Crime scene in New York City
10AM
A corpse is on the ground and there are many investigators, policemen and detectives surrounding it. Some are taking photos, others are interrogating witnesses and others are still putting a yellow trip that says in large letters “CRIME SCENE – DO NOT PASS”. In the middle of the chaotic scenario there is Jackson White. He approaches a police officer that was controlling the area, making sure nobody trespassed it.
Jackson: Good morning, can I talk to detective Charles Robinson?
Police officer: Sir, as you can see detective Charles is currently investigating a murder, talk to him later if you don’t mind.
Jackson: It’s important that I talk to him now, I’ll be busy in the afternoon.
Police officer: I’m sorry sir but I can’t let anyone pass.
Jackson: You’re only competent when it doesn’t matter.
Police officer: Excuse me?
Jackson: Forget it, I’ll just call him. Detective Charles! Hey! Detective Charles!
Jackson started to whistle and waving his arm as he called for detective Charles. He was a tall man wearing a suit and was smoking a cigar while reading some documents regarding the victim’s identification. Charles was 45 and he was an experienced detective. He solved many known cases in New York City and had a very high reputation. He looked to Jackson as he, really loud, asked if he could talk to him.
Charles: I’m busy now.
The detective ignored Jackson as he continued to read the paper as he walked around the corpse and took a few looks on it.
Jackson: Sir, I am Anthony White’s son.
Charles stopped and stared at Jackson, surprised. He got out of the crime scene and passed under the yellow tape as he gave a firm handshake to Jackson.
Jackson: Hello sir, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I just wanted to ask you a few questions about my father’s murderer. I’m sure you’re aware of the case.
Charles: Yes, I remember it. It was an attempt of robbery that went wrong, right?
Jackson: Right, and then there were not enough proofs to advance the case so it had to be closed. I just found out one thing that made me particularly puzzled. You were the lead detective on the case and after a few weeks you were backed out from it and moved to a different one. May I ask you what happened?
Charles took one last drag on the cigarette and put it to the ground. He stared at Jackson for a while and after a few seconds he finally talked.
Charles: Look, I know it’s hard for you to move on, especially when you were by your dad’s side when he was shot. But trust me, don’t involve yourself in matters that are beyond your reach.
Jackson: What do you mean?
Charles took a deep breath as he scratched his head.
Charles: It’s complicated son, there were not sufficient evidences to accuse anyone, the case was strange… I don’t know, I felt that something was not right so I became really obsessed about the case. I barely managed to sleep… My boss took me out of the case because I was taking it to a personal level. I mean, back then I used to investigate a gang called “The NY Kings” and the crime weapon was indeed the pistols that they usually use… The thing is, there were not any finger prints on it so we just couldn’t proof that the gang was involved on that murderer.
Jackson: Yes, I think the NY Kings have something to do with it.
Charles: But follow my advice, let it go. I’m sorry for your father, I am sure he was a great man, but trust me, it will only make things worse. I’ve got to go now. It was a pleasure to meet you.
Jackson: Thank you for the help.
Charles got back to his current investigation and Jackson left the area. He wasn’t convinced, he didn’t know why, but he felt that Charles was hiding something. Maybe he was being paranoid as usual, or maybe he was right. He didn’t know but he had to follow his gut.
Jackson’s apartment
12AM
Jackson is relaxing on his couch before having lunch with his girlfriend, Jennifer. He’s watching a movie that is a parody of the TV series “Sons of Anarchy”. The movie is called “Sons of Greed”. The main characters on that movie are called Thomas Baten and Michael Liberal. They are riding on their motorcycles while talking.
Thomas Baten: Hey, Michael instead of selling guns do you know what we should do to bring more money to the club?
Michael Liberal: What?
Thomas Baten: We should train to be professional wrestlers.
Michael Liberal: Nah… I am not a man of extremes you know? I’m fine like this.
Thomas Baten: Dude what we do is more extreme than fighting some people!
Michael Liberal: Imagine the injuries you could have if you started to wrestle.
