John Rabid // Jason Rush
The Serpent // The Ripper.
John Rabid is your quintessential English scoundrel. An immaculate, twenty-something cad with a penchant for callous behavior and elaborate machinations. “The Ripper”, also happens to be a family man, raising his eight year old son, Dorian with his former fashion model wife, Emily. A high flying entrepreneur and head of a ruthless acquisitions company named “Imperial”, Rabid is a charming deceiver and connoisseur of tasteful fare, funding his elaborate whims through hostile takeovers and liquidations, pumping the generated revenue back into his own ambitious career. Hoarding a collection of vintage cars and esoteric art; John's accent is tinged with a refined slice of Eton College breeding, confirming his status as an effete snob of the highest order. A sinister force out to consume the wrestling world from within, Rabid goes to great lengths to hide his trump card from the general public, a dark and malevolent advantage that Rabid conceals with absolute authority.
Recently, Rabid has enjoyed a newfound connection with the public as his record smashing Television title run garners him new fans. He’s fastly becoming an unlikely internet darling, the benchmark for a new fan-base eager to embrace a villain as a hero in a world that has few champions to call it’s own. Rabid hasn’t changed one iota, but the people have; desperate to find themselves somebody, anybody, that can rise up and stand for them. Now at a crossroads, Rabid has to make a career defining choice. Does he reject or embrace this new reality, and what will he do with it?
Height // weight:
6'2", 226 lbs.
Appearance // Attire:
John Rabid has a chiseled, muscular build. His long blonde and black locks, obviously dyed, flow down his six foot two frame. His right hand and wrist are wrapped with back tape, while his left are tapped white; the birth date of his son written is upon the white tape in black ink. John wears silver and black PVC wrestling tights; the word “Rabid” written across the left thigh in royal purple and black while the right thigh has the same word written in Japanese. John has black knee pads and kick pads and boots. The kick-pads have a black and purple rendition of the union jack flag presented in a punk, spray painted style.
While strutting to the ring, John has a black trench-coat with “The Ripper” written across the back in purple and black. Often he wears a set of silver and black aviator shades to complement his goth wasteland look while flicking a toothpick at the camera, hey Chico!
Entrance // Music:
“Death Breath - Toxic Avenger Remix” by Bring Me The Horizon hits as a huge pyrotechnic barrage explodes around the jumbotron. As the smoke clears, we see John Rabid standing tall; arms outstretched as he spins on the spot. Rabid struts down the ramp, snarling and gnashing his teeth at a stray cameraman as John's name appears on a Slam graphic. Meanwhile, Rabid's 'tron plays in the background; it's The Ripper hitting the Kingdom Destroyer on a cavalcade of doomed jobbers, this scene is intercut with footage of Lon Chaney in Tod Browning's "London After Midnight" (1927). Rabid reaches the ramp and climbs the turnbuckle, “smelling” the cheer's from the crowd before taking off his black trench-coat and shades and waving his hapless opponent on with a cocky smirk on his face.
John works a Japanese strong style of kicks and knees intermixed with European sensibilities to create a unique technical spine running through his attacks. Due to his rich well of influences, The Ripper has proved time and again to be elusive in the ring, able to counter and circumvent most assaults. John is also no slouch in the high flying department either; comfortable with diving off the top rope in spectacular fashion if such an option proves necessary to score a victory. He can also perform power moves that seem out of place for his weight-class, yet are possible due to his "strange linage". Consider him a technical high flyer, but with the ability to be as strong and as dominating as a heavyweight when needs must.
