Jackson’s apartment
10AM
Jackson is in front of his computer and he’s adjusting his webcam. He is sitting on his couch and he’s well dressed. He’s wearing a grey suit with a white shirt and black tie. When he ended up checking the webcam and microphone’s settings he opened skype and waited a few minutes. Suddenly, a message appeared. “Wang1042 wants to add you.”
Jackson: There you are.
Jackson accepted the friend request and Wang1042 went online. He received a webcam request and after a few seconds loading a person wearing a clown mask appeared.
Wang1042: Hello.
Wang’s voice was distorted. It was obvious that person didn’t want to be recognized.
Jackson: Hi. My friend told me about…
Wang quickly interrupted Jackson.
Wang1042: I know. I know everything. This conversation will be fast. Tell me what you want and I’ll tell you the price and send you an account number. You’ll transfer the money to that account. You can type your address through skype and you’ll receive the device. We’ll never meet again and you won’t tell anyone we had this talk.
Jackson: Ugh… How do I know you won’t steal me?
Wang1042: I am sure Matt Carter recommended me for a reason.
Jackson: Right… Fine. I want a device to hack someone’s mobile phone. Is that possible?
Wang1042: Of course. I’ll type you the amount and the account number. You have one day to send the money or the purchase will not proceed. Once I receive the money I will send you the device.
Jackson: Alright. You’ll receive the money today, don’t worry.
Wang1042: Type your address.
Jackson: Alright.
Wang took a notepad and started to copy Jackson’s apartment’s address.
Wang1042: I got your address. Remember, this conversation never happened. It was a pleasure to make business with you.
“Wang1042 is offline”. After a few seconds, the account didn’t exist. It was like that video chat never indeed happened. Jackson needed a device to hack Charles Robinson’s phone. He was sure that man would lead to something huge regarding his father’s murderer. He took a huge risk because what he was doing was illegal, but what did he have to lose? He had to do everything to find truth and accomplish justice to his family.
Jackson: I’ll make you proud father. Whatever it takes.
Coffee shop in New York City
11AM
Jackson entered in a coffee shop. A journalist from the website WrestlingAction.COM asked him to make an interview about his last match against Caliban, his future match at Revenge against Jeff Purse and Jay Omega and about some other wrestling matters. He looked for the journalist as he noticed almost every table was occupied. Some people were staring at him. Most of them knew Jackson and was looking at him with an angry look but others were smiling and excited to see him. Some hated Jackson because of his over-confidence and dirty style on the ring but others loved him because of his fighter attitude and hard-work. After a few seconds he saw an arm being raised.
Jackson: There you are.
Jackson went towards the journalist, named David, and gave him a firm handshake.
David: Thank you so much for meeting me here.
Jackson: No problem.
David: Can I offer you anything? A coffee maybe? Something to eat?
Jackson: A coffee would be great.
David called the waitress and asked for a coffee. Jackson realized David was really happy to be interviewing him. Or maybe he was just being polite. David smiled at him as he started some chitchat about wrestling and journalism. Jackson wasn’t listening. Why would he? He hated those types of conversations. He was always direct on his relations. He avoided gossips, conflicts and intrigues. And yet somehow those things were always chasing him. He didn’t want his friend Matt to be involved in illegal activities, he didn’t want his father to die and even worse, he didn’t imagine solving his dad’s murderer would me something so complex.
David: Mr. Jackson?
Fuck. Jackson was so focused on his own thoughts he didn’t pay attention to what was happening in the real world.
Jackson: Sorry.
David: It’s okay. Shall we start?
Jackson: Sure.
David: First question, how do you feel about your lost against Caliban last Slam? Will it affect your match at Revenge?
Jackson: As you know, I am from Portugal. I love to listen to Portuguese music and there’s an artist named “PZ” that I love. One of his songs has a sentence that is adequate to my current situation. Translated, it is something like “If you have trouble with the past, open a door to the future. If you have trouble with the present, break your recurring break”. I was demotivated to that match so I failed. It was a mistake. I must raise my head to what’s in front of me and not what happened in the past. I will face two experienced wrestlers at Revenge and I got to be ready for them. What happened last Slam against Caliban can’t happen again.
David: So are you confident about facing Jeff Purse and Jay Omega?