Thomas Baten: You can get shot by selling guns to other gangs! You’re so fucking dumb, Michael. For fuck’s sake…
Michael Liberal: I hate you Thomas. It always has to be the way you want. Everything in the club has to go as you please. I’m sick of that.
Thomas Baten: Then leave the club and hang out with your boyfriend Sock!
Michael Liberal: Sock is a better friend than you! You’re an asshole Thomas!
Thomas Baten: How the fuck is Sock a better friend than me if he doesn’t even exist?
Michael Liberal: Fuck you! I hope your whole family dies with AIDS!
Thomas Baten: How do you dare to insult the Baten’s dynasty?!
Thomas hits Michael’s motorcycle and he falls in the middle of the road. Baten continues his travel and Michael gets up hurt by the fall.
Michael Liberal: We don’t need the club to live, right Sock?
Sock: Yeah Michael! We can be happy together!
Suddenly, a rabbit appears.
Rabbit: Hey, what’s up sock?
Jackson: What an awful movie. But well, it reminded me about the DRG somehow. They just don’t go away. First it was Gemini Battle, then it was Spencer Adams, after that Thomas Bates, then, at Ultimate Showdown, Bates, Battle and Doug Murdock. On Sunday, Bates again and of course, Mikey Extreme. This fucking lunatic is ridiculous. He is probably the strangest man in DRG. Even his United States Championship’s reign was laughable. Yes, he defeated Marc Mayhem and Scarecrow but on his first title defense he lost it! I’m better than him. I am sure I am. I defeated Marc Mayhem once too and even though I lost against Scarecrow I’ve been having great performances on the past few weeks.
Since I returned, the only person that pinned me was Scarecrow and it was on the 12th of July! It’s been almost a month since I lost by pin. This is my opportunity for revenge. Yes, I want revenge from the DRG. I’ve said this quite a lot: success makes Thomas Bates cocky. He just defended the Trios Title successfully and won the USA Title at Ultimate Showdown. He’ll enter that ring on Sunday with an arrogant attitude and I must take advantage of that. Remember what happens when Bates has enough things on his hands? He always drops it and tries to reach something greater. He currently has two bronze medals on his hands but I am sure he would leave them behind to reach the gold one.
I just laughed my ass off when I read on WCF.com that Spencer Adams is one of the participants of a USA Title Contendership match. If he wins, is he going to defy his president? Or is he going to rebel and try to steal the United States Championship? I am sure Thomas Bates is worried about that. He’s concerned that his power will be defied. He’s scared that the attentions are not on him anymore. He always says that all club members must do what’s the best for it, but honestly, I think Bates thinks the club is himself. He’s wrong. Gemini Battle was the one that pinned Henson to make DRG retain the Trios Championship. He and Doug Murdock made a huge effort on that match and Bates was just saving himself for the main-event. I noticed that. He put his interests above the club’s. Doesn’t that make him a selfish man? How can a club’s president think more about himself than about the club?
And of course Seth put the president and his shadow on this match. Yes, Mikey is just Thomas’s companion. He’s DRG’s vice-president but he has the same value as the others members. I mean, he’s not even one third of the Trios Champions he’s just a meaningless member of a dying stable. It’s a matter of time until they lose their titles. If Spencer Adams faces Bates for the title a huge revolution will happen. Just picture this: Spencer and Thomas will be arguing a lot and that match will definitely divide them. Mikey Extreme and Danny Anderson will remember their matches for the USA Title and will begin to argue too. The club will be ruined. To be honest, I’ll be sad if that happens. I just wished DRG didn’t cross my path on WCF anymore, but since that doesn’t happen I’ll have to crush them.
Jackson took a look on his watch and quickly got up of the couch, took his keys and left his home.
Restaurant in New York City
13PM
Jackson arrived at the restaurant a bit puffy. He saw Jennifer on a table a little far away from the entrance, drinking water. She smiled at him while she was waving. He smiled forcibly and kissed her as he quickly sit down and read the menu.
