Coming high off yet another victory, Eric Price should be in the greatest of spirits and simply readying himself for War. Unfortunately, after the end of the 6 man tag match in which his team was victorious, Jeff Purse made his unexpected return and made a huge impact not only on WCF but on Eric Price as he took him to the limit and bruised himself in the process. Blood, sweat, tears all over the ring and on Jeff Purse’s huge truck, he took a daredevil risk and really took it to Eric Price who is not at all happy with what transpired. Both men had to be stretchered from the arena to a local medical facility in Reading, PA as they could not leave under their own power.
Nevertheless, War looms ever closer on the horizon and it could definitely change everything in one night as friends become rivals and everyone puts everything on the line for a prestigious World Title Shot at One; it could define careers as well as shorten them. Eric Price is mentally ready for this contest but currently is recouping in the ER from the assault, in his mind the unprovoked assault by Jeff Purse at Slam.
Day I: Monday 9/24 – 7 AM – St. Joseph’s Medical Center ER in Reading, PA
Scene I: The Bullet Treatment
*The scene starts off pitch black, voices can be heard as if in the distance. Small snippets of white light can be seen but the scene stays black*
Voices: He’s hurt bad! Get him stabilized!
*The voices continue to speak as the scene continues to be pitch black. Then some more voices similar to a WCF Crowd can be heard.*
Crowd: Asshole! You suck! You’re a loser!
*The scene continues pitch black and all of a sudden, a bright white surgical light can be seen, the shot quickly pans over to Eric Price, who is shown on a hospital bed in the ER, by himself in this room. He is laying there with his eyes closed, shirt off as he is bandaged all around his ribs and around his left shoulder, as if in a sling. His head shows scratches and bruises and he has a few a large Band-Aid on his forehead. He is shown with his black pants from the match earlier at Slam. His eyes open and he immediately sits up and looks around, surveying the area.*
Eric: Purse, JEFF PURSE, WHERE IS THAT BASTARD?!
*Eric has this maniacal look on his eyes as two nurses rush in to try and calm him down. They restrain him by the shoulders.*
Nurse: Please, calm down Mr. Price.
Eric: GET OFF OF ME! LET ME GO!
*The nurses try to stabilize him as another larger nurse guard comes in with a sedative ready. As he approaches, Eric realizes what is about to happen and kicks the nurse right in the head and pushes the other two nurses away from him. He then decides to low blow the nurse guard for good measure.*
Eric: Where is that man?! Where is he?!
*Eric steps out of the room and looks around to see if he can locate Jeff Purse. He does not see him in the immediate vicinity. He looks unstable as a cop approaches him to try to calm down. When the cop approaches him, Eric immediately low blows him and the cop is doubled down in pain. As he’s doubled down, Eric punches him in the face and grabs the cop’s gun from his holster. He points the gun directly at the cop’s head.*
Eric: I’m not going to ask again, WHERE THE FUCK IS JEFF PURSE?!
*A nurse from the distance yells*
Nurse: PLEASE DON’T SHOOT! I’LL TELL YOU WHERE HE IS!
*Eric stops pointing the gun at the cop but kicks in right in the skull for good measure and knocks him out. He then quickly strides over to the nurse with a sick look in his eyes.*
Eric: Well, WHERE IS HE?!
*The nurse nervously looks through the records to tell him*
Nurse: He’s in uh… he’s in Bed C.
Eric: Bed C huh? Where is that?
Nurse: The next hallway.
Eric: Good.
*Eric begins walking down toward the next hallway and notices a silencer on the floor. He picks it up and attaches it to the gun he is carrying. He continues walking with a sick smile on his face. He notices two rooms ahead of him and opens the door to the first room, pistol pointed at the people in there.*
Eric: You thought you could hide in here, huh?
*Eric looks at the people and notices Jeff Purse is not in there*
Eric: Oh sorry, wrong room.
*Eric shuts the door and quickly approaches the next room, which has a letter C on it. He laughs a bit and decides to kick the door in. He points his gun immediately into the room and notices Jeff Purse and his girlfriend Kari Kendall there. Purse is lying on the bed with his eyes closed as Kari looks at him but is immediately terrified by Eric Price’s presence with a gun in the room.*
Eric: Well well, what do we have here. If it isn’t the two little lovebirds?
*Eric decides to shut the door and lock it. He quickly grabs a chair in the room and jams the door shut with it.*
Kari: What do you want perv?