Jackson: Yes, I am. I mean, it will be a handicap match because I don’t think Ultimate Destroyer has what it takes to help me beat them but in my opinion my chances to win are pretty high. Jay Omega may be a former United States Champion and a former Hardcore Champion, but I defeated Marc Mayhem in the past, and he’s a former Hardcore Champion. Besides that, me and Dune defeated the teams of Scarecrow and Alex Richards, Thomas Bates and Mikey eXtreme and Night Rider and Oblivion. There were former and current champions on that match and I beat them. Belts are overrated. I admit that I wanted titles at first, but there are so many things to conquer first before winning gold… At Sunday I have the chance to pin two of the best wrestlers in WCF. That gives me more prestige and respect than winning a meaningless title.
Jay Omega is rusty. He hasn’t fought since Marc Mayhem injured him. That’s the thing that makes me pretty confident for Revenge. Jay Omega is also weak. He couldn’t handle an attack from an average wrestler like Marc Mayhem was. How could he let himself get beaten by a man who was in the most ridiculous tag-team WCF has ever had? Besides, if The Omega Man is put out of action by the man I once defeated on a singles match my odds to injury Jay again and consequently win the match are really high. My guess is that Omega will be scared to be injured again. I mean, we, wrestlers, risk our bodies on every single match, but I am sure Jay is currently more concerned than the rest of us. However, it’s obvious he’ll make his way to the ring with that arrogant look on his face like he always is to hide the fact that on the inside he is worried something goes wrong on that ring. That’s probably the only thing Destroyer will be useful on this match. That guy is a psychopath so it can mess with Omega’s mind.
David: It seems like you don’t like Jay Omega. What do you have to say about that?
Jackson: I have to be honest, I don’t like any member of Pantheon except for Scarecrow. They are all cocky and cowards. Besides, they have a drunken, junkie, lunatic called Alex Richards on their group. I don’t understand how they think they are the best stable in WCF. Yes, they have each other’s backs all the time, but there are limits! I was exchanging a few words on Twitter with Alex Richards before I was going to face him for the Internet Title and Jay Omega messed with me when the matter wasn’t related to him. Do you know what it looked like to me? It seemed Jay Omega was like making sure Alex Richards didn’t say anything wrong or offensive so WCF fans wouldn’t judge Pantheon. I bet Richards was drunk or high while he was tweeting, so Jay Omega had to say something so people wouldn’t notice it. Besides, that only show weakness because Alex Richards wasn’t even capable of defending himself against a few words without being helped by his boyfriend Jay Omega.
But I understand why Omega is an asshole. He is used to get everything he wants. He was born rich, so he didn’t have to work hard to earn money and have a stable life. He’s like a stupid, dumb, arrogant, poisonous teenage girl that demands that everything is like she wants. I bet that when he was a kid his parents gave him everything he wanted or he started to cry and making a scene. They didn’t educate their child and now they have a talented wrestler, I have to admit, but an awful person. I don’t even understand how the fans like him. But I don’t understand wrestling fans at all, because they shouldn’t be supporting a man who had to do nothing to be successful. I worked hard my entire life to have a job and to earn my own salary. My father worked his entire life to provide me and my mother a great life. He wasn’t born near rivers of money like Jay Omega! My grandfather immigrated to America because he needed to find a better job. Life in Portugal back then was difficult. My whole family is filled with humble, hard-worker and righteous people.
David: Alright, now talking about Jay Omega’s partner, Jeff Purse, what do you have to say about him?
Jackson: He is an ill person and he’s just another freak to add to the mountain of insane people WCF has on its roster. We have bipolar people, we have guys who talk to imaginary friends and we have Jeff Purse. We have a dude that will pause the match he’s in, for more important it may be, to go fix something that for him is not right. It doesn’t make any sense to me! I know he’s a successful wrestler and he won several titles in the past but what does he have to show nowadays? I’m sure he’s just like Corey Black, Zombie McMorris, FPV, Remus Micayle and John Barber. He’s a loser like all of them. There’s a time for everyone to retire but I guess Jeff Purse made a mistake and returned. Maybe he’s too obsessed in correcting something he feels is wrong in WCF that he didn’t realize the error he made by fighting again! Yeah, he defeated WCF’s boss recently but Seth is a drunk and he’s an awful wrestler. However, it was interesting to see a match between a man with OCD and an alcoholic, it looked like two children having a fight in the middle of a school.
