cleared up relatively soon and he will be able to compete at the SLAM show scheduled for March 16th. As Mr. Greco looks to continue to follow a new path in life he would like the government to just give him a chance. The government should embrace Mr. Greco's philosophy that you can move on with your life instead continuing a senseless witch hunt that's really just a personal vendetta between the United States Attorneys office and my client because of his refusal to cooperate. My client has instructed me to simply state 'I'm done with it' on his behalf. Mr. Greco would like to thank his family, friends, fans and the management team at the WCF for their continued support."
Tommy Greco was a reputed member of the Dasso Crime Family, his father was legendary gangster Francis "Sonny" Greco who was an alleged underboss for the family back in the 80's. He was convicted on a Racketeering charge back in 2009 and served a two year prison sentence from 2011-2013. After his release Mr. Greco has reinvented himself as a professional wrestler even winning his debut match just last week. However, according to unnamed FBI sources "the wrestling business is just an act and so is Greco's aspirations of becoming a professional wrestler, we believe he should resume his role in the family once he comes off parole." Only time will tell.