Eric: Perv? Is that the way to treat a man with a gun? A man who is in a bad mood and with the right combination could decide to end it all for you?
Kari: What are you doing here Eric?
Eric: Hmm…what am I doing here?
*Eric starts approaching Kari and smells and strokes her hair as she is clearly disgusted by these unwelcome advances but she tolerates it due to the threat of the gun.*
Eric: What I’m doing here is dealing with unfinished business with your fiancé. He decided to for no reason attack me last night.
Kari: He attacked you because you had assaulted me and kissed me without my consent.
Eric: Consent? Wasn’t it you that put yourself up for him? Because you believed in him, because you believed in his ring savvy and ability?
Kari: Well I…
Eric: Exactly. That was all on you Kari, I didn’t want to have to do what I did but you forced my hand. You have to admit to yourself though … you liked it didn’t you?
*Eric approaches Kari right in her face as he winks at her and looks at her right in her eyes*
Eric: You liked it when I touched you, when I stroked you, when I caressed you and when I kissed you, that was a moment of zen for you and you know it!
Kari: You sick, dirty…
Eric: Ah ah ah, remember who’s holding the gun here?
*Eric smiles and points the gun right at Kari’s face as she looks petrified*
Eric: But I’m not here to deal with you Kari, I’m here to deal with your little boyfriend, Jeff Purse. He has stuck his nose in my business for the last time!
*Eric pushes Kari out of the way and aims straight for Purse who is still out of it but Kari immediately jumps on top of him to protect him*
Kari: NO! YOU CAN’T DO THIS! THINK ABOUT IT!
Eric: Think about it?! Think about what, that it will be good to finally rid myself of Purse forever? That he will no longer bother me, taunt me, and try to take away credit from what I’ve accomplished?
Kari: But you’d end up in prison?!
Eric: No I wouldn’t. With the justice system the way it is in this country, a man of my stature, I’ll walk away with maybe 3 to 6 months in jail in a civil suit, a private facility, maybe even house arrest if I pay enough. See, this world is built for people like me Kari.
Kari: You’re a sick bastard you know that?!
Eric: Oh I do know that Kari.
*As Eric seems ever so smug and confident, Jeff Purse starts coming to and notices the sight although he still cannot get up from the injuries he sustained*
Jeff: You truly are pathetic aren’t you Price? You have to resort to bullying and intimidating my fiancé who has nothing to do with this?! What’s wrong with you?!
Eric: What’s wrong with me?! What’s wrong with you?! No matter what I do, no matter how much I beat you up, how many victories I have over you, how much I humiliate you, the people still decide to cheer and respect you but hate me. Why is that?! They should worship the ground I walk on!
Jeff: Maybe, because I’m not a self absorbed, arrogant, egotistical, evil piece of shit … unlike you!
Eric: Kari, get out of the way!
Jeff: What, you’re going to shoot me Price?! We both know you don’t have the balls to do it; hell, we both know you don’t have any balls at all. So go ahead Kari, move and let him do what he thinks he wants to do.
Eric: Hmm…you say I don’t have the balls to shoot you?
*Eric Price looks down for one second with evil intentions as Kari stands by at the side and he immediately takes aim straight for Kari’s chest and fires off two rounds. Eric laughs maniacally after he does this.*
Jeff: You piece of shit. NO! NO! NO!!!!!!! Oh my sweet, NOOOO!!!!!
Eric: Hahahahaha!!! Not so high and mighty now are you?
Jeff: You are the devil incarnate.
*Eric gives an evil smile toward Jeff who is still lying in the bed and can’t get up.*
Eric: Haha, you don’t know the half of it.
Jeff: No wait, please!
*Eric takes aim straight at Jeff Purse’s chest and head and he’s ready to shoot.*
Eric: Goodbye Jeff Purse. I’ll see you in hell!
*Eric takes the shoot and as the bullet leaves the barrel of the gun and heads for Jeff’s chest, the scene immediately turns clear white as the last shot seen is Eric Price’s evil smile. The next scene jumps to the ER in the St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, PA as Eric Price is shown on a bed in the ER area lying down as a nurse tends to his wounds. He starts to wake up, opening his eyes.*
Eric: What happened?
Nurse: You were brought here after that vicious fight you had with Jeff Purse last night. You both were really bruised and beaten.
Eric: Where is Purse?
Nurse: Oh he’s long gone, he was discharged earlier and already left.
Eric: Mmm…damn it!
