My New Year's Resolution: Light Em Up
B-B-B-Be careful making wishes in the dark, dark
Can't be sure when they've hit their mark
Can't be sure when they've hit their mark
The scene opens up in the backstage area of Staples Center the battleground for WCF's recent pay per view spectacle One. The camera pans down a hallway revealing an empty parking garage, all the wrestlers, interviewers, production crew, referees and agents etc. all have gone home for the holidays. The dust seemingly settling, after a night full of alot of emoitional moments on the biggest stage of them all. Finally after going through hallways, past locker rooms, and the interview area, we see Jayden Thunder sitting on the floor against the wall. He's wearing a hoodie with a logo of a hand grabbing a lightning bolt, black pair of shorts, and converses. His luggage is next to him revealing that he hasn't left Los Angeles, despite living in the City of Angels.
So close, was so close, if it wasn't for him, we could have won the Tag Team Titles.
Like the natural psychics we all are we begin to hear the thoughts of Jayden Thunder clearly frustrated that he didn't win the gold in the Tag Team Titles Match against the dominant reigning champs, the Thickness, despite not being the one that was pinned in the match.
What now? Where do I go from here? Do I still have it?
As Jayden ponders that question to himself we begin to hear the wheels of a rolling trash can as a man appears on screen. Seeing him pushing a trash can and carrying a broom and dust pan one would assume that the man is the janitor. The janitor walks through the hallway and comes upon Jayden around the corner almost hitting him with the trash can.
Janitor: "Whoa sorry there son, didn't see you there."
Jayden: "No worries, I shouldn't have been sitting on the floor anyways."
Jayden gets up off the floor and once to his feet he grabs his luggage and proceeds to leave before the old man stops him.
Janitor: "Why are you even still here if you don't mind me asking? Everyone is gone now."
Jayden: "Oh I was thinking, couldn't bring myself to leave."
Janitor: "Why's that?"
Jayden: "I'm humbled. I came here tonight and laced up a pair of boots again and came back into wrestliing. I won my debut match but lost the Tag Team Titles match."
Janitor: "You can't win them all kid."
Jayden: "That's the thing I'm not, I'm 35 years old, sure that may be a young number but it's really not in the wrestling world. You're lucky to get through your 40s to make it into your 50s. And I'm just coming back after not wrestling for a few years. I don't know if I still have it in me?"
Janitor: "You're still alive, that's good enough, you seem healthy and fit to get where you want. What's stopping you? You're a wrestler, nut up or shut up. If you're still able to go for the dream then go for it. You might get knocked down but get back up."
Jayden is at a loss for words as the wise man catches him off guard, a few awkward moments go by before Jayden speaks in reply.
Jayden: "You're...you're right. Nobody said doing this job was easy. I should nut up. Should follow the examples set by the veterans here."
Janitor: "Looks like you have a good New Year's Resolution there."
Jayden: "You're right I do, I'm going to go home and prepare for 2014. This is just the beginning, the story is still being written. Thanks.
The janitor nods as Jayden Thunder walks off and the screen fades to black.
