Act 1: What Should I do?

The scene opens on the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Santa Monica California. The night sky was clear and filled with stairs and the waves gently kissed the shoreline every time that they rolled. The moon was full and shone brightly casting it's beams to the earth below and casting it's reflection below. The sound of the city seemed far away as we see Denise and Night Rider walking along the now empty and darkened beach. Their match had not gone as planned, but now the biggest match was coming and they knew what had to be done. They walked in silence hand in hand letting their own thoughts run through their minds. The match this week was going to be a tough one not just on their bodies but on their relationship. They had gotten close as of late and it had blossomed into something great and amazing. Denise was conflicted more then she had ever been before but she had to defend her title, no matter what she had to do.
Night Rider: You've been quiet...
Denise: I know... Just thinking about the match.
Night Rider: You can't let it get to you.
Denise: How can't I? You won the shot fair and square, and now we have to faced each other on Sunday night. You know that I'm not going to just hand it to you, and I will defend it with everything that I have.
Night Rider: I know that, and it doesn't matter. It's a match! Nothing more! We do what we have to do Sunday night and then we forget it. If you walk away with the title again then so be it. If I win it, I know you'll be happy for me right?
Denise nods, but something in her eyes told him different. She loved him with every fiber of her being and would defend him to the death if need be. But when she was in the ring it was different. She was wild, unpredictable, and relentless against anyone that stood in her way.
Denise: I will be, but I don't want to hurt you. You know what I can do, and I won't stop until I either walk away with the title again, or you leave me in the middle of the ring broken and bloodied. Tell me will you hold back because it's me or will you do what you have to do?
Night Rider: I'm going to do whatever it takes to get that title, but I'm in the same boat as you Denise! I don't want to hurt you, but I know you're not going to just to hand the title over without a fight. What do you want me to do? Just pin you and walk away with the title?
Denise lets her hand slip from his and walk a little way before she turns to him and looks back at him with her deep blue eyes sparkling in the moonlight.
Denise: I don't know. One of us is going to get hurt no matter what we do. There is no way around this, and Sarah knows it! We have to go in there and do this match, even if it means one of us walking away with nothing.
She turns and starts to walk off, leaving Night Rider watching after her.
Night Rider: Where are you going?
Denise: I need time to think about this... I don't want to lose you.
She starts to break into a full sprint with her hair whipping against the wind as she does. Tears stream from her face, trying not to let Night Rider see. She reaches the private suite at the hotel and closes the door behind her. Her thoughts raced with everything that had been said, and knew it was only a matter of time before the choice would have to be made. Did she do what had to be done, or would she throw the match just to hand the title over to the man she loved? She moves through the quiet suite and sits down at the piano and begins to play. Her fingers moved slowly on the keys filling the suite with the soft music.

Denise: "I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music
do you?
It's goes like this the fourth, the fifth
the minor fall, the major lift
the baffled King composing Hallelujah
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music
do you?
It's goes like this the fourth, the fifth
the minor fall, the major lift
the baffled King composing Hallelujah
As Denise plays her mind flashes back to the first time that she and Night Rider had been together. Their bodies intertwined, drenched in sweat, and lust filled their hearts for one another. She shook from her thoughts as she continued to play.
Denise: Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hall- el- ujah
Your faith was strong,
but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof,
her beauty in the moonlight over threw you
She tied you a kitchen chair,
she broke your throne,
she cut your hair, and from your lips
she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hall- el- ujah
Your faith was strong,
but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof,
her beauty in the moonlight over threw you
She tied you a kitchen chair,
she broke your throne,
she cut your hair, and from your lips

Her mind flashes back to the first time that they met, and she was taken with him then. Her heart had belonged to another at the time, but there was something about him.
Denise: Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hall- el- ujah
Maybe I have been here before
I know this room; I've walked this floor,
I used to alive alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch,
love is not a victory march, it's a cold
and broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hall- el- ujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hall- el- ujah
Maybe I have been here before
I know this room; I've walked this floor,
I used to alive alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch,

