As he was walking out of the Wells Fargo center a young boy ran up to him and handed him a piece of paper. At first he thought the boy wanted his autograph instead he turned around and ran off. Hank opened the folded piece of paper. All that was on it was an address. He hailed a Taxi and gave the slip of paper to the driver. The driver turned white as a ghost as he turned around to face Hank.
Taxi Driver: Are you sure that you want to go to this address? This place has been closed down for years. Don't you know what this place is?
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: No, Not really. I was just handed that slip of paper by a little boy who ran off. I figure someone wants me to go there.
Taxi Driver: That place is the PennHurst Asylum building. It's known as one of the most haunted places in the world! It has a history riddled with accusations of torture, Abuse and Neglect. A history of mental patients being chained to the walls of the dark tunnels that run underneath it. Are you sure you want to go there?
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: Look, I can give a $h!t about what happened there before. I could care even less about the place being haunted. I was given that slip of paper for a reason and I intend to find out what it is. If you wont take me there I'll find someone else that will.
Taxi Driver: I'll take you alright. Lets go.
The Taxi dropped him off outside the front of a huge building.
He could tell immediately by looking at it that this was one scary @$$ place. It looked like there hadn't been anyone there for years. He made his way down the walk and up the steps to the front doors. He was about to ring the bell when the two doors swung open before him. He hesitated for a moment and then walked inside. He jumped as the doors slammed shut behind him. He turned back around as he heard a voice speaking to him.
Dr. Chakajian: Ah, It was nice of you to come and visit our little place. Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Dr. Chakajian. It was I who sent you that note through my messenger. You see, I am not allowed to leave this place. Please follow me.
He pulled a lever near the staircase and watched in amazement as it raised to reveal a door. The Dr. opened the door and Hank followed him along a long narrow hallway. Along the walls he could see old rusty shackles used to confine someone to the wall. He could also see what looked like pools of blood around the area where they were at. He felt a shiver go down his spine as they walked on.
Dr. Chakajian: My office is just up ahead. I hope you aren't the type who is easily scared. This place has a little bit if 'History' behind it. Sometimes you can hear some strange things going on inside these walls.
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: What does all of this have to do with me? Why did you send for me?
Dr. Chakajian: All in due time. You will understand when I show you what is in my office. It's right in here.
The Dr. opened a door in the hallway and stepped inside. Thunder followed him inside. There was a huge desk inside with a big chair behind it and two chairs that sat in front of it. The walls were covered with pictures of people in various stages of torture. There was a huge double window behind the desk that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. A huge spider about the size of a softball hung lazily in one corner watching them. Dr. Chakajian sat behind the desk and motioned for Hank to sit down in one of the chairs. As he did the Dr. began to speak.
Dr. Chakajian: I know who you really are. Or, Who you once were. You see, Night Rider. Your mother was once a patient here. You were young then. Just a mere child. She had a nervous breakdown and was sent here to me through Dr. Zeller in Peoria. It was here where YOU first experienced anything supernatural. Your mother was going through some extreme Electro-Convulsive Shock Therapy for her condition. You walked in on one of those sessions and grabbed her as the electricity was flowing through her body. That was when Night Rider made his first appearance. I have all of the paperwork right here from the proceedings.
He slid a manilla envelope over toward Hank. Hank opened it and looked inside. Along with medical reports there were photos of both himself and his Mother. Then he saw the reports of other worldly events that began happening. Dark shadows that crept along the wall, Voices crying out from an empty room, And other stories about things that went bump in the night. He cried out as he saw a photo of himself with his eyes glowing so brightly that it looked demonic. He replaced the photos and slid the package back over to the Dr.
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: So what do you want with me now? Why bring me all the way out here? Is there some kind of outstanding bill or something that needs to be taken care of?
Dr. Chakajian: No, Nothing like that. I would like to do a series of tests on you to see what effects the events of your past have had on you. It would only take a couple of hours out of your day. I know you are a busy man with your wrestling and all of that. I just think that it could be helpful for future patients.
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: What would these tests consist of? I'm not doing any shock treatment!
Dr. Chakajian: You wouldn't have to. Just some EKG's and other tests of that nature. Nothing serious.
