Jade Striker rushes into the main room of the Striker household, where Skyler is sitting back on a chair watching Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Skyler’s bandages are still on, and Jade has her PDA in hand.
JS: Dad, I got the Opponent Surveillance System… your name came up again. From the person you wanted.
Skyler pauses the video.
SS: You mean…
JS: Yes. Torture.
SS: What did he say?
JS: He was in an interview with Hank Brown. Take a look at the clip.
Jade brings her PDA to her father and shows him the clip.
Hank: Implying your self as the number one wrestler, does that offend Creeping Death, or Skyler Striker at all? Perhaps others?
Torture: No, Hank. Creeping Death has proved time and time again, he is one of the measuring sticks in this company. Does that mean he's better than me? Does that mean I'm better than him? No. Am I better than Skyler? Well, I'll say this.. You were World Champion when Logan, Torture, and Reckless Jack were gone. That doesn't mean you're the best, it means you were in the right place at the oh-so wrong time.
Jade shuts her PDA down and Skyler grins.
SS: Got the camera?
JS: Of course.
Jade flicks a switch on the TV and it goes into record mode, one of a few custom-made and planted cameras around the house designed for this very purpose.
SS: Torture. How’s it going! Good to see you back, we missed you for a while. The only WCF World Champion I ever knew in my first days of the WCF almost one year ago. You know, I just watched your little spiel from your interview with Hank Brown. First, don’t underestimate Mike Ragnal. He is one persistent little SOB. He pursued Cairo for months just to get what he wanted, and he’s not likely to give it up easily. Especially with Index Three at his back. Speaking of…
Skyler pauses for a moment and shakes his head.
SS: Speaking of Index Three, I’ll say this. Torture, I had a lot of respect for you back in my early days. Even when you left I still thought you were brilliant. But pushing into MY business, and Index Three’s business with Creeping Death… the New Dynasty is dead. You turned on him, as far as I can remember. You had nothing to do with that match and you even managed to take me down by surprise. But we won anyway. So I guess that leaves me with the last issue, which is me being in the right place at the wrong time.
Skyler pauses again and his glare fires red.
SS: First off, you’re wrong about Logan. He WAS here when I defeated Blades. In fact, I seem to remember eliminating him from the battle royal which decided who would FACE Blades! Funny, that. I’ve never faced the man in the ring, Torture, but I sure outshone him that day. No, it wasn’t his golden age, but if he wants to step in the ring, I’m ready. Reckless Jack I’ve had my share of encounters with. I’ve beaten him before, too. Not here, but another meeting somewhere else. And you can’t say he wasn’t in his prime. Reckless is ALWAYS at full speed. And as for YOU, Torture… You weren’t here. Blades was here. I beat him. TWICE. I took his Hardcore Title and his World Title within the space of half a year. Bet you can’t say that you’ve done that. Not many people can say they’ve beaten Blades at all. I suppose you can, of course, but if we’ve both proved that we’re better than him…
And Skyler looks directly into the camera, red eyes glazing with passion.
SS: Then if you want to put your money where your mouth is, Torture, and if you want to put your legacy at stake, you can come into the ring and say that to my face. Last year was your time, Torture. This year belongs to me. You’ve fought Creeping Death before, sure, and beaten him. I’ve done the same, and he got the best of me in that Chamber. The physical evidence is stopping a lot of my movement even now. But I guarantee you, Torture, that I will be WCF World Champion for a second time before this year is over.
Skyler lays back, looking somewhere else for a second.
SS: But hey, Torture, my offer stands. If you want to prove that you’re right, then show me. You can be back, you can be the best… but I’m Skyler goddamn Striker. And nothing you have is going to outlast that fact. See you around, Torture.