David: Ok, I think I asked everything I wanted to. Thank you for your time Mr. White! Good luck for your match.
Jackson: No problem. Thank you!
Carter’s Industries
3PM
Jackson is wearing a grey suit and sunglasses. He was exactly dressed like Doug and they were both next to Matt’s limo. They had his arms stretched down in the position securities usually are. Jackson was actually enjoying being a security. He could use his wrestling skills to beat some NY Kings members and he was doing something to help his father.
Jackson: When can we start to beat the crap out of some stupid niggers?
Doug: What? Man, relax. For now we have to wait for Matt to leave the building. I mean, he may even stay there working, I don’t know what his plans are for today. When he wants to do something big he usually tells me.
Jackson: So you’re saying we are not going to chase anyone from the NY Kings?
Doug: Jackson, I’ve already told you I don’t know what Matt wants to do today. What’s happening? You’re so excited you look like a child on a car trip.
Jackson: I’m sorry, I’ll try to be calm. I’m just happy because I feel my father’s investigation is finally leading somewhere.
Doug: What did you find out?
Jackson almost screwed things up. He was just about to open his mouth and tell Doug he saw Matt’s father talking to Charles Robinson. That would be bad. What would Matt do if he knew Jackson had been spying on his dad? Besides, what if Mr. Carter is involved on his father’s murderer? He may get himself in trouble or maybe killed. Who knows?
Jackson: I… The other day I… Well, I’ve been asking a few questions to… some people.
Jackson was stammering. Doug found it strange but well, “The Fenix” was so excited about helping Matt and being doing something important to find out who killed his father that he ignored his reaction. After a few minutes, Matt opened the Carter Industries’ main door and entered the car. Jackson and Doug followed him as the driver asked Matt what the direction would be.
Matt: My secret location.
Jackson: Where are we going?
Matt: You’ll see.
Doug found it odd. Matt’s secret location is usually a place Matt uses to torture, interrogate and kill his enemies. Why would he want to go there now? After a few minutes of an awkward silence, since Matt seemed angry they arrived at the destination. They all left the car, except for the driver who stood by the steering wheel. Matt signed Jackson and Doug to follow him and they enter what seemed an abandoned warehouse. There were just a few chairs and tables and everything else was empty. It was dirty and there were some graffitis on some walls.
Matt: This is the place you can use to find stuff about your father’s murderer. I won’t mess with your affairs, I have too much respect for your father to stop you from investigating his murderer.
Jackson: Wow, thank you Matt.
Jackson was distracted for a few seconds as he looked around the warehouse. Matt took advantage of that and grabbed Jackson’s arm, pulling him towards his right hand. He punched Jackson’s nose as he fell on the ground. Matt mounted him and was ready to punch him one more time but Jackson grabbed his arm and punched him on the nose too. Then White got up and kicked Matt right in the stomach as Doug quickly intervened and helped his boss.
Jackson: What the fuck is wrong with you?
Matt: As I won’t interfere in your stuff, you can’t mess with mine!
Jackson: What are you talking about?
Matt: Why were you spying my father? Huh? Explain that to me Jackson! Why?
Jackson: I was not spying your father!
Matt: You fucking liar!
Matt escaped from Doug’s hands and jumped to Jackson trying to punch him. Jackson dodged it and choked him as he laid Matt on the ground. Doug grabbed Jackson and Matt held his neck as he tried to breathe.
Jackson: I am a professional wrestler, don’t you remember that? Besides that, I am honest. I am telling the truth. I always do. I was spying on Charles Robinson. In case you didn’t know, he was investigating my father’s murderer and suddenly he was removed from the investigation. I asked him why and his answer didn’t convince me. But it’s nice to know that you don’t trust me. Don’t you forget I don’t trust you anymore because you gave me reasons for that. I never gave you reasons for you to doubt my word. I’ll take a cab, fuck you Matt. See you on another day.
Jackson left the warehouse as Matt cleaned the blood from his nose and tried to get up with Doug’s help.
