Clint Eastwood gets on my tits. Mind you the only Western I enjoy is Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. The genre bores me.

boxing films bore the crap out of me How is that possible? Boxing movies are awesome. Rocky was a classic, Ali is a fantastic movie about Muhammad Ali's career. I have yet to see Million Dollar Baby, but when I do, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

I haven't exactly seen many boxing films (the only Rocky I have watched is V) so I'm not one to judge.

The Great White Hope starring James Earl Jones is another classic. And of course Raging Bull with Robert DeNiro.

sorry guys, I've been gone for a few days. Favorite movie? I know I'm going to sound like a nerd for saying it, but I would have to say Clerks. Shows what you can do without special effects, without a huge budged, and with simply well written script and good actors.

Not a big fan? Why? Do you not value life? Do you not understand? Comprehend? Maybe you need to watch it, and the second one. Then you'd have a learned a lesson with not only your life, but with life in general.

I enjoyed the concept of 'Jigsaw' but the whole idea was flawed and quite obvious.

I think we have different variations in film or at least ones that inspire reverence in one's life. I get the exact experience when watching American Beauty that you mention when you see SAW. For me it takes a middle-aged drugged up Kevin Spacey to get me to respect life wheras with you it takes a proverbial sledgehammer and a visceral approach.

Flawed? Quite obvious? You've lost your bullets.
You have no idea what you're talking about, so this conversation is now over. Hard to debate against someone who knows nothing about the subject.

The concept is flawed. I'm not arguing with its intention as it is a very original and refreshing approach to the horror psycho genre. I'm just saying that it didn't speak to me in the same manner which it did to you.
And don't you think your being overly critical and quite harsh to berate my life experience because I don't value a film as highly as you?

How is the concept flawed? It's hard to come by two different explainations.
Jigsaw gets people that do bad things, harmful to themselves and others. Then, he places them in a situation of extreme measures. They die, they die. They get out, they value life and learn their lesson. Or close.

Not the concept of Jigsaw. More the concept of the franchise. With SAW you got a sense of immediecy in that Jigsaw was suffering and would probably be dead before too long. This ephemerality gave it a greater impact but with SAW II and SAW III it reduces the impact of his intentions.

It's not about the value of a film, it's how the film speaks to the people that watch it. Of course, it's just a movie, but the whole point of it, is to understand what is going on in our crazy, crazy (Yes... It's fuckin crazy) world.
That film, for how much money it used in the film it's self, delivered everything it needed to. The chills. The frights. The gore. The blood. The puzzle pieces. No way in hell anyone saw any of it coming. They hardly even hint at it, as most films do. They gave you I seriously walked around after the movie, pondering to myself how the fuck someone put that much badassness into one tiny DVD disc.
You obviously haven't seen it. Nor do you care, so having this argument is a waste of my time, and yours.
Good day.

Jesus H. Christ! It did what you wanted it do, not what I wanted it to. It just didn't work for me. Like I said we have different perspectives on films but your absolutist style of review is quite extrodinary. Because I don't like the film as much as you I therefore haven't seen it? Fuck me, do you argue with the television screen when the oscar winners are announced?

Reduces the impact of his intentions? WTF? Are you kidding me?
Reduces? It just puts an exclamation point on his intentions. There is millions of people that have done, or are doing horrible things to them, or someone close to them. The point of Jigsaw is to get them out of the bad habits. Mainly because this society is horrible at suriviving, Jigsaw even has more points to play his games with people. It's great. Great story telling. Awesome writing. Script is unbelievable. They could make 20 of these movies, and never get old. Ever.
