As the scene opens we find Night Rider working out in the gym with the free weights. He checks the weights on the bar to make sure they are stable. 450 lbs may sound like a lot to some people but it was not his limit. He needed to get a few reps in to ease some of the tension that had been building up in him. He lays down on the bench and positions himself just right. Gripping the bar, He lifts them off of the stand and brings them up over his chest. He brings them down slowly and then lifts them back up. He does this repeatedly. Each time saying the name of one of his opponents. One for Corey Broken, As Odin so perfectly put it. Two, For FPV, The Freakin' Paranoid Vegetable. Three for Oblivion and so on. Over and over until he had finally had enough. He placed the weights back on the bar and lay there for moment, His thoughts racing. So much had happened since he joined the WCF it felt like his head was spinning from all of the excitement. He felt good, Better than he had in a long time! He knew that they would be in for one hell of a match at Slam. He was ready and he knew that his partner, Jeff Purse would be ready. he only hoped that Nathan Von Liebert would be ready and that they would be able to all three put their differences aside to be able to come out on top. He also knew that it would take everything he had in him to keep from wanting to bash NvL to pieces. He could do it though, Their being victorious may count on that fact.
He stood up to wipe down the bar and the bench from his sweat as he noticed another person coming into the weight room. He was a big man, Not as big as Night Rider but close. He had on a WCF Sweatshirt with Corey Blacks' image on it.
Guy: You about done in here? You have had this room to yourself for the past hour. Let someone else have some time, Dude!
Night Rider didn't know what made him do it. Maybe it was the way the guy looked at him or maybe it was the tone in his voice. Maybe it was just the stupid sweatshirt. Either way, Night Rider didn't like him. He grabbed the guy from the front of his sweat shirt and threw him over to the weight bench. He ripped the sweatshirt off of him and threw it to the ground. He was about to really tear into him when he heard a voice calling out for him to stop. It was Jeff Purse.
Jeff Purse: Come on man, You'll just mess up the weight room like that. Let the guy go, Our problem isn't with him.
Night Rider looked at Purse and then at the guy, Who had a terrified look on his face. He backed off and walked out the door of the Bench press room behind Purse. But not before grabbing the sweatshirt off the floor and taking it with him.
Night Rider: Your right man. I guess I'm just pretty wired up. I get crazy sometimes and just snap at the littlest thing. This stupid sweatshirt. How did you know I was here?
Jeff Purse: Angel Fyre told me you would be here doing your regular routine. I wanted to get with you about our match at Slam. I know that we HAVE to team with NvL and I'm not happy about it at all. I guarantee you that if he makes a wrong move and steps out of line I can't promise that I will be able to control myself. I don't like the guy and I don't trust him one bit!
Night Rider: Yeah, I know what you mean. Still though, As long as he does his part we should have no problem. I think he is more worried about going up against CD anyway so that should be no problem. I will be keeping my eye on him also. My main concern though is going out there and taking care of business like you and I both know we can do. Sure, These guys are good but I think we can take them! Or, Let me put it this way, I KNOW we can take them!
Jeff Purse: Yeah, I hear you there. One thing though. How do we know NvL isn't going to run out on us during the match and leave us hanging if the going gets rough?
Night Rider: I don't really think NvL would do that. No matter how much we dislike each other! If he does then we will just have to do what we have to do and go it on our own. No matter what, WE are going to come out on top in this match! Something else on your mind?
Jeff Purse: Not really, Hank Brown did get in touch with me earlier also and asked about doing an interview with us later this afternoon. What do you think?
Night Rider: I think that sounds like a good ideal. I have some things I want to get off of my chest anyway. Make it about 4pm. I am going to go for a swim and get cleaned up first. Care for a swim?
Jeff Purse: No, Not really. I have some things to take care of first also. See you around four then.
Jeff Purse left and Night Rider headed down to the Olympic sized swimming pool on the lower level. A good swim would loosen his tightened muscles and help with his stamina. He would need every advantage he could get.
[glow=red,2,300]Later that day[/glow]
Night Rider and Jeff Purse walked into the interview area where Hank Brown was waiting for them. They were both dressed in their usual ring attire along with the World Tag Team Championship belts thrown over their shoulders.
Hank Brown: Well, It looks like the Champions are here now. Welcome Jeff Purse and Night Rider. First off, Let me congratulate you both on a well deserved victory. However, You don't have long to celebrate with your big match coming up at Slam. Your thoughts on that.
