OFF CAMERA
The scene opens as I am sat here at the Sunrise Coffee Shop in Las Vegas, Nevada dressed in a long-sleeved light blue denim jacket, a black ‘In God We Trust, Inc’ Dead Kennedys T-shirt, a pair of light blue denim jeans and a pair of steel toe capped punk combat boots. I’m looking slightly dishevelled due to what happened on Slam last night, I haven’t been able to sleep since Mack’s disappearance and I must be onto at least my fourth cup of coffee. On one hand I’m thinking whether I will ever see her again, but on the other hand I’m thinking, how can I feel so strongly for a woman I’ve only known for just over a month. I finish off my coffee and check my watch to see what time it is, still waiting on the arrival of someone who I would never have expected to be by my side during my time of need, my attention is diverted when the tall brunette waitress approaches me with a large glass jug of coffee and she asks me.
“More coffee Sir?”
I nod and manage to give her a small but fake smile as she fills up my cup to which I respond with.
“Thank you…”
Suddenly I hear the bell chime on the door to the coffee shop as I look up to see Chelsea Black Armstrong walk in, she is wearing dark blue jeans and her black boots while her top is hidden underneath a baggie black hoodie. She looks over spotting me as she flashes me a smile before walking over, as she nears closer I notice Shelley sitting on her hip dressed in a warm dark purple body suit as her arms are wrapped around Chelsea's neck. Walking closer she sits down as the brunette from earlier ushers over a highchair for Shelley and Chelsea says to her.
“Thank you.”
The highchair remains empty though as she places Shelley on her lap before stating.
“I hope you don't mind me bringing her along, Seifer was going to get in some much needed training with Matt and I couldn't think to not bring her with me.”
I glance at Shelley as it brings back memories of Charity, my one and only daughter that turned out to not be my daughter after all. I smile slightly whilst looking down at my cup of coffee that I have cupped in my hands and I say to her.
“Not at all, like I said on Twitter, I’m glad you have her back and in all honesty, I don’t blame you for wanting to keep her by your side after what happened.”
Giving a small smile she nods glancing at me as I can feel her studying my face, slowly she places one of her hands onto mine making me look up at her as she says to me.
"It's going to be okay Steele, trust me I know how you're feeling right now..."
I take a drink of my coffee before responding with.
“I care about her a lot you know, I was pretty much done with wrestling and relationships after I had discovered that Tori had been cheating on me and that Charity wasn’t even my daughter. Then I bump into you and Stacy, you two introduce me to Mack and…I suddenly get a new lease of life. I’m confused about how I feel towards her though, I mean, should I be having such strong feelings for her so early on? I nearly told her the other day that I loved her for cryin’ out loud. The last time I rushed into a relationship, I got married way too soon, thought I had a kid way too soon and look what happened there. My minds in pieces right now, I don’t know what I should be thinking and what I shouldn’t be thinking…”
She nods before stating.
"Relationships are definitely confusing things, take me and Seifer for example...we didn't as so much as look at one another when I first joined NWA. I remember even torturing his first wife in one of my first matches...yet I do believe everything happens for a reason. Bad things happened to both of us but it drove us together and we got eloped, it happened quick but we never looked back and I couldn't be any happier than I am right now. When someone is right for you you'll know it, if it's suppose to happen it will no matter how fast you think it is. Mack's a great girl, but honestly I don't think it's so much your feelings toward her you're confused about...I think you're scared she'll turn out the same as Tori. It's okay to be scared but you can't allow that to control what you do, that can end up being very dangerous."
I take another drink of my coffee and say to her.
“Well I think she knew what I wanted to say to her, she told me that she didn’t want me to say anything that she couldn’t reciprocate as she believed that to be unfair on me. But anyway, I need you to help me with something; it’s the reason why I asked you here.”
Again, she nods and replies with.
"Of course, what do you need?"
I sigh a little, looking down to my cup of coffee again and saying.
“I need you to call Matt and tell him to meet you right now outside at the parking lot of the hotel we’re all staying at, don’t say why and don’t say anything about me meeting with him too.”
She looks a little confused before she shifts Shelley on her lap taking her cell phone out of her pocket and saying.
"Okay…"
Scrolling through her contacts she seems to have found the one she wants as she hits a button before putting the phone to her ear as she looks down at Shelley, after a few moments she begins talking.
"Hey Matt its Chels, no everything is fine but I need a favour...can you meet me in the hotel parking lot? Right now if possible, okay I'll see you soon…"
Hanging up the phone she places it on the table before glancing at me and stating.
