What started as a Twitter feud no different than many others in the professional wrestling realm, has now evolved into its own one-time Pay-Per-View event. After weeks of back and forth, the highly-anticipated match between Corey Black and Jordan Caliban has finally been scheduled. Just days ago it looked like this match was on life support due to contractual issues, but yesterday both parties officially agreed to the match, scheduled for Thursday, January 16th.
The venue will be unique, as it should be for a match with this sort of hype. Stepping in the middle of the feud earlier this week was the Wrestling Championship Federation's Jonny Fly, offering to host the match at his own residence. As the President of TnT Wrestling in the mid-2000's, in need of a place to host shows, Fly built a 7,500 person capacity arena into the underground of his New York City mansion. That facility will serve as the location for Black vs. Caliban.
"I think both competitors will find some tranquility in the setting. At least until the match begins" says Fly. "This is basically your standard arena you get anywhere else, with the exception that's it a little smaller, a little more intimate. The arena is basically a large bowl. At the very bottom of the bowl is the ring and the seating slopes upwards around it. Ringside isn't very big, the crowd is going to be right on top of these two. The roof is shallow, about fifty feet above the ground or so. It's going to be loud in there. I'm exited."
The match has already landed a Pay-Per-View deal. XFINITY from Comcast will be selling subscriptions to watch the match for $14.99. With strong buy-rates a near certainty, profits for the event will be used to pay all expenses with the rest being split equally between Black and Caliban. If watching on television isn't your thing, tickets still remain to watch in person.
According to Fly, "I started taking calls from individuals wanting tickets on Monday, but we opened up ticket sales officially last night. There's still a few thousand remaining. I want the fans to know that the arena is full service. Not only will the atmosphere be incredible, but their experience will be as well. I have shuttles lined up to take people to and from the airport or any local hotel. Concessions will be available, unfortunately we'll only be able to offer Hot Fries, Vienna Fingers, and Coffee Cakes. If you're not a fan of those three things, let's be honest, you don't need to come. Alcoholic drinks will be available, in large volume, no restrictions. Clothing is optional, unless you're a guy. It'll be a fun time."
With a match that both competitors have promised to be violent, there's no telling what's going to happen when these two finally square off. Subscriptions can be purchased by clicking here.