Jennifer: I’m sorry again, Jackson.
Jackson: Sorry for what?
Jennifer: For your cousin, of course… What else would it be?
Jackson: Oh, right.
Jennifer: Are you okay? It looks like nothing happened.
Jackson shrugged.
Jennifer: Talk to me Jackson! You are so apathetic…
Jackson: What do you want me to say? Sarah died. My father died too. I’m used to lose people I love.
The waiter came and interrupted the conversation. They ordered their lunch and Jackson got up and went to the toilet. Jennifer regretted her attitude. She didn’t want to force Jackson to talk to her about how he felt. He came back after a few minutes.
Jennifer: Sorry, Jackson. I didn’t want to…
Jackson interrupted her.
Jackson: That’s fine, I understand, you thought it was strange for me to be so neutral. Her death was sudden and I wasn’t expecting it, I just feel… empty. She was my cousin but she was a really good friend too. She was kind, humble and faithful. I’m sad to see her go but I know that crying and being depressed doesn’t solve anything. I’ll support my family on her funeral and then I’ll just move on.
Jennifer: I think that’s a mature attitude, but it’s okay to feel sad…
Jackson: I don’t care.
Jennifer: You’re so aggressive to me… I said I was sorry…
Jackson: And I forgive you.
Jennifer: Then why are you talking to me like this?
Jackson: Jennifer… Let’s just talk about something else.
Jennifer: Yeah, okay…
Jackson: Did you watch Ultimate Showdown?
Jennifer: Of course… I have to write an article about that shit. There were so many matches… I’m so fucked… But well, you were great honey, it was not your fault that you lost the match.
Jackson: Yeah, I know. It doesn’t matter now. I have a different challenge ahead of me.
Jennifer: One of your opponents is Scarecrow again… I know you admire him. Your fight for the People’s Championship was really good!
Jackson: I actually do. He’s the proof that you don’t need to win prestigious titles to be one of the best wrestlers in the entire world. He’s a great man and he has everything that I admire. He’s an inspiration. However, it would be awesome to beat him. It would show me that I’ve been evolving. Damn it, being on some Slams’ main-events is a huge step forward.
But talking about Scarecrow, he’s a humble and confident man. The thing is, like many other wrestlers in WCF he has a flaw that I don’t have. He cares about other people and what they think about him. Yes, he for example, defeated Odin Balfore at Explosion to proof that he was able to beat one of the best legends that stepped on a WCF ring. But I also think he did that to show off. It’s a huge deal to beat one of the best wrestlers ever, so he was probably thinking about the image that he would have in the wrestling world. Just take a look at his entrance, Jennifer. It looks like he’s feeding from the fans’ cheering. He’s not so different from his partner Alex Richards. He’s an addict too, except he’s addicted to positive reactions by the fans.
The waiter came with their lunch and interrupted Jackson. The waitress put the plates on the table and they both started to eat. However, Jackson kept talking.
Jackson: He also has another weak point. He wants the World Title. I mean, he doesn’t want it like someone wants an ice cream on Summer time, he desires it like two long-distance lovers want each other when they’re months without seeing each other. I bet he dreams about that title every single night he lays on his bed, on his car or wherever he sleeps.
But that’s Karma. Do you know why? Because Pantheon’s members are cowards. Scarecrow is probably the only exception on that stable. Remember when I had a title shot against Alex Richards for the Internet title? The match was between me and him and while we were trading some words on Twitter Jay Omega was constantly mocking and threating me. What? Alex Richards can’t defend himself? Is he so dependent of his pals from Pantheon that he can’t handle a battle on his own? Yeah, he held the Internet Title for a long time but he didn’t have a large threat. I’m sure that I was the most dangerous wrestler he faced for that Championship.
Like I was saying, Pantheon members are all cocky, overconfident and cowards. I don’t understand how Scarecrow is happy on that group. He’s a warrior, a passionate wrestler. Alex Richards is a fucking junkie who thinks he can intimidate people. Guess what? He doesn’t scare me. There is a huge possibility that Richards fights next Slam’s main-event drunk. I’ll mess with his head and make him think I have special powers and that I created a clone. Of course, he’ll be just seeing things doubled. Maybe I find out where he is hosted and I’ll send him a bottle of whisky and a bag of weed.
