The scene opens to the innards of a very fancy Italian restaurant. The walls are alive as ivy and grape vines and lots of vibrant green leaves protrude from the ceiling and walls and a rich grape scent fills the air. The walls have shelves of wine bottles, not a speck of dust on a one of them, both red wines and white. The camera pans across the restaurant to show an incredibly lively atmosphere in the rather dimly lit room. A couple not older than their teens is out on what is presumably a date, and don’t take their eyes off one another as they eat their meal. A round table seating five people is making a racket, and the trio of men and both women all have red wines in front of them on the table or in their hands, and a lot of laughter can be heard.
The camera comes to a stop as it focuses on two girls at a table against the wall; one is Hope Dudley, and the other looks rather similar to her, perhaps a couple years younger, but they are definitely related, that much is clear. Hope sips from a glass of red wine, and the other girl has a dark, fizzy liquid in a cup with ice and a straw, leading one to assume it is some sort of soda. There is a salad bowl and plates between them as well as a basket of breadsticks, of which the other girl beside Hope takes one as Hope begins to speak.
Hope Dudley: “So anyway, Grace, you’re saying he just went and cheated on you like that?”
The girl across from Hope, apparently named Grace, sets her cup down to reply.
Grace Dudley: “Yeah, and I didn’t even do anything... gosh, my life is so confusing.”
Hope Dudley: “Don’t worry about it, sis, Keith’s a jerk, and Lexi’s just a whore. They’re perfect for each other, the scum of the earth in tandem with one another. You’ll find someone ten times better than him, someone who won’t treat you like a possession. I’m sure of it.”
Grace Dudley: “Thanks, Hope, I appreciate the reassurance... So anyway, what about Matt? He seems sweet when he’s around me. Is he as nice when you two are alone?”
Hope Dudley: “Oh you couldn’t imagine. It’s great; so not like Gavin at all. He makes me feel like I matter, you know what I mean? He makes me feel like I’m the only one who is ever on his mind every time I see him. He’s one of the good ones, definitely.”
Grace Dudley: “Oh, really? Wait, doesn’t Matt have a brother?”
Hope Dudley: “You mean Nick? Yeah, Nick is Matt’s younger brother, but I wouldn’t recommend it; Nick is so immature, and he seems like a self-centered little brat a lot of the time. I wouldn’t even try dating him, Gracie, you’re too good for him. It’d be like Keith all over again.”
Grace Dudley: “If you say so, I wouldn’t want that. I need to find a guy like Matt. Maybe give it a few years, then?”
Hope Dudley: “Yeah, but I wouldn’t count out finding another guy who’s nice to you before then. You know, there’s this guy that works over at Abercrombie, and he’s really hot. I bet I could talk to him for you sis.”
Grace Dudley: “Really? Thanks Hope, I owe you one.”
A waiter comes to the table carrying two plates of steaming hot pasta dishes. One has the appearance of lasagna, and is placed in front of Hope; the other is some sort of ravioli, and is set before Grace before the waiter silently nods and steps out of the scene. Hope watches him walk away a moment, and then leans over to whisper something to Grace as Grace starts into her meal.
Hope Dudley: “Grace, what about the waiter? I mean come on did you see him? Really, he’s cute, why don’t you talk to him or something?”
Grace Dudley: “What? Are you serious? Hope...”
Hope Dudley: “Yes, I’m serious. You should totally do it.”
Grace Dudley: “Okay, fine, if you insist. You’re right, he is kinda handsome, but I’ll wait until after we eat.”
Hope responds with a silent nod as the girls tap the tips of their forks together, sort of a toast of sorts with the shiny silverware. It doesn’t take long at all for them to eat either, and they both finish about the same time. Hope goes searching for something before standing up.
Hope Dudley: “Oh, shoot, I forgot my purse in the car. I’ll be right back, okay? Good luck with Emilio.”
Grace Dudley: “Thanks Hope. I’ll be right here.”
Hope starts walking, and the camera follows her out the front of the building, before cutting to another camera back pedaling as the shot focuses on her face. As she walks, she talks.
Hope Dudley: “Hello again, WCF. You remember me, don’t you? I’m Hope Dudley, the one that cost Vic his match this debut against Kamikaze, Kaylyn James Evans, and Casper Blackhart. Now, I know what you’re thinking; you’re thinking I’m just a rookie, and I shouldn’t have done what I did to Vic without any good reason, but let me explain to you something. The man known as Vic... What is known for? What has he done? He didn’t do anything, but it’s simply that he doubts the role of women in the wrestling business. Kaylyn James Evans, a two time former Television Champion, was present in the match making her big return. She’s one of the best wrestlers in the world, and she’s a female, and yet Vic is still the low, sickening type of person who would think that women can’t compete at a level like men do. Remember Ultimate Showdown? Kaylyn came in third, besting the likes of Roy Speede, Oblivion, and even the great Jay Price. She was seconds away from holding the United States Title, or even the World Championship, too.
If Kaylyn isn’t the living and true definition of a great wrestler, I don’t know who is. And it’s my goal to become a better wrestler than she is. But in order to do that, I have to make my presence felt, and Vic, you just so happened to be one of those that degrades and downs women in this business for your own pleasure. Big mistake, my friend. Big mistake. I’m going to make you pay for that kind of thing, just like I made you lose last week. This time won’t be any different. See, I broke any hopes you had last week, and this week I’ll leave your hopes broken again. I’m Hope Dudley, and you, buddy, are Hopeless.”
She unlocks a white Escalade and gets into the driver’s seat. A moment later, she steps back out of the vehicle with a black leather purse in hand, and locks the car. She proceeds back toward the door of the restaurant as the scene fades to black.