and broken Hallelujah

Denise's mind flashes back to the one of the last matches that she was in when Oblivion was still on their side or so they thought. He had tied her in the ropes, and watched him as he pummeled Night Rider into the mat. She wasn't going to be a monster and destroy him, but it was going to come to it, if she wasn't careful.
Denise: There was a time you let me know
what's really going on below, but
now you never show it to me,
do you?
And I remember when I moved in you;
The holy dark was moving too,
And every breath we drew
was Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hall - el - ujah
what's really going on below, but
now you never show it to me,
do you?
And I remember when I moved in you;
The holy dark was moving too,
And every breath we drew
was Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Denise stops playing and breaks down sobbing over the keys. Her long hair falls over her face, as tears stream down her face. She falls into a restless sleep with her head on the keys letting her dreams starting to take over. The sound of crowds cheering loudly brings her from her sleep, and she gets up. As she looks around she sees the Staples Center lit up with the crowds already packed in. She moves on silent feet, passing through the crowds not being seen. She reaches the middle of the room, and was now standing in the middle of the ring. She could see herself standing over Night Rider, with hands raised and a strange black aura was wrapped around her. Her eyes glowed red, and an evil laugh filled the arena, as the crowds cheered. She holds the title up, as blood flows from the fallen Night Rider. Denise looks down and backs up, as her other half laughed, looking at her through the long hair that had fallen over her face. The evil Denise vanishes before her eyes, and she was now holding the title, as she looked down at Night Rider. The mat had turned a crimson red, and her boots were covered. Night Rider's hand reaches out for her foot, and Denise wakes up. She falls off of the piano bench and hits the floor. Her heart was racing as she looked around, realizing where she was. She gets to her feet, and walks out onto the balcony seeing a single rose on the railing. She picks it up and sighs. Night Rider had been come to check on her, but where was he now? The sound of her phone ringing from within in breaks the silence. Denise turns and walks inside, seeing that it was Night Rider's number. She sets the phone back down, and walks back out onto the balcony once again over looking the blackness of the sea.
Denise: I don't know if that dream is a warning, or is it the side that I try to hide from the rest of the world waiting to come out? I can't go through with this match can I? I mean if I step into that ring with Night Rider there is going to be a really good chance that I can kill him or hurt him bad enough to end his career. I know that I have to do this, but God I don't want to.
She leans against the railing and stares out at the darkened beach hearing the waves roll into the shore.
Denise: But if I don't do this, then what kind of champion would I be? I mean I have to defend my title no matter who I have to face or who wants it. Why am I so torn over this? If I don't defend my title I'll lose it, and if I do there is a chance I'll lose, but I should be happy considering who I would lose it to. I'm not going to hold back though, no matter what, I can't look weak and still be able to hold my head up high and say that I'm the Champion of the people can I? I've never held back in a match before and I'm not going to start now but my dream... It was just that, a dream.
Denise sighs, as she feels a cold breeze move under the long jacket she wore. She shivers slightly feeling the night air against her skin before turning and heading back inside with the rose in hand.
Denise: Why did it have to be Night Rider? Why couldn't it have been one of the others that he had faced that night? I have my faith in him that he can beat me, but I know that he won't hold back in the ring. He and I are almost equally matched in this, and neither one of us will give up the chance of having a title on our arm. But the question is who will come out on top in all of this when all is said and done?
She moves to the mirror that was in the bedroom and her reflection smiles as the red eyes appear once again. Denise stands shocked by what she sees hoping that she was still asleep and this was nothing more than another dream.
Reflection: What's wrong Denise? Can't believe your own eyes?
Denise: You can't be real! It was a dream, and nothing more!
Reflection: Was it a dream? Or is it a warning of what is yet to come? Think about every other mortal that you have had as lovers and how alone you were each and every time that they walk away. You lost Classy Jay over a simple fetish that Neptune had, and so many others before him. Jason was a demon in more ways then one, and you ended his life without a second thought. And now... Now you have Night Rider who you have to face this Sunday night in a match over the title that you now carry. You can't go easy on him and you know it. You are stronger then he is, and you need to prove it to everyone in the back of that arena just in case they have forgotten how good you truly are. And as a warning to anyone else that gets the bright idea of taking it from you in the future.
Denise: I'm not going to hurt him just because I have a title on my arm! I'm going to give the crowd what they want, but I don't have to bring him to the brink of death! I love him, and nothing is going to change that!
The reflection laughs as Denise paces back and forth.
Reflection: Do you think that Night Rider is going to go easy on you? Do you think he's going to hold back just because of what you two have shared? Hardly! He's going to do what he has to do to beat you and take that title away from you. You know what I'm saying is true and it's killing you inside right now.
Denise: I know he'll do whatever he has to do, and I'm not going to hold that against him. It's what we have to do, just to survive in the company and in the middle of the ring. I will come back from any beating that I take, but he's only...
Reflection: Mortal? That's what is really killing you inside isn't it? If he gets beaten there is a really good chance that he won't live through it or he will have his career ended at your hands. That's why it's eating away at you so badly isn't it?
Denise: I don't care what I have to do, but I'm not going to lose control! I'll hold back just to keep him out of harms way! If I lose the title then so be it! I can at least be happy for him, and the fact that our match was one of respect, and not one of revenge or resentment.
Reflection: Really? Are you sure there isn't more behind this? Like jealously on his part?
Denise turns and smashes the mirror with one hit causing the pieces to fall to the floor. Blood drips from her hand as she clenches it, and heads to the bathroom to find a first aid kit, as the scene fades to black.
