She thinks the mention of my name gets her blood boiling, does she? Well it shouldn’t be a surprise that she’s not the only one that gets a fire lit inside her with the mere mention of the name of someone else. I still feel the chills run up and down my spine whenever I hear about Kaylyn James Evans. The mere mention of her sends a spark coursing through my brain, and I become overwhelmed with a new and more powerful desire than anything I’ve felt before. Every fiber of my being becomes empowered to do something in regards to her and in regards the way she runs rough shot over the entire locker room.
Scene One: Reunited
Roy Speede is sitting on the couch in his locker room, playing a game of solitaire with a deck of cards that all have a corner cut out; all of them have the same top right corner cut out of them. He’s wearing a pair of jeans and a collared plaid shirt. He pretty much ignores the camera, sitting there playing his game, and about a minute passes before the sound of a door opening and then closing echoes through an otherwise complete silence. The sound of high heels hitting against the wooden floor rings out with each step the visitor makes, and behind Roy appears Abbie Grande wearing a pair of blue jeans and a black and gray sweater. She walks right up to back of the couch, and places his arms around Roy’s shoulders as she pulls him back into the seat. She kisses him on the cheek.
Abbie Grande: ”Hey Roy, glad I found the right room. What have you been to doing since we last talked? I thought you were going to call me.”
Roy Speede: ”I thought I was too, but I got really busy with the company and stuff. What’re you doing here?”
Abbie Grande: ”Well, I heard you were getting into another scrap with Kaylyn, so I called up Seth, and asked him to give me a contract as your manager; he’s going to need to talk to you to get your contract changed, but I figured that I should keep an eye on someone I consider very near and dear to me.”
Roy Speede: ”Abbie, please tell me you’re joking. This is about getting back together, isn’t it? I already told you, I’m not in a position to give you the attention you’d need and compete in the Wrestling Championship Federation at the same time. If you want me back, the answer is no.”
She releases him from the hug, and walks around to sit beside him on the couch.
Abbie Grande: ”Come on, Roy. You should know me better than that. We’re friends, and I don’t expect us to get back together. I still want to help to protect one of my best friends.”
Roy Speede: ”Okay, fine, you can be my competitive manager, but if you try to seduce me into anything, we’re through. I’ll go talk to Lerch later, though.”
Abbie Grande: ”Why, what have you got planned in the mean time?”
Roy Speede: ”Well, we never did get that chance to catch up, and aside from that I’ve still got some work to do to put a game plan together for One and for Kaylyn.”
Abbie Grande: ”So you want to spend some time sitting and talking?”
Roy Speede: ”Well, that is unless you don’t want to. If that’s the case, I can get to work and we can chat later.”
Abbie Grande: ”Well I don’t feel much like talking a lot, but...”
Roy Speede: ”What?”
Abbie Grande: ”Does the TV still have movies on demand?”
Roy Speede: ”A movie? Really?”
Abbie Grande: ”Well, yeah! I still haven’t seen that new one starring Emily Browning that came out on demand a while ago.”
Roy Speede: ”Oh, Sucker Punch? I haven’t seen it either, and I’ve wanted to, but I’ve gotta make sure I’m ready for One.”
Abbie Grande: ”Come on, Roy, you know you can beat Kaylyn if you try.”
Roy Speede: ”It isn’t about wanting to win, this time, Abbie. Ashley wants me to make sure Miss Evans learns her lesson on dignity, manners, and appropriate attire. I’ve gotta be prepared to send a certain young lady home happy, whether the other of them gets pissed or not.”
Abbie Grande: ”Oh don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll do fine. Let’s just watch the movie and worry about that later.”
Roy Speede: ”Oh, alright, but no kissing.”
Abbie giggles, and Roy gets up, going toward the door. He turns the lights out in the room while Abbie grabs the remote and turns on the TV, and Roy returns to the couch. He sits down beside her, and she curls up beside him. He places his arm around her shoulders, and smiles can be seen on their faces as the scene starts to fade with the music in the opening scene of Sucker Punch.
Scene Two: Post-Signing
The scene returns some time later, just as Roy Speede is stepping out of a room into the halls of the WCF building. He’s shaking his head, and has a sort of smirk on his face.
Roy Speede: ”That Seth sure does drive a hard bargain. Why in the world would I have to sign a contract saying I’m responsible for her actions while she’s managing me? I mean, isn’t she supposed to have signed a contract claiming liability for her own actions? Geez...”
