Friday the 13th. A day that coincides with supernatural entities of the darkness. Jason Voorhees, witches, black cats. It's basically Halloween without all the candy. Every single instance of this day, Corey Black is given the opportunity to hold a show. In a place of his choosing. With wrestlers of his choosing. In matches of his choosing. It's a wish he won from Steve Carr back in 2006. It's been 7 years, this is the 11th XIII event Corey Black has hosted. This time, it will be from The Myth in Minnesota, a smaller venue, but with a great atmosphere.
This is where Corey Black is, he's inside the Myth, overlooking the ring set up. Various workers are putting the wood panels down in the ring, and other are building the ramp way that connects the stage and the ring. It's all coming together, a grand return to ... EPPW? Kind of? Even though XIII isn't sanctioned by the company, the primary focus is the wrestlers of EPPW or WCF or whatever it's called nowadays. Always has been, always will be. XIII is a place where feuds go to get fucking crazy. Take, for instance, Corey Black and Oblivion. More on that later. Inside the Myth, Corey is good with the happenings, so he heads backstage where the rest of the workers are getting locker rooms set up.
Inside a managerial office, Corey takes a seat. He looks to his left, where a brand new Title Belt sits. It's the XIII Title, something that took him this long to create. It's gold plated on black leather, just like any other belt of importance, but the main plate is shaped into a hockey mask with two machetes crossing behind it. A banner on the top reads 'XIII' and one across the bottom says 'Champion.' It's the prize for tonight, the winner gets the spoils. For Corey though, it's more than that.

Why did I choose Oblivion? You'd assume it could be a number of reasons. He's violent, he's crazy, he's a former World Champion. But the real reason is revenge. It takes a real big asshole to piss me off for long enough to hold a real grudge, but Oblivion is it. I remember being beat in GEW. I remember the Church of Dark Saints, where he brought in some fucking imposter Creeping Death. This whole "why Oblivion why" should really be "oh my stars, Corey Black is going to murder a busta." There's nothing to do with respect or ratings. I chose this man because I want to whip his ass, nothing more and nothing less.
XIII is my show to do what I want. I usually use it to make fools of those who piss me off. Adam Young, Logan, Reckless Jack, I could go on and on. This time, it's Oblivion. I wish I could say it wasn't personal, but that's a boldface lie. This dates back to almost a year ago to the day. September 18th of last year, we participated in the main event of GEW's Shoot to Thrill show. This comes full circle, Oblivion. All the mind games you've played, all the shit you pulled against me, and on that day, you were better. That day, though, was a long time ago. This is MY show. My home, my venue, and my match. You're a man for stepping up and accepting the challenge, but you're a fool for overlooking the reasoning behind it. Sure, you could very well be blissfully ignorant. Hell, you might even have an idea of why I chose you, but I know deep down you had no idea it was any of this. And that's why I'm going to beat you.
You might have lucked out, though. Before my two supposed friends decided to bitch out, you only had to deal with ladders and barbed wire. Now you're going to be subjected to endless toys. Nobody has ever seen an XIII Cage Match, and that was planned from the beginning. This will be a sight to behold, like nothing ever seen. You're my guinea pig. My third experiment at XIII. The first two were laughable at best. Look at my lineage at this show, Oblivion. Beat Lawnmower Jones. Beat Skyler Stryker. Beat everyone I've placed into my own path, and they've all been hand picked for one reason or another. It's not to stroke my ego or to make me seem better than anyone. It's because I'm better. I'm the guy here. Fuck, I don't even wrestle here often and I'm still on everyone's lips, XIII or not.
The simple fact is this, Oblivion. You're huge, you're a so called Monster and God and It, but when you step into the Myth tonight for XIII, you're nothing more than my bitch. I invented this event, I invented the match type, and I invented the prize. There is no advantage for you at all. Do you know exactly what you're stepping in to? Let me break it down. My town, my people. You're going to have upwards of 500 fans chanting and begging for your blood. Believe me, they're going to get their wish. I would describe everything I am going to do to you, but it's pretty obvious if you saw the last show.
Corey pulls something into the view of the camera. It's a rather large blade.
Corey Black
That's fuckin' right, I'm bringing the machete to Minneapolis. I'm going to slay the Monster and take what is mine, the XIII Title. I'll move along, take my win and my title and move to December, where I'll defend the belt for the very first time.. and I'll win there too. I remember when you first showed up, Oblivion. You were a lower card guy, making headway because you're probably clinically insane. It was your matches with Greenfever that started to set you apart from the pack. Then you won the World Title, and just as fast as your rise, you fell to the bottom. Started a few stables that did literally nothing but annoyed people. Look at me, man. I was World Champion in 2012, AFTER I had climbed that mountain four times before and then left for New York. You don't think that means I'm the best this place has ever or will ever see? I dare ANYONE to achieve as much as I have. Sure, being in the company for almost twelve years doesn't hurt, but that's the way the cookie crumbled. I got in early and now I am the number one name WCF has. Down that list a ways is Oblivion.
You couldn't even cut it in New York. You came in for what, three matches and then you split? Way to represent your supposed 'home.' I went there looking for a challenge, because I've done it all here. You went there for a paycheck and then you ran away with your tail between your legs when you found out you can't handle change. Luckily for me, that's what XIII is. It's change. And I'm going to change you. Your face, specifically. With my elbows. THE most dangerous weapon in the match. It won't be a ladder, or barbed wire, or any object. Going into this XIII Cage Match, with all these ultraviolent weapons of destruction, the very best weapon is attached to my body, Oblivion. Can you survive For Victory or Death? Or will you just be the latest victim?
Let me answer that for you.
You're a fucking victim.
Corey stands up from the office chair and shows off his elbow, the instrument he's used plenty of times to secure victories in IWF, but can ge do it tonight at XIII against the monster? Only time will tell. We fade.
