After five solid days, The Lock finally opens. The door opens. The room is empty as what used to be its user walks out into the stairway that leads to the dark, uncontrollable lightning filled room. Angela Striker and Katie Striker stand at the top of the stairs, grinning down on the former user, his bags for Slam packed for an immediate travel. The former user is no longer the same, having been subject to various solitary trials down there. However, he walks up the stairs and stands by them, but before they can talk, he flips out a cell phone and dials a number. His eyes remain closed the whole time, and have been closed since he exited the room.
Somewhere else in the world, wherever she is being kept, Jade Striker opens her pockets and pulls out her all-purpose cell phone/PDA/device. She quiets it quickly and answers, whispering.
JS: Father?
…: Jade. I’ve finished with the room. Any word on Craven?
JS: He sent you a few videos but I couldn’t get them to you, obviously. He’s seen and observed what few videos I’ve sent him. He’s nervous, recognising his voice tones in the videos, but he’s been training. As usual, be careful, father.
…: I’ll have you back in two weeks, Jade. Stay safe.
JS: Father, wait a second. I know this is the first time you’ve had to use the room. I don’t know whether you plan on using it again next week, but tell me something – who are you now? I know you’re likely to take the Fury Crusader’s position again – and that room does dangerous things to the mind.
…: No room is going to take over my mind, Jade, nor is anything from my past. The only way I’m going to win tonight is to remain what I’ve always been – Skyler Striker.
The phone conversation ends.
Jade pockets her PDA and smiles to herself.
JS: Cairo… you don’t know what you’re in for.
Back at the Striker household, three Strikers are reunited. Katie and Angela, who have remained there for the week are finally back with Skyler Striker. Katie grins at her father and Angela nods to her son. Skyler smells the fresh air and opens his eyes outside the room for the first time. He glances around, the red eyes now being the only remnant of the fury crusader left.
SS: Craven won’t know what hit him.
Skyler lifts Katie onto his shoulder and grabs his bags, before turning around to witness one final thunderstorm from the room below. And then Skyler shuts the door to the room. The sound of Katie’s laughter echoes through the house as Skyler locks the door and leaves only an empty set of rooms behind. Because really, that’s all they are. Rooms.
