He could sense them still around him. He played along, Already knowing that he would choose to stand beside the woman that he loved. Yes, It was time he admitted it to himself. He was in love with her. The time that they had spent apart, Even though she was in no danger, Had proven it to him. She meant the world to him and he would stand by her side through thick and thin. If anyone ever dared to hurt her he would not hesitate to take them out. The Shadows had an agenda that needed to be adhered to and nothing will stop them from achieving what they set out to do. Their quest was all that mattered. He must not let his emotions or feelings get in the way of that.

His thoughts turned to their next match. BioWalker rides again. Or was it TylerHazard? Who cares. $h!t, He thought he took care of them the last time they were in the ring. That was when Denise had been 'kidnapped'. He held his own in that match and was able to walk away with the victory. It wasn't easy but then no match was. It would be so much better with her back in the ring with him. They worked so well together. It was to the point where each one knew what the other was going to do before they did it. And BioWalker actually think they stand a chance. He knew it wouldn't bother them for long though, They were used to losing.

He heard them as they walked back over and stood around him.

Night Rider

Your so sure of yourselves. Your right, Things were not handled as they should have been. One person was allowed to run rampant and do whatever she wanted to do while disrespecting the rest of the fed. Hell I would have done the same thing. I would have had people scrubbing the toilets with a damn toothbrush. F#c% some of these bitc#e$ around here. Ones that can't carry the load in the ring need some way to earn their keep.

Still, It would not have been for your own personal gains or vendetta. She abused her power and now she must pay for it. You will understand in time. 

Night Rider

Look, Why don't we cut through all of the bullshit and just get down to it. You want me to join you? Like I could refuse. You should have known I would go along with Denise once you had her convinced. She's not stupid and she doesn't go on wild witch hunts. I believe in her so I will join her and do what must be done. Now if you could get these chains off of me I would appreciate it. I would like to see Denise so we can discuss our match.

The 1st Shadow walked over and took a key off of the pole he was attached to. He unlocked a padlock and removed the chains. Suddenly there was a bright light in the center of the room that seemed to glow and pulsate towards them. Night Rider threw his hands up as it engulfed him. The next thing he knew he was waking up and the shadows were gone. He picked himself up off the cold floor. He had no ideal what time it was or even where he was at. 

He walked over to the door that now stood wide open. After walking through it he noticed the tire tracks and judging from the sand it threw around he knew they left in a hurry. What in the hell had happened to him and what scared them off? He didn't feel any different and he wasn't injured in any way. His wrists were sore from the chains but that was to be expected. Other than that he felt fine. As a matter of fact, He felt better than fine. He looked around the area and of course, There was nothing in sight. He tried to get his bearings judging the light in the distances to see where a town would be. 

He was just about to start walking down the highway when a Yellow cab pulled up beside him and the driver yelled out the window.

Taxi Driver

Hey bud, Need a lift? I'm heading your way.

Now wait a minute. Where did he come from and how does he know where I am going? I know, I'm dreaming. I'll pinch myself to find out.

Night Rider

Ouch, That hurt. How do you know where I'm going and where did you come from?

Taxi Driver

Don't you know, Yellow Cab is everywhere. You looked like you were starting in this direction and that's the direction I'm going. Hop on in. No charge.

Night Rider opened the back door and climbed inside. That was when everything went crazy. The car began transforming itself and it no longer was a Taxi. He tried to move but he couldn't as the seat belt held him tight and refused to let go. The car shot forward like a rocket lifting off for it's journey through space. Suddenly he heard a familiar voice speaking to him.

KITT

You should have known I would track you down through that sensor the agency put inside your head. I take it now we are one with the Shadows of Darkness?

Night Rider

Wrong KITT, We are Shadows of Darkness.

KITT

According to Wikipedia Darkness is defined as the polar opposite to brightness. It is understood to be an absence of visible light. It is also the appearance of black in a colored space.
 Humans are unable to distinguish color when either light or darkness predominate. In conditions of insufficient light, perception is achromatic and ultimately, black. 

Night Rider

So you say KITT. Now may I take control of the wheel before you get us killed.

KITT

You don't trust my driving?

Night Rider

Not when your quoting me from Wikipedia I don't.

KITT

Well your not getting control until we get where we are going. I know the way and you don't. Should I quote 'direction' for you?

Night Rider

Don't be a smart @$$ and lets go.

As soon as he said it he knew he shouldn't have. The car exploded down the highway, Leaving a trail of fire behind from the tires burning. He watched as the speedometer climbed higher and higher. He had no ideal where they were going and all he could see outside went past him in a blur. Suddenly they came to a stop. The door opened and the seat belt holding him released. Night Rider climbed out of the car and looked around.

The place looked as if it were alive. It was dark but you could tell it was moving at the same time. Like the dark walls of your bedroom pulsating and moving around you. He turned towards KITT who answered before he could even ask the question.

KITT

This is why I had to go so fast. I had to reach a certain speed to break the barrier. This place, Is the land beyond the darkness. The land of shadows. Those forgotten Shadows who are no longer needed in the darkness. They spend their time here now. Sometimes you can even hear their moans through the darkness. 

Night Rider

But why are we here?

KITT

Because, In order for you to join the Shadows you have to understand them. Listen closely to the moaning shadows and feel their pain.

Then KITT was gone. He could sense someone nearby watching him. Everything around him seemed to be moving. As if he were on some weird acid trip. The ground under him seemed to move him at will. He felt something before him and reached out with his hand.

He saw a vision of a man in battle. His sword cutting through his enemies. He watched as another came at the man from behind and drove a sword deep into his gut before jerking it upwards with such force it cut him in half. The body stood there for a second or two like a palm tree with the sturdy feet still holding the death above it. He watched as the man's shadow slowly crept away from the body and disappeared.

