Act 1: Aftermath
We're born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we're not alone.

The scene opens on the beautiful city of New Orleans. The lights of the city sparkled against the night sky, and the stars tried to be just a little bit brighter but failed. The buildings cast their reflections to the water below, as the paddle boats made their way up and down the river, as cargo ships headed for the warehouses that lined the docks. People moved along the streets of the city, listening to the music that flowed from the street bands that played late into the night. Clubs and bars were full of people taking in the night life, while theaters showed the latest movies that had been released just a few days before. We soon see two familiar figures moving along the crowded streets. Denise hung onto Night Rider's arm, smiling all the while with her new diamond engagement ring sparkling in the bright lights around them. Her deep blue eyes shimmered in the lights, and for the first time in a long time she was filled with joy. They had won their match against Johnny Fly and Steve Orbit and both of them knew that they had caused an upset for the ones that had bet against them, but they didn't care. They had pulled out a win that no one expected.
Denise: What a perfect night.
Night Rider: You can say that again. I knew we could beat them.
Denise: Did you see their faces?
Night Rider: Yeah. It looked like someone shot them.
Denise: I love it. We're on our way to the top and there is nothing that anyone can do to stop us. Two weeks in a row we have pulled out the win, and just gained another step closer to the Tag Titles.
Night Rider: That's right. We took down some big names lately, and now it's just a matter of time before we get our hands on what is ours.
Denise smiles and kisses him as they continue to walk along.
Denise: I love you.
Night Rider: I love you too. Do you know who you're facing this week?
Denise: Not yet. We left before they could say anything.
Night Rider: It doesn't matter, because I know that you'll beat them, or we'll beat them.
Denise nods, as her cellphone rings. She answers it as they stop in front of a cafe. Night Rider heads inside as Denise leans against the outside of the building.
Denise: Hello? This is her. Thank you. A match? Who's it against this week? Brent Alpine huh? For the Television Title? Really? I see. Of course I'll be there... No thank you.
With that Denise hangs up, and heads inside into the warm building, and sits down, as Night Rider places their order. She stares out the window watching people walk by.
Denise: *Voice Over* I have a shot at a title once again. I have to say that I'm not really surprised. I have been doing well lately, and now all that stands between me and becoming the new Television Champion is Brent Alpine. Alpine haven't we done this dance before? I know that I didn't beat you the last time that we met, but this time it will be different. I don't plan on walking away from this match without that title in my hands.
Denise looks over at Night Rider and smiles softly. The last few days had been perfect and the time they had spent together was even better. They had gotten well wishes from most of the people on the roster, and she couldn't be happier. They still had to pick a date, and that would come in time.
Denise: *Voice Over* Night Rider is one of the best things that have walked into my life as of late. I know that I couldn't have gotten as far as I have without him. He is the reason I keep going, and do whatever I have to do in the middle of that ring. This week won't be any different Brent. I've won the last two weeks in a row and this week will be number three, and a piece of gold will be in my hands. Tell me what are you planning to do to someone that cannot die? I will walk away from this match in a bit of pain, but not as much as you. I don't plan on holding back in this match, nor will I stop when the bell sounds. The Shadows of Darkness demand pain and suffering to those that stand in our way of getting what we want. Biowalker, and Johnny and Steve stood in our way and look at what happened to them. They were defeated and broken in the middle of the ring without to much trouble. Unlike Orbit and Fly you are nothing to us. Sure you have a title, but you're not exactly what I call main event.
She smirks as she looks out the window, people watching once again. Most of them were everyday run of the mill humans, but a few creatures still lurked in the night unseen, going unnoticed by those around them, and Denise knew that was the easiest way to kill, to feed, and to break them without anyone ever knowing the difference.
Denise: *Voice Over* Brent tell me how long do you think you're going to last against someone like me? I mean I've been in this business a while now, and moved from different companies but they are always the same, no matter where I go or where I went. There will always be someone that is better then you, and I am that someone this time around. Brent I'll be ready for anything that you can throw at me, and I'll give you a fair warning right now, I will no stop until I get what I want. I hope you're ready for me.
She smiles as Night Rider comes over to the table with a latte for her, and a coffee for himself. She takes ti from him, and takes a sip feeling the warmth going through her body.
Night Rider: So who was on the phone?
Denise: Someone from the head office at WCF... I have a match this week.
Night Rider: Who's it against?
Denise: The Television Champion Brent Alpine.
Night Rider: That's great! If we win the tag titles on top of that, you're going to be one step closer to the grand-slam champion. I think all your missing is the World title after that.
Denise nods and takes another sip from the cup in her hands.
Denise: I think you're right. Can you imagine what that would mean for the Shadows if that happens?
Night Rider: That's for sure, plus everyone would know the kind of power that we hold.
Denise: Indeed they would. But I have to keep my mind on this or I won't be winning anything.
Night Rider: Don't worry I'll help you train. We're going to make sure that you don't lose this match.
Denise: I know. What do you say after this we go back to the hotel and start?
Night Rider: Sounds good. I could do with a bit myself.
Denise: Nonsense... You are perfect.
Night Rider: I'm far from perfect. But you are perfection in my eyes. You're beautiful, brilliant, and will always be at my side... And you made me the happiest man on earth when you said yes.
Denise blushes softly as he takes a sip from the cup in his hands.
Denise: I hope that you realize that I'll out live you.
Night Rider: I'm not worried about that right now. We'll worry about that when we get to it.
Denise smiles and downs the rest of the latte that was in her hands. The two of them finish up, and they head back out into the night once again.
Denise: *Voice Over* When we step into the middle of the ring on Sunday night it will be just you and me. No help from either side. Two warriors will enter the ring, but only one of us will be walking out under our own power. I don't plan on losing this match, and I will fight with everything that I have. Do you think you can beat me? How long do you think you can last against someone like me? Or even walk away with the title? If I don't get it, then someone else will, and I know they'll do the same thing that I will. Just remember you are not facing a normal human, I am something more and when you are old and gray and on your deathbed I will still be young and in the condition that I have always been in. Sunday night will be your downfall and the last time that you will ever have your hands on that piece of gold that you have.
The two of them walk down the street in silence letting the music around them fill the air, as the stars above them sparkle their brightest against the lights of the city.
Denise: *Voice Over* Brent if I were you I would start saying my goodbyes to anyone that you hold dear and close to your heart. By the time I finished with you, no one will even recognize you. I'm not going to hold back in this match, and I promise you by the time this match is over with you will be battered, broken, bruised, and bloodied. The Death Bringer comes and she comes for thee! See you soon Brent. Oh and good luck this week... You're going to need it.
Denise smiles to herself, as they reach the large hotel that they were staying at and head toward the lobby doors. The two of them stop and kiss losing themselves in the raw passion, and love. The kiss soon breaks and they head inside, as the scene fades to black.
Denise: What a perfect night.
Night Rider: You can say that again. I knew we could beat them.
Denise: Did you see their faces?
Night Rider: Yeah. It looked like someone shot them.