"He's on his way there…"
I nod before I reach into my pocket and take a few dollar bills out of my pocket and place them on the table to pay for the coffee’s I’ve had. I stand to my feet as does Chelsea and I hand her phone to her and say.
“We better get going then…”
We both make our way out of the coffee shop and make our way down the street, I quickly glance over to Chelsea and I can tell she’s about to ask me why I have asked her of this and sure enough, she asks.
"I have to ask...why didn't you want me telling Matt that you'd be there? Is there something I don't know about between you two?"
Hugging Shelley to her she shields her face from the cold as she has begun to fall asleep as I say.
“I’d imagine that with our past, as in Tori and I kidnapping Stacy and Nick back when I was one of those obnoxious glory hungry pricks, he’d probably refuse to see me on my own, so I needed someone who he trusts to help me get to him. I apologise for using you like this, but I really need to see him.”
Nodding she smiles slightly before stating.
"It's okay Steele; I understand why you're doing it. I'll do my best to keep him calm in all of this...I suppose it's not certain how he will react when he see's you. Just stay by me and I promise I will do my best to play mediator, the last thing we need is a fall out happening within our own people."
We turn the corner and instantly spot Matt dressed in a pair of black leather rocker boots, a pair of dark blue denim jeans, a black ‘The Last Crusade’ Trivium T-shirt, a pair of black leather gloves and a black leather biker jacket. He’s busy smoking a cigarette and he glances over and notices us, Chels gives him a wave and he acknowledges it with a nod, then he notices me before looking down to the ground, shaking his head and throwing his cigarette away and begins to take his leave as I say.
“Like I thought, he’s not even going to give me a chance…but based on what I did, I don’t blame him.”
Chels then calls out to him.
"Matt, Matt please, just hear him out."
Rushing ahead of me she grabs Matt's arm as she starts pleading with him to listen to me as he says.
“I don’t have to listen to a damn thing this man has to say to me…he means nothing to me…and he never damn well will!”
Matt frees his arm from Chels’ grasp and continues walking away from us before she continues to plead with him.
"Matt please! Do it for Makayla! Please, she tried so hard to help Shelley and I, he tried so hard...Matt please...I can't let her down..."
Matt stops in his tracks and turns around to face us and states.
“Okay fine, I’ll hear him out…for you…and for Makayla…”
Matt then gets right up into my face before continuing.
“But rest assured I am certainly not doing this for you…understand?”
Chelsea looks at me nodding reassuringly before stepping between the two of us in the hopes of keeping the confrontation down as she says.
"Thank you Matt...now go ahead Steele…"
I take a deep breath and I’m about to say what I want to say when I’m cut off by Matt who says.
“You want me to use my skills as a former cop to track Makayla down, I’m going to need your phone…I’m sure if you need to communicate with someone…you can go ahead and borrow the phone belonging to your new best friend here…”
Matt gives Chels a slightly disappointed look as I hand my phone over to Matt as he continues with.
“Anything else you want from me? Or is that everything?”
Chelsea slightly stepping back looks at Matt as I can see her sigh a little before glancing down; she then looks back at me before he again continues.
“I’ll take that as a no then…”
Matt then turns and walks away leaving us alone. Chelsea watches him leave before holding Shelley close as she closes her eyes slightly; opening them she looks back at the ground before glancing at me.
"I guess it could have gone worse…"
I nod and say to her.
“Yeah, thanks for your help. Maybe one day Matt and I can let by gones be by gones…”
She gives me a reassuring smile before saying.
"You're welcome, I said I'd be here to help you and I'm going to do that...no matter what Matt thinks about it...and you never know. There may be some hope there, it's going to take a lot though...I honestly didn't think he'd be like he was but I guess I can't blame him…"
I nod and state.
“Yeah, I don’t blame him either…but what matters is he’s helping trying to track down Mack and that’s what matters. I don’t care if Matt and I never see eye to eye, just as long as I get Mack back, I don’t care…”
Smiling Chelsea nods before surprising me and pulling me in for a hug and saying.
"We'll get her back I promise, she's tough, she'll be able to handle anything Lilith and Logan throw at her. We'll get her back safe soon enough, just don't drive yourself crazy over this, you have to keep your mind straight. So if you need anything at all you can get a hold of me, I'll always be here to help."
Chels then breaks her embrace and I smile at her, nodding before saying.
“Thanks Chels…I think I’ll try and get some sleep…”
We then part ways as I make my way into the hotel as the scene fades.