*Eric tries to get up but is still really bruised*
Nurse: Please Mr. Price, you’re still quite bruised and hurt, please lay down a little bit longer, rest and we’ll give you some pain medication and you’ll be on your way patched up ready to go.
*Eric is shown bandaged up at the ribs through both his shoulders as if they were both in slings. He also has a few Band-Aids in his forehead due to all the bleeding caused by the fight between him and Purse. He decides to lay there and rest some more for now as Purse is gone as the scene fades to black.*
Scene II: Checking Out
*A few hours pass and it is about noon Monday at the ER. Eric Price is shown sitting up now, he has had a dose of morphine and has been given some pain pills. He is now wearing a navy blue shirt that is buttoned and some black slacks and a black sport coat that was brought to him as he had a made a call earlier requesting it. A nurse is doing some checks on him.*
Eric: So, are we done here?
Nurse: Yes sir. I just need to process some of your paperwork here and you’ll be out in a few minutes.
Eric: Excellent, thank you.
*The nurse walks away and he is left sitting on the edge of the bed as he looks at the camera*
Eric: I may be bruised and battered right now but it is because of this that I now know what you intended for me Purse. You wanted me out of the War match. Even if it meant sacrificing yourself, you wanted me out simply so I wouldn’t be in and win it; you couldn’t possibly stand such a moment because if I accomplish that, it will define me as the future and it will make you what I’ve said you are all along, the never was. I would theorize that it was Fly who sent you to do this to make sure I could never ever challenge him because I would most certainly end his era in one night but I don’t see Fly doing this because honestly, in his mind with his overinflated ego, he thinks he is unbeatable and the goal of dethroning him is simply insurmountable.
That’s fine, he can think what he wants, I aim to prove that wrong and by winning War, I will set the stage to do just that. You see Purse, you can’t stop me; that’s like attempting to stop the sun from rising in the morning; I am an immovable force. A little piece of trash like you is not going to stop me from participating in the War match and reaching my full potential. When I started in WCF, I always said that I would aim straight to the top and I have. Thus far, I have been very successful winning titles, matches, and gaining the respect I so deserve from both the WCF public as well as the backstage locker room. Everyone respects me for who I am and what I’ve done. In less than one year, in less than three months to be specific, I went from virtual unknown all the way to the top where the only real obstacle that stands in my way to dominance is Jonny Fly and becoming World Champion.
Since he continually denies my match requests and refuses to face me, then winning the War match is the way to ensure he must face me by force as there’s no getting out of it. And I’m sure it will be Eric Price vs Jonny Fly at One for the World Title because I have no doubt that I will win War and I’m sure Fly will retain his title this Sunday as FPV is a loser and Waylon Cash is a bald loser. For God’s sake Cash you lost to Tek; the only thing that could be worse is losing to Adam Young therefore you obviously stand no chance against a man of the caliber of Jonny Fly. Now some may wonder, why would I praise Jonny Fly? It’s very simple, I’m not going to discredit what is obvious, I will give credit where it’s due and Fly deserves the credit as he has been World Champion and a dominant champion so far this year. Sure, he’s done it only by defending his title once in a blue moon and when he does actually defend it, he defends it against old, decrepit, geriatric, over the hill retirees but nevertheless, he’s managed to retain it against the odds.
With that said, I am finally the man that is going to dethrone him and end what has been called the era of Jonny Fly. And the War match is going to be just that, it’s going to be a war and only the toughest among us will survive. I will do whatever it takes to remain in this match and win! Unfortunately, I don’t know at what spot I will come in but it’s no matter to me because I will take full advantage of that ring and Purse, you will not stop me! Now admittedly, there are no friends in the middle of that squared circle, that’s fact. Despite that there are many stables in there, when it comes right down to it, everyone is in it for himself at the end of the match because there can only be one winner. I assume you can and many of you will lie to yourselves and delude yourselves in the idea that because you’re a stable and you’re like brothers, you will get along out there but you really can’t trust your “brethren” out there; the second they get the shot to do so, they will eliminate you and not look back.
So I am looking quite forward to the War match. Despite the fact that I am in pain now, by the time War rolls around, I will be fine and if I have to fight through the pain, I will. I am looking at this as the precursor to what will become known as the Eric Price era. But I won’t jump ahead and celebrate what has yet to occur, I will simply state that there is no doubt in my mind that I will enter War with one goal in mind, to win. And like I’ve said numerous times before, in life and in business, anytime I set a goal I achieve it and this will be no different. Mark my words WCF, I will win War XI and at One, I will become World Champion; 2013 will be the year of Eric Price!
