The scene opens on the arena in Memphis after the show had ended. The night was a little chilly but still had a warm feel to it. The snow had melted slightly and ground could be seen once again. The parking lot had started to empty out, except for the brave few that waited to see their favorite superstar as they left for the evening. The stage hands and crew had started to disassemble everything for the move to the next city, and the next show. The back door next to the giant bay doors opens and out steps Denise. She heads to the horse trailer that sat by the big trucks and opens the door and places a lead around the horse's face, and leads him out into the night. The deep red blanket that was on his back kept him warm and he still shivered slightly. Denise smiles kissing him on the nose, and feeds him a sugar cube. She runs her hand along his neck, and smiles tugging gently on the lead and walks over to a small patch of grass that had been exposed through the snow. The horse starts to graze as Denise leans against the tree behind her. The match had gone as planned and it felt good to get back into the swing of things, only to bring Biowalker to their knees.
Voice: You look beautiful.
Denise turns around and smiles softly seeing Night Rider standing there with a dozen white roses in hand.
Denise: What are these for?
Night Rider: Nothing. Just for being you, and for what you did tonight.
Denise: I did what had to be done. But they are beautiful. Thank you.
Night Rider: They're not as beautiful as you.
Denise kisses him, and pulls on the lead. Daredevil's head moves up and Denise leads him back toward the trailer, with Night Rider walking with her.
Denise: You are so sweet.
Night Rider: I try to be. I was going to take you out tonight, but it looks like your busy.
Denise: I'll be about an hour or so, but after that we can go out if you want.
Night Rider: I would like that.
Denise: I would too.
Night Rider: I'll meet you back at the Peabody in a bit then.
Denise: I'll be there soon.
Denise kisses him deeply and he walks off leaving Denise alone once again. She reaches the trailer and hooks the lead around a small hook and starts to brush Daredevil out. She smiles to herself as she finishes brushing him out, and then tosses a heavy deep blue blanket over his back and then the heavy black leather saddle on top of it. Denise unhooks the lead and slips the bit and bridle over it's head. She hops up in the saddle and taps his sides slightly and he starts a light jog around the parking lot. The night air was chilly and her warm breath could be seen floating in front of her, and rose into the night.
Denise: Tonight went perfect and next week will be more of the same. You see Biowalker you bet on a sure thing and lost. Night Rider and I work together too well, and we managed to get the upper hand only to walk away with another win under us. We are surely on the way to the top once again and getting our hands on the Tag Titles. You stood in our way but you are no longer a threat. You failed, and we prevailed once again.
She continues to ride the mighty steed around the empty parking lot, letting him stretch his legs before he was sealed in the trailer for the long trip to New Orleans. She puts him into a full canter putting him through the paces before the night started to turn to cold. A stage hand comes out the back door and sees Denise riding toward him. He watches her as she rides with beauty and grace. Her balance never faltering, and her body moved in time with each step that the horse made. She soon stops in front of him, and hops down, handing the reigns to the stage hand that waited.
Denise: Make sure he's brushed out, and given oats before you put him into his trailer. I don't him starved when he arrives.
Stage Hand: Yes Miss D'evil.
Denise pets the horse on the nose, before she walks away, and seems to disappear into the night. The shadows close around her and she fades from the eye, as the scene fades to black.

Act 2: The French Quarter
New Orleans
1861
New Orleans
1861
The scene opens on the beautiful city of New Orleans. Tall ships filled the harbor, and the streets were filled with people, carts, and carriages. Women were dressed in full Southern belle dresses while gentlemen were dressed in suits and walked with dignity and pride. The buildings were decorated with banners and bunting in celebration for those that were heading out to war. Young men had signed up to protect their homes and families even if it meant their death. We soon see a young Denise as she walked along the sidewalk dressed in a deep purple and white dress, with a wide brimmed hat on her head. Her deep blue eyes sparkled under the brim and her long black hair framed her pale face, and fell down her back over the low cut dress. The streets were wet from the rain that had fallen earlier and small puddles were scattered on the ground. Denise held a parasol over her head, as she passed along under the balconies of the buildings, still seeing the water drip from the cast iron above her. She stops when she reaches a square in the city. A group of men had gathered dressed in grey uniforms. the crowds around them cheered, but Denise did not. She knew most of the young men and boys that would leave that day wouldn't be coming home the same or not at all. She pushes through the crowd making her way to the group of young men and grabs one with dark hair and the same blue eyes as her. He looks at her and smiles softly, and moves away from the group with Denise in tow.
