Jonny Fly Responds to Odin Balfore, Others
READING, PA - It's been a busy week for the WCF CEO. As another edition of the Wrestling Championship Federations marquee show, Slam, went off the air Jonny Fly was finally able to pause for a deep breath. His week was nothing short of exhausting.
Fly's week featured everything from behind the scenes contract squabbles, to a series of wrestlers denouncing him, Pantheon, and their collective leadership over the premier wrestling company in the United States. On top of that, Fly defeated a pair of former World Champions in his match on Slam. Fly left the show shortly after it concluded and returned to his home in New York City. It was there that WCF.com was able to catch up with the former three-time World Champion and get his thoughts on all the current happenings in the company.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect this at some point. This is me, though. This is what I do. People tried to warm me of trying to juggle the responsibilities of wrestling and managing the day-to-day operations of this company. On one hand, I'm trying to deal with Steve Orbit and Corey Black, and on the other hand I have to deal with Odin Balfore's insistence of being paid more than our current top stars. It could be exhausting or overwhelming for some, but I'm Jonny Fly. Nothing beats me down."
When asked to comment specifically on Odin Balfore, Fly offered the following comments.
"Look, people think that what I'm doing with Steve Orbit is in direct conflict with the things I said I was going to do when I took over this company. I've explained that it's not. I said I was going to get rid of this entitlement mentality in this place, and make people earn their keep. That's exactly what I am doing. The old boys club is gone, but apparently Odin Balfore didn't get that message. If he wants to look at why our ratings were so low when I took over, tell him to look in the mirror. What he'll see is a wrestler that was trading wins for losses every week, but obsessively yelling to anyone that was still bothering to listen to him that he was god's greatest gift to this industry. He was wrong then, and he still his. That's not entertainment. That's garbage. I don't pay for garbage."
Fly continued, "I'm not saying I'm happy with a 2.8 rating. I'm saying that Pantheon and Jonny Fly have driven increased ratings in 2013. We're seeing a steady rise, and I expect that to continue indefinitely. I don't need Odin Balfore in this company to accomplish what I want to, what I'm going to. If Balfore wants back in it'll be under my terms. That's just the way it is."
Fly declined comment on the messages that Oblivion and Brad Kane had regarding him during Slam, saying that he'll address the two of them if needed when the time comes. He made it clear to us that he's confident in Pantheon's leadership, despite his current relationship with Corey Black, and expects that the group will deal with their current rivals like they have many others in the past 11 months.