*The nurse comes back to give Eric his paperwork*
Nurse: There you go sir. Everything is all set Mr. Price.
Eric: What’s this?
Nurse: Prescription for some Vicodin, pain pills to essentially smooth out your recovery. Just make sure you don’t drink it with any alcohol.
Eric: Excuse me, my name is Mr. Eric Price and I do not consume any alcoholic beverages. How dare you make such an assumption? Why, I should…
Nurse: It’s just legally binding protection. We can’t get sued if we tell you not to do it. If we don’t tell you, then we could be in big trouble.
Eric: Oh … well, my point is still clear nevertheless. Will it affect my cognizance?
Nurse: Normally it shouldn’t but give it a shot when you’re home and have time to spare to ensure you don’t experience any side effects.
Eric: What kind of side effects?
Nurse: Nothing out of the ordinary, headaches, vomiting, nausea, stroke, death, the usual suspects.
*Eric looks a bit surprised at these possibilities but the nurse walks over to him to reassure him*
Nurse: Trust me, almost no one experiences anything worse than a little light headedness, nothing more.
Eric: We’ll see about that.
*Eric gets his cell phone out and makes a phone call*
Eric (on the phone): Hey, it’s me. Come pick me up out here at the hospital. We’re going to the Airport. I’m headed back to Los Angeles.
*Eric hangs up his cell phone and walks away as the nurse looks on at him.*
Nurse: What a bastard.
*The scene fades to black*
Scene III: Uncharted Pills
*Arriving back in Los Angeles, Eric Price heads to his house in Malibu. It is now about 9 PM on the West Coast and he is dead tired from the long day and still hurting from the match the prior night. He is shown still wearing the same navy blue shirt from earlier with a black sport coat and pants. He lays back on his bed relaxing.*
Eric: Oy vey, today was a bastard and then some. Oh God do my ribs hurt. I’d better take these pills, hopefully they’ll take the pain away. Tomorrow, I have to do a speech to some business majors about investments.
*Eric pours himself a glass of water and takes 2 pills as recommended. He shakes a bit after he takes them as if he was overcome with shivers.*
Eric: Well, I hope for the best.
*Eric tries to smile but frowns as he is still in pain*
Eric: Damned pills, still not working. Oh well, I should give it time. We’ll see in the morning what happens.
*Eric goes to turn out the lights*
Eric: Should leave the lights on, I’m afraid of the dark.
*Eric shocks himself and is surprised at what he just said*
Eric: I … that’s not true. Hmm…that’s never happened before, oh well, better get some rest, been too long of a day.
*The scene fades to black as Eric lays in bed and goes to sleep*
Day II: Tuesday 9/25 – 12 noon – University of California, Los Angeles Campus
Scene I: The Truth Is Not Always Best
*Eric Price is a guest speaker in an economics class for Business Majors and has been asked to give a small speech on investments and his success in the market. He is sitting to the side of Professor Armstrong who is lecturing on this particular occasion as he awaits his chance to give his speech. He is wearing a black suit with a gold tie and gold colored shirt. As he sits back and listens, he readies himself for his speech. He took his pain pills earlier in the day as he was still hurting. He also still has two Band-Aids on his forehead.*
Professor Armstrong: And now class, we have a special guest speaker with us here today. He is an accomplished investor, at such a young age amassing a fortune that many wish they could in an entire lifetime. He is an entrepreneur, an investor, a celebrity, he is Eric Price!
*Eric gets up as the class gives him a golf style clap and stands up at the podium where the professor was as he steps to the side to allow Eric to speak*
Eric: Thank you very much Professor for ceding your classroom to me for a few minutes today. Now, why am I here today? I’m here to talk to you and earn some extra money!
*The class and the professor look a bit surprised as does Eric at what he just said*
Eric: I … I beg your pardon, that was just a little joke.
*Eric tries to write it off as a joke but internally does not know why those words came out of him*
Eric: I’m actually here today because I desperately am a money hungry despot.
*Eric tries to write this off as a joke as well but doesn’t understand what’s happening*
Eric: Got ya again. Just kidding. Seriously, let’s move on. You’re all here to study economics. Many of you are here because mommy and daddy are giving you a free ride, others of you are here because benefactors such as myself are giving you a free ride through our tax dollars. I …
*Eric looks surprised once again at himself at what he just said as the class and the professor are shocked at what he’s just said.*
Eric: I … I don’t know what’s come over me, I didn’t mean to say that. I just wanted to state that I’m here to speak to you to give you some relief from listening to this old windbag who will never cease to speak.