Denise: I thought you said you weren't going to join up Vincent?
Vincent: I changed my mind. Besides the guys are going and I'm not going to let them go without me watching their backs.
Denise: You know you don't need to do this!
Vincent: Yes I do! It could be just a few weeks before the Union gets here and takes over the city! What then? Who knows what they would do to you!
Denise sighs, and puts her hand on his face.
Denise: Don't throw your life away!
Vincent: I'm not! Why can't you be proud of me?
Denise: Is that you what you think this is all about? I don't want to lose you!
Vincent: You won't. I'll come back.
Denise turns from him hiding the tears that were starting to stream down her face.
Denise: There is a very slim chance you'll come back! Have you thought about Alyssa? You're going to leave her alone?
Vincent: She's all right with it. She said she would wait for me! Why can't you let me go?
Denise: Because you are my son!
Vincent: You're not my mother!
Denise: I know that! You're real mother left you and your father when she couldn't handle the stress!
Vincent: You'll never be her!
Denise: I don't care if I am or not! But I lost your father and I'm not going to lose you too!
Vincent takes Denise in his arms, and hugs her tightly.
Vincent: I will come back to you. No matter what I have to do. I'll write you as soon as I can.
Denise kisses him on the cheek and watches him walk away with the group of young men. The rain begins to fall once again as the band begins to play.
The sound of a cell phone ringing soon breaks the silence in the massive St Louis graveyard in New Orleans. Denise snaps from her thoughts and answers her phone.
Denise: Hello?
Night Rider: Where are you?
Denise: I'm at St. Louis cemetery.
Night Rider: That place is massive! Where in the cemetery are you?
Denise: Wait me for me by the gate of one and I'll be there in a few minutes.
Night Rider: Are you all right? I mean I woke up this morning and you were gone.
Denise: I'm fine... Just visiting an old friend.
Night Rider: All right. I'll see you soon love.
Denise: I thought you said you weren't going to join up Vincent?
Vincent: I changed my mind. Besides the guys are going and I'm not going to let them go without me watching their backs.

Denise: I'm fine... Just visiting an old friend.
Night Rider: All right. I'll see you soon love.
Denise smiles to herself as she hangs up the phone, and looks at the vault that is in front of her. The name on the vault read
"Vincent Alexander La Croix.
Born 1842- Died 1861.
Loving Son and husband.
May the Angels sing thee to thy rest."
Born 1842- Died 1861.
Loving Son and husband.
May the Angels sing thee to thy rest."
Denise sighs, as she lays a single deep red rose on the vault's little doorway, and walks away. The air was a bit cool around her, and she adjusted the long jacket's collar around her head, and continues to walk along alone. The vaults lined both sides of the stone pathway, and were silent. The city was different but one thing would always remain the same. The war between good and evil would always be there, and this week she and Night Rider had a battle put in front of them.
Denise: War... War never changes no matter where it is fought. Whether it be in the middle of a ring, or in the vast fields of some God forsaken land, it will never change. This week Night Rider and I will face off against two of the best in the WCF and people have already started betting against us. They say we're good but Orbit and Fly are better... I intend to prove them all wrong. Biowalker learned a lesson the hard way, and I know that this week won't be any different. Johnny Fly the world Champion has come down off of his pedestal to come and slum among the commoners. Should we feel honored that you have to face us or should I even really care? You have done something that Night Rider and I have yet to achieve but one day one of us will have that piece of gold on our arms, and you will have nothing left. But tell me why did they put you into this match? Do they want to prove a point? Or do they think that you can stop the Shadows of Darkness?
Denise weaves through the many vaults that lined the pathway, taking in the quiet and beauty that was around her. The white marble of the vaults shimmered in the late afternoon sun catching Denise's shadow as she moved by them.