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: Give me a little while to think about it. I do have a lot on my mind right now with this big match coming up at WAR XI. It can't be until after that. I need to be at the top of my game for that.
Dr. Chakajian: Very well, I will be expecting to hear from you then. I think that it can be beneficial for the both of us. It can give you more insight into what happened with your mother and why your dark side was able to emerge the way it did. It may also prevent it from coming out again. You may be in full control right now but that doesn't mean Night Rider can not come back. Get back with me in a few days. I believe you can find your way out.
Hank stood up ant turned to walk out the door. He turned back around to say something else to the Dr. but he was no where to be seen. He turned back to the door and walked out into the hallway. The walls seemed to be pulsating before him. As he walked along he could hear shrieks of terror emanating from them. He made his way back to the front door and was amazed when they opened before him. He stepped out and walked out to the street. He took out his cell phone and called the Taxi cab to take him back to his hotel.
He was about to walk up to his room when he was approached by a man in a shabby grey suit.
Phil Sheridan: Excuse me, Hank 'Thunder' Lane? I am a reporter with the Philadelphia Inquirer and I was wondering if I could have a few moments of your time to ask some questions about your upcoming match?
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: Look, I already did one interview today with our reporter. Can't you use some of that for your story?
Phil Sheridan: It will only take a few moments of your time.
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: What is it with everyone just wanting a moment of my time lately? Okay, Just a few moments.
Phil Sheridan: Thanks, Lets go inside the restaurant here and sit at one of the tables in the back. I have a tape recorder with me here.
Hank followed him inside to a table in the back. They sat down and Hank ordered a large Coffee with double cream and double sugar. The waitress brought them their drinks as the reporter began to speak.
Phil Sheridan: Interview with Hank 'Thunder' Lane take one. Mr. Lane, First let me thank you for your time.
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: It's a pleasure to be here Phil. And please call me Hank.
Phil Sheridan: Alright, Hank. You are going to be a part of the WAR XI match tomorrow night at the Wells Fargo Center. You will be going up against the rest of the WCF roster in a royal rumble type of event. There will be some pretty big names involved in the match including Johnny Stylez and Polar Phantasm. How do you think you will stack up against such great competitors?
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: What do you mean how do I stack up against them? Who am I chopped liver? Shouldn't you be asking them how they stack up against me? Sure, They are top quality athletes but I am a little bit hungrier than they are. That will drive me further to succeed. A lot of the competitors I have already beaten at one time or another. Just as I have lost to some of the others. I know what to expect from them and I know just how to counter their attack. This isn't going to be a wrestling match by any sense of the word. It will be just what it is called, A WAR!
Phil Sheridan: From what we have heard at our offices your peers don't seem to think you will be much of a factor. A lot of them are calling you and some others true underdogs. Your thoughts on that?
Hank 'Thunder' Lane: I could really care less what anyone else thinks because that is their thoughts. I know fully well what I am capable of doing in a match of this caliber. I know how to pace myself and still get the full benefits of my power and agility. I know how to use my larger opponents size against them and let their own momentum carry them out of the ring. I can stand toe to toe with the best of them when I set my mind to it! Let them overlook me if they want to because that will just be one more advantage I have over them. People act like I am some new comer here who doesn't know what he's doing. What a shame that it will lead to their downfall!
Phil Sheridan: Everyone seems to think that Logan, Now Sarah Twilight, And Johnny Reb will have an advantage because they have won this match previously. How do you feel about that?
Hank 'Thunder" Lane: Of course, It helps already being able to win this match in the past. But the key words here are 'in the past'. This isn't then and it's a whole different ballgame now. What it all comes down to is the fact that in the end there will be only one person left standing in that ring and it wont be the drag queen of the year twilight or the ice man Polar Phantasm, Or the southern posse Johnny Reb. It will be myself and you can take that to the bank! I will be the last man standing and I will win the shot to face the World Champion at One! Then my dream of winning a World Title will finally be fulfilled. Nothing is going to stop me and no one will stand in my way. I don't care what the rest of the competitors think or feel. Let them have their wild fantasies. Now if you will excuse me I have better things to do than sit around here with some beat reporter wasting my time. You will find out just like everyone else that I am the best thing going today!
With that being said Hank stood up and walked out of the restaurant. It was time for his power lifting session at a local weight room he found downtown.........
