"The reason I come into companies and earn my title shots is because I have no name value to do these things for me."
With that said, viewers are provided with visual feed. As a few weeks ago, Nathan von Liebert is sitting in the empty ring, several hours before the pay-per-view. His attire is the usual mix of trash, consisting of a Three Days Grace shirt with red stains, jean shorts, and worn converse shoes. He watches the camera, brown eyes cold.
"I am no Torture. My middle name is not Logan. Before arriving in WCF, I didn't know how to spell Cairo. And I have not held the world championship five times like Creeping Death. I will admit that some time ago you people were doing the same things I'm doing now. But that is in the past, and this is the present. Corey Black is a name people cheer for. Nathan von Liebert is not. But I don't want cheers. Just gold.
Corey, I don't hate you. Why would I hate you? It isn't like you've beaten me in this ring before. Sure Vlad despises you; He hates anybody that he comes out to see. And I might be like everyone else. I might just dislike the veterans of this sports. But I don't hate you personally. Many others will hate you people because they will never compare to the Odin Balfores and D-Days. But why should I hate you people? I've already proven I can beat you veterans. In fact, the only person who can beat me in WCF is Jonny Fly.
No my dislike for veterans come from the companies as a whole. Face the facts; I am better than 95% of the people in this company. But because the Gravediggers and the Doc Henry's are still around, people like me have trouble earning a name for myself. And it isn't just WCF where it happens. In ACW I was red hot, beating a former United States championin the main event. And where do you think I was at the next week? Opening against Jeff Purse.
Corey, I don't hate you. I just hate what you are."
Nathan pauses, looking around at the empty seats of the arena.
"What is so prestigious about being in XIII? I mean you host it, you choose yourself as one of the captains. I think prestigious would be Odin choosing me over everyone else to be on his team. Being chosen over everyone else in the company. And you, I honestly think the outcome would've been different. Why? Because I am no Joel Hall, who can only win against Odin when he no-shows. I am no Gravedigger, who had to grope Seth Lerch to have the title handed to him. And I am no Odin Balfore because I can say I've beaten you. Not by the means of which I'd like to boast about. But on paper, I beat you. And I didn't have to host my own damn show for it to happen too."
Nathan smirks, almost a smile on his pale face.
"But because D-Day beat you in a match that you just say was planned beforehand, you think he deserves a title shot? Looking at that ladder ranking, it seems atleast thirty five other people deserve a title match against you, unless several of your losses were by the same person. Then that means some people deserve more than one shot at me.
If title shots were like that, do you know how many people in the world deserves a match against me? Three. Three people in the entire world can say they've beaten men, two of them are in this company. But you know I've already redeemed myself by beating one of those men three times already in my career. And you can't even break even with your win and loss records. So consider that another reason I dislike veterans. You loss as often as you win, yet you seem to think your better than people who have only been in the business since about July of 2011."
Nathan pauses.
"But why are you worried? Even when you're hit with title belts and put through tables, people still want to see you. Even when you take beatings by rookies, people love you. Or they love to see you get beat. Why would they be eager to see me get hurt? It seems every week, I take a beating, and I still win. They have realized that even when I'm getting knocked around, I still win in the end. But you, the mighty veteran with ten years of experience against my seven months, is getting beat, they really enjoy it. They still believe that you're going to win, but they do enjoy a good fight.
There is not doubt that our match at Payback will be anything below excellent. Although I do feel bad that some people about it. Not because it sucked. But because you're going to lose. And not against D-Day. But against NvL."
Another pause.
"But I just don't understand this. You tell me that I'm good because I earned my shots. And then you wish for a decent opponent instead of fighting an emo kid. I just don't understand that. Why contradict your own words? And why ruin yourself by saying stupid things like that? If. . .When I beat you, you weren't beat by the fastest rising rookie in the company, but a emo kid. Instead of anyone good, you got beat by a weakling. How does that look to the crowds?
Regardless, you said one good thing. You the smart person that doesn't want to see Vlad. Many idiots find it fun to see what exactly he can do, but you don't want to. And I respect you for that. Vlad is more than just blood and gore. He also is involved in lawsuits, family hatred, and inner turmoil. But just because you don't want it to happen doesn't mean I can stop it. Most of the time, I have Vlad under lock. But when one of our blood starts flowing, I am powerless. And when Vlad comes out, you'd wish that Creeping Death comes out too. Because Corey Black will not stand up against Vlad."
Nathan gestures with both hands to the ring around him.
"You asked this of me so I shall ask it for you; show up ready to fight. This is no end to a blood fued. This is no match against bitter rivals. This is a match where two skilled competitors will meet and give one hell of a match.
But I hope for you to understand this before we fight in that ring. I've already proven to the brass that I will be a star in WCF. I might already be one. Your match will just prove that I'm much better than just another a star. I'm World Championship material.
I won't say you don't deserve the title around your waist; you beat a man very skilled in the ring. Of course Jay Price attacked Odin and helped you win, but you've proven that you can hold the title. I mean you've held it five times. But that also means you've lost it four times. So no, I don't consider you "old and useless." To me, 'you're just not good enough'
And maybe after this week, after beating you one on one, I won't need to have the belt to prove I'm the best in this company. But I feel the WCF universe deserves to witness a true champion. So I shall provide them just that.
But what do I fight for? I fight to prove to everyone that the number of years you've been in this company doesn't mean you're the best. When I win on Sunday, I would still have about six more months before my first full year in the business. I have no tens year worth of matches to look back and bask in. All that I've done in a limited amount of time. And this means I still have nine more years worth of wrestling to match you. You think I have enough time to do so?"
Nathan walks over and grabs the top rope.
"Inside this ring will be where the conclusion of Revelations will be documented. Be glad that you will be included in this history making experience. Because I'm not sure if you'll ever make anymore."
The scene fades out.