Denise: Tell me Johnny how many times have you risked your own life to help your "family members" get out of a situation? Of course do you even really consider yourself a "boss"? the FBI think you are if they are looking into your actions once again. The FBI have been around long enough to bring the people that want to make a difference down, while the real crooks run Washington. I've been around long enough to know that the founding fathers would weep at what we have become. But that's not what this is about is it? Our match this week will be one that no one will ever forget. The great Johnny Fly has come down to fight in the mud with the commoners, in hopes that he and Orbit will win the day, and leave the Shadows of Darkness in the middle of the ring down and out, but they are wrong. You see Night Rider and I have been on a roll lately with taking other tag teams out and letting us climb our way to the top once again. Of course the FBI might do our job for us this week, if we don't get to you first.
Denise smiles to herself, as she passes through a crowd of people, with some of them staring at her, while others took pictures. Her dark hair bounced as she walked along, and her bright blue eyes shimmered in the afternoon sun.
Denise: I've only been in a few other companies and never held anything more than the tag titles in one while I held the World Title in another. But you have me beat as far as titles go, but what do they even mean? I mean once you leave a company the fans slowly forget you, and look to others that have risen to the top and become the newest champion. Tell me Johnny how many people have forgotten about you over the years or recently for that matter? It must drive you crazy knowing that people will one day forget you, and then you will fade away into nothingness, while I remain beautiful and full of life for many generations to come. Sunday night will be a night that you will fall to the mat in humiliation, while Night Rider and I walk away with another win. There's an old Sicilian proverb that seems to suit this situation perfectly... "Cu è surdu, orbu e taci, campa cent'anni 'mpaci"? It simply means "He who is deaf, blind, and silent will live a hundred years in peace." After all you are a "family" man after all.
She continues to move along the pathway with her high heeled boots clicking on the stone walkway under her feet.
Denise: As for you Orbit I have had the same thing happen to me many times over. Someone I cared about has ended up dead or someone has betrayed me because of money or something less. I would be lying if I said I knew what you went through, but then again... I have had so much heart ache and betrayal in the years, the centuries that I have been on this earth, but I have learned there is so much more. I have taken revenge, and destroyed lives, and never regretted doing it. Tell me Steve do you regret what you have done? I doubt you have, and you put on a happy face for all the world to see even through the heart ache that you have been through. You've held title after title, but lately you have had nothing in your grasp. Do you think Johnny will hold your hand through the rough times that you don't have a title or say it's ok, and that you just need to try a bit harder? I don't think so. Night Rider and I are on the same page through this whole thing, but you two seem to have been thrown together into this match, and I know that's always difficult not knowing what the other is thinking, or what they want.
Denise moves along the pathway and soon sees the large steel gate. It was wide open, and another tour group was starting their walk through.
Denise: Steve I don't know what else I can say to you besides that Sunday night you will be put up a force against the likes that you have never seen before. I know that you and the rest of the locker room think that the Shadows of Darkness are still a joke... But that is where you are wrong. We have just started to fight. We have come to bring the WCF to their knees and stop the injustice that has corrupted it. You and Johnny boy are just the beginning of the evil and corruption that stands before us and you will fall no matter what we have to do. Tell me how far will you go to stop us? How long do you really think you can stand against us before you realize that we are truly better then you are? How far will you sink to our level to beat us? You see Night Rider and I will do everything and anything that we can to stop you, and not think twice about it. We were made to do this, and we will not disappoint the other Shadows that are watching us. By the end of this you and Johnny will be on the mat broken, beaten, bruised and bloodied, begging for us to end it, but your cries will fall on deaf ears. Your time is ending and ours is truly beginning, and we are on our way to the top once again. If you think you have what it takes to stop us, then bring everything that you have into that ring and try to stop us. We shall not fall, nor shall we fail. We are the Shadows of Darkness and we are all around you. The Deathbringer comes and she comes for thee! See you soon gentlemen... Oh and good luck this week... You're going to need it.
Denise smiles as she reaches the gate, to where Night Rider was waiting for her. She kisses him on the cheek and they start walking down the street back toward the excitement of the city, as the scene fades to black.