He continues on his rant as he walks down the hall, not even looking where he’s going, when he bumps into the back of someone.
Roy Speede: ”Whoops, sorry about that... Oh hey, Donald Deruty, what’s going on, bro?”
Donald Deruty: ”Ohh hey! Don’t worry about it man, no harm done. Not much is happening, just working to be ready for my match. What about yourself?”
Roy Speede: ”Not too much, not too much, just trying to deal with a clash of situations is all. You heard the kind of crap Seth’s been up to lately? Apparently since my ex came back to WCF to manage me, I’m responsible for her actions around here... You’re facing Adrian as part of that tournament, right? How goes the preparation for going up against Gravedigger’s henchman?”
Donald Deruty: ”Ohh, you know the usual training for any match. Nothing too special. I just can’t wait to kick his head in.”
Roy Speede: ”Oh, no doubt about it. His buddy Gravedigger was a pain in the ass for me a while back, so no doubt Adrian’s just the same if he’s being trained by the so-called ‘Epitome of Hardcore’... Hey! Wait a minute, aren’t you dating Ashley, Kaylyn’s manager?”
Donald Deruty: ”Yep.”
Roy Speede: ”How’s that working out? I thought she was way too innocent for dating or relationships or... stuff like that?”
Donald Deruty: “I don’t know exactly what you are asking me...”
Roy Speede: ”I mean, have you actually done anything besides holding hands yet, or is she really the innocent one she tries to look like on camera?”
Donald Deruty: ”She is just who she is. There really isnt anything else to say about it. But I think that this stuff is getting a little personal, don’t you think Roy?”
Roy Speede: ”Maybe a little bit, but you do see where I’m going with this, right? Ashley and Kay have known each other for some time now, so they may not be that different. Hell, they could even be related for all I know, but what I’m saying is, Ashley is supposed to be innocent, right? Well If she has a breaking point, maybe Kaylyn actually does have a breaking point on her attitude... Just searching for a piece to the puzzle is all, my friend.”
Roy laughs.
Roy Speede: ”But you know what I’m really wondering? What the heck’s been wrong with you lately? You’ve been losing so much, I’m surprised it hasn’t become a new fad with the size of the fan base you got.”
Donald Deruty ”I don't think that they are anything alike considering the totally different personalities of the two. If I know Kaylyn like I think, I don’t think you can get to her Roy. As well, I don’t know what has been happening to be. I guess I have just been exhausted from training from the matches too much that I don’t have anytime to replenish. I am looking to turn everything around at One. I can guarantee you that I will be winning more and more matches. I can promise you that!”
Roy Speede: ”Good point, but who knows? But as a heads up, I do know that one of them won’t be happy come One, though. But you’d better start winning again, you hear me? I’m gonna hold you to that promise. Anyway, I’ll catch you later, bro. I gotta go take care of some stuff. Good luck in the tournament, bro!”
Donald Deruty: ”Later.”
Roy continues on down the hall to his locker room, and opens it; inside, Abbie is waiting for him.
Abbie Grande: ”There you are! You had me worried sick! What kept you?”
Roy Speede: ”I stopped to talk to another wrestler. Is that a problem?”
Abbie Grande: ”No, but I was just thinking that maybe we could, I dunno, get some dinner?”
Roy Speede: ”I already said no to going on a date! What part of it don’t you understand?”
Abbie Grande: ”No, no, not a date. I mean like as a planning meeting to get things squared away on me being your manager as far as how things will go. I noticed you changed your theme song and stuff, so we’ll have to figure out entrances and stuff.”
Roy Speede: ”Don’t worry about that. You’ll know what to do when the time comes.”
Abbie Grande: ”I know, but I’m still kinda hungry. Is there a Taco Bell near here at least?”
Roy Speede: ”Yeah, there’s one a couple blocks over. Want me to pick up something to eat and bring it back here for us?”
Abbie Grande: ”Sounds lovely.”
Roy Speede: ”Okay, I’ll be back in a flash. And yes, I do remember your favorites.”
Roy closes the door to his locker room and Abbie walks back over to the couch as Roy walks off toward the back exit.
Roy Speede: ”What the fuck did I get myself into this time?”
The scene fades to black as Roy walks through the back doors of the building.