Jeff Purse: I'll tell you what. We went out there and did exactly what we said we were going to do! They say to be the best you have to beat the best, Well Speede and FPV were the last ones to hold these belts so they must have been the best. Now it's our turn and we plan on hanging on to these belts for a long time!
Night Rider: As far as our upcoming match at Slam. All I can say it you wouldn't want to take a break about the time it starts because it is going to be one wild and crazy evening!
Hank Brown: The two of you seem to be pretty hyped about this match. How do you feel about having to team with Nathan Von Liebert?
Jeff Purse: That's right we are hyped up over this match! Why shouldn't we be? We get a chance to step into the ring and go toe to toe with some of the best that WCF has to offer! That in itself is enough to get anyone hyped! As far as NvL goes, As long as he does his part and takes care of business it's good. I can't say about after the match is over though. I can't promise that I won't get right in his face and let him know exactly how I feel about him!
Hank Brown: How do you feel about your opponents, Corey 'CD' Black, FPV, and Oblivion?
Night Rider: Let me start with Corey Broken, This guy took one hell of a beating at the hands of Odin despite winning the title. If it hadn't been for outside forces getting involved I really don't think the guy would have been able to pull it off. He is at best a paper champion. Only holding on to the gold until his first title defense. Don't be surprised if NvL comes out on top against him. Look at the guy, He looks like something out of a Dean Koontz Odd Thomas Novel. He's about as untalented as a grapefruit. And I think a Grapefruit has more sense. The guy takes too many risks that put himself in jeopardy. A body can only take so much damage before it starts breaking down. I bet the guy isn't even a hundred percent right now. I plan on using my power and quickness to keep him off his game and take the fight to him! I mean, Come on! It was just in September of last year the guy was leaving WCF because he had a job elsewhere. He refused to do things Seths way! Sounds like a big crybaby to me, And He's the WCF World Champion now? Hmmm........
Hank Brown: Those are some pretty strong words about the World Champion!
Night Rider: Yes they are, And I can back them up too! Now on to Oblivion. I've done a little bit of research on him and I know he is one tough character. He has done a lot here in WCF. A lot of whining, A lot of Trash talking, And a lot of running period! Sure, here is another former world champion, Former Hardcore, Television, US, And Tag Team Champion. But do you know what that means to us? NOT A DAMN THING! Notice it all says former, Which means that he lost those belts also! He's just another loser trying to regain his former glory! You know what Oblivion, It's not going to happen against us! Mess around with me and I will send you on a one way trip back into Oblivion where you belong!
Hank Brown: Okay, How about FPV?
Night Rider: You mean the Freaking Paranoid Vegetable? Come on, This guy couldn't get the job done with Speede so he had to go out and find someone else to try and do his dirty work. I guess sometimes it's just too hard to admit when you have had enough! Maybe after we kick his sorry @$$ around that ring a few times more the guy will get the message! His Glory days are OVER! There is a new breed of wrestlers coming in and taking over and he can't stand it. Especially when he knows deep down inside that there is nothing he is going to be able to do to stop it! Not at Slam, Not EVER! He's a 'Used to be' His glory days from now on will consist of sitting on his front porch in his rocker telling his Grandkids how great he was!
Jeff Purse: One problem with that. In order for him to have grandkids the guy has to be able to have children and I don't see any woman in her right mind willing to procreate with him!
Night Rider: I guess your right there Jeff. He'll just have to talk to the dust bunnies gathering under his feet!
Hank Brown: Okay, Okay. That just about wraps things up, Any final thoughts?
Night Rider: I think that will just about do it on our part for now. Lets see what the losers have to say. I'm sure they will be out here running their mouths about how we are all this and that and about how wrong we are and how they are going to beat us. The same old crap they have been bringing their whole careers! Only now, It's going to feel funny when it backfires on them. Again! See you in the ring suckers!
Night Rider and Jeff Purse head out of the interview area and make their way outside. It is still a beautiful day out with a bright sun hanging above the horizon. A gentle warm breeze blowing just enough to make it almost picture perfect.
Night Rider: hey, I'm going to go and have a drink or two. Give me a call later if you feel like doing anything.
Jeff Purse: Will do that man. I have a few loose ends to tie up and then I might have one or two myself. Later man.
With that the two go their separate ways.