The vision was gone and he was moving once again. Before long he felt another presence before him and reached out his hand almost on instinct. Another vision began to take form around him. He saw a young woman running through a field with her dress torn and barely hanging on her. Behind her two men were riding horses and chasing her. They were toying with her, Getting close enough to hit her with the whips they carried and backing off again. They wanted to see just how much she could take. A rattlesnake startled one of the riders and his whip caught around the woman's throat. The horse jerked at the same time and snapped her neck. The lifeless body fell to the ground as her shadow crawled off into the darkness.

He screamed and sat up in bed as the alarm clock went off. He shook his head and reached out for the clock. He threw it across the room and smiled as it crashed against the wall and fell to pieces. waiting for his eyes to adjust he tried to remember if what happened was real or a dream. He dressed and had a cup of coffee before opening the front door.

KITT

It's about time you wake up. You know, Too much sleep isn't good for you. Did you enjoy your visit with the Shadows? Now do you know why you were there?

Night Rider

I needed to know of the courage and the anger behind the lives that were lost. The suffering they endured then and still endure even now. I must fight for them and free them from their prison? But How?

KITT

You will know what to do when the time comes. Just trust your instincts.

Night Rider

I do that anyway. Where are we headed?

KITT

For your interview with Hank Brown. Denise is supposed to meet us there.

Night Rider

When did you set all of this up?

KITT

When you were playing hide and seek with the Shadows. I had to keep myself amused somehow. Here we are. They should be waiting for you in the bar. I also had them order you a Jack and Coke. Now get in there and start this shit rolling before everyone gets bored.

The door opens and Night Rider gets out of the car. He walks inside and is met at once by Hank Brown who had a disturbed look on his face.

Hank Brown

Keep that woman away from me. I swear she is going to kill me.

Night Rider

If she wanted you dead it would have already happened. Be careful how you talk about the woman I love! I might just end up doing the deed myself. Now what in the hell happened?

Hank Brown

Nothing, I just asked her if she thought the two of you stood a chance against BioWalker. She just lost it and I thought for sure I was going to die. 

Denise D'Evil

There you are. Do you know what this dumb ass had the audacity to ask me? If we stood a chance against BioWalker. Come on, Really? How stupid is that? That's like asking a PitBull how it will do against a poodle. I wanted to rip his damn tongue out.

Night Rider

That was a pretty stupid question to ask. You should have known better. Tyler Walker and Bio Hazard both know that this will be just another night of extreme pain for them to go through. They understand it is nothing but a pay day. They get money win or lose and hey, That will cover their asses for another week. 

Hank Brown

Can I quote you on that?

Night Rider

Turn around and I'll carve it into your damn ass. I don't give a shit if you quote me on that. I'll tell them that to their faces. They know they can't handle this shit! Especially with Denise and myself both being there to kick their sorry asses. Hey, We should have an ass kicking party afterwards.

Denise D'Evil

I think we should start right now with this sorry bastard. 

Hank Brown

Hey, My parents were married.

Denise D'Evil

No they were not. The pool cleaner was your daddy. Now what?

Night Rider

Damn dude, You just got burned.

Hank Brown

I can see where this interview is going.

Night Rider

Yeah, We haven't even made it to the table yet. Where's my drink?

Hank Brown

Come on, We're back here.

The three of them walked back to the table and Night Rider quickly grabbed his drink. He needed it! After downing it he motioned for the waitress to bring them another one. He turned towards Hank with a serious look on his face.

Night Rider

Why don't you ask? I know your dying to know.

Hank Brown

Ask what?

Night Rider

Come on, Don't mess with me. You and I both know the only reason we are sitting here is because you want to know who the other shadows are. You could give a shit about a couple of chumps like BioWalker. Isn't that what you really want to know?

Hank Brown

Okay, You got me. Everyone wants to know about The Shadows of Darkness. They want to know who else is involved.

Denise D'Evil

It's too bad we are not going to tell you. One thing you can know about The Shadows is we could be anyone and we could be anywhere. We could be your neighbor right next door. When the time is right the others will come forward to reveal themselves. Their time has not yet come.

Hank Brown

You said 'others' as in plural, Meaning more than one.

Night Rider

Hey, Dumb ass got one right. You go to the head of the class. You will all find out who everyone is when we want you to find out. Until then, Just keep wondering. That will give you something to bounce around that empty head of yours. Now, As far as our little date with Walker and Hazard. Let's just say they are in for a rough evening. I hope they are prepared for what we have in store for them. I have a lot of pent up aggression I plan on taking out on them. 

Denise D'Evil

We will both be making a statement to everyone in regards to what the Shadows of Darkness are all about. We are going to make sure BioWalker wishes they had never agreed to this match. We will not be held responsible for our actions. 

Night Rider

BioWalker was doomed from the moment the ink hit the paper. It's not their fault they didn't think things ahead. Don't hate them for being terrible. They thought this was the foreign legion they were joining. Highlights through your local news at ten.

Hank Brown

One more question. Are the two of you getting married? Has he asked the question yet?

Denise D'Evil

That's none of your business.

Night Rider

Interview is over.

The two of them walked out of the bar just as KITT was pulling up out front and the doors opened. They climbed into the car and were belted in as the car took off.

Night Rider

Good timing KITT. How did you know?

KITT

I was listening the whole time. I planted a microphone on you earlier. I knew you were too much of a chicken to answer that question. If not you would have asked her already. Correct?

Night Rider

I should have known. This is a conspiracy isn't it?

The three of them laugh as the car soars off into the sunset. Below them, An unsuspecting city gets ready for sleep as the shadows creep in among them.