*Eric decides to run out of the classroom as the professor and the class are shocked and the class begins to boo him. He quickly runs out and shuts the door and starts walking away from the room in the hallway.*
Eric: I … what the hell just happened? I didn’t mean to say that. I mean, it’s what I was thinking but those were internal thoughts, they were not supposed to be expressed. What the hell’s going on?
*Eric continues pondering as he walks through the hallway and the scene fades to black*
Scene II: There’s No News Like Bad News
*Eric Price is shown sitting in his office with his tie off, his gold shirt with two buttons unbuttoned and his sport coat thrown to the side. He is sitting in his large leather chair with a look of frustration over what happened at UCLA and how he feels he humiliated himself publicly. It is now about 6 PM as he is still trying to understand what happened*
Eric: I still don’t get what happened there.
*Eric pours himself a glass of water and takes his pain pills to calm down the rib pain*
Eric: It’s incomprehensible. I would never speak out like that and I certainly know how to control myself so what happened.
*Eric’s desk phone rings. He answers it and puts it on speaker.*
Eric (on the phone): What?!
Damian (on the phone): Mr. Price sir?
*Eric’s assistant Damian is on the phone*
Eric (on the phone): What do you want? I’m not in the mood for anything right now.
Damian (on the phone): I hate to be the bearer of bad news but have you watched any of the news channels or TMZ?
Eric (on the phone): No, why?
Damian (on the phone): I suggest you turn on the TV and watch for yourself. You’re not going to like it.
Eric (on the phone): What the hell? I’ll call you back.
**click* as Eric hangs up his phone*
Eric: What is he talking about?
*Eric turns on the TV and tunes it to Headline News and sees the newsperson announcing one of the top stories of the hour*
News Broadcaster: And now in what is surely a blunder that will be studied by many politicians for years to come on “What not to do”, Eric Price humiliates himself when he was supposed to give a lecture to UCLA Students on how to make good investments but instead, he decided to I guess let them have it and reveal his true thoughts and motives.
*The scene from UCLA plays as it was recorded on a camera phone*
News Broadcaster: This footage comes from a student’s camera phone and has been uploaded to YouTube, Facebook, and has been seen by millions all over the world as a respected investor has tarnished his reputation. Will he able to repair it? In this newsperson’s opinion, no.
*Eric shuts off the TV and throws the remote at the TV leaving a crack in it*
Eric: Piece of shit! This is just what I needed, a public relations nightmare!
*Eric gets up from his chair abruptly and looks outside his window turning his back toward the camera*
Eric: The press is going to have a field day with this and my WCF peers will mock me for this. No no, I can’t let this get to me no, I have to be strong here! I cannot let this distract me from y preparation for War. I almost forgot, this Thursday I have an interview scheduled on “The View”. I can use that to repair some of the damage caused by today. I can simply allege that I was trying to make jokes that fell flat, much like the empty chair fiasco. If I try to brush it off, I think I can repair this situation. Besides, with a respectable source like Barbara Walters corroborating what I say, there’s no doubt the public will buy it!
*Eric gives an evil smile as he turns around back to facing the camera*
Eric: Don’t think I’ve forgotten about War gentlemen. This Sunday, despite it all, I will be victorious because when it comes to this Sunday, when I walk in to the arena, I will have tunnel vision and only one goal in mind, victory. This is my first War event and I will win and then go on to create history and become World Champion. No one believed in me when I started and I don’t expect any support now; but as the strong and intelligent man that I am, I will be able to overcome and win with only my own abilities by my side. Mark my words WCF, I will say it one more time, this Sunday, I will dominate War and when it’s all said and done, the bell will ring and you will hear the words “the winner of the eleventh annual War event is the WCF Television Champion, Mr. Eric Price!”
*Eric grins at the camera as the scene fades to black*
Nevertheless, War looms ever closer on the horizon and it could definitely change everything in one night as friends become rivals and everyone puts everything on the line for a prestigious World Title Shot at One; it could define careers as well as shorten them. Eric Price is mentally ready for this contest but currently is recouping in the ER from the assault, in his mind the unprovoked assault by Jeff Purse at Slam.