Jennifer: Jackson! Don’t do that…
Jackson: I’m just being nice to my co-workers.
Jennifer: Shut up…
Jackson: Well, are you done? We have to go.
Jennifer: Yes, you’re right, let’s go.
Sarah’s funeral
3PM
There is a coffin on a beautiful garden with many people sit in front of it. Most of them is crying. There is Jackson, Jennifer, Matt, Doug and Jackson’s mom, Mary. There are friends of Matt, Sarah and Matt’s family members and, of course, Sarah’s friends. The story that was told by Matt was that she was kidnapped by unknown individuals. He said that probably it has something to do with Carter Industries. Jackson knew the truth, but even though he hated Matt at that moment he didn’t want to tell anything because he needed to find the truth about his father’s murder first. Jackson was sitting on Matt’s side and started to whisper at him at the same time a priest started to say a few words.
Jackson: You realize I am not beating the crap out of you to respect for Sarah. Even though I don’t believe she is watching us, I realize she deserves a quite funeral and not some bloody mess.
Matt: Let’s not talk about that now, please.
Jackson: It’s your fault she’s right there.
Jackson pointed at the coffin. It was closed since her body was partially burnt so Matt didn’t want anyone to see her.
Jackson: You made your choice and you chose to kill her. You’re a monster, Matt. You’re probably a worse person than my father’s murderer. You’re crueler than Hitler and Stalin together.
Matt: I know I am a fucking asshole Jackson but I didn’t want it to end like this.
Jackson: You’re a liar.
Jennifer: Guys, be quiet, please. Let’s hear.
Priest: And Jesus said to her “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies”. Sarah was a kind girl and she’ll forever live in our hearts.
The coffin was put under the ground as people said the last goodbye to Sarah. They were all crying except for Jackson. He was completely serious and was fixed on her coffin.
Jackson (thinking): They will pay, Sarah. Don’t worry. I’ll revenge you and my father. There will be justice. Truth will find its path and it will crush everyone that hurt you and dad. You’re my family, I always fight for my family. You weren’t supposed to be on that diabolical box. It was not matt that put that house but he was the cause that you died. He’s no longer my best friend. He’s my enemy. But you know… Sometimes you have to work with an enemy to defeat another one. That’s what I’ll do. I’ll fight on Matt’s side but not because of him. Because of you, and my father. I love you Sarah.
Jennifer: I have to go Jackson, and everyone’s leaving anyway.
Jackson: Ok. I’ll visit my father’s grave.
Jennifer: See you tomorrow.
They kissed each other and Jackson head towards his father’s grave. He kneeled in front of it and started to cry a lot. All the emotion he’d been keeping inside now had been expel.
Jackson: Look at me dad. I am a mess without you. Nobody wants to help me finding the truth. Everybody tells me to let it go. You know I am not giving up, right dad? You know that I’m going to pursue your murderer until I die, right? I’m sure you do. I know you believe me. I feel the strength you give me every day when I wake up. I feel the motivation you give me when I step on a wrestling ring. I’ll not disappoint you.
Jackson cleaned his tears and smiled.
Jackson: I’m facing Night Rider again. I faced him at the Ultimate Ninth Battle Royal and now I’m fighting him on a tag-team match. He’s ridiculous, dad. I just admire his determination on finding his pals to reunite his stable. However, it’s probably the weakest group in WCF. I mean, I don’t even know a few members of it. Besides that, I don’t give a single fuck about them. They are nobody on that company. Night Rider won two matches. One of them was a tag-team match in which his partner got the pin and the other one was against a woman. That’s great! Seth humiliates Night Rider and then puts him on the main-event. He must had been drunk when he decided to put Night Rider on this match. I mean, I understand that Oblivion is on this main-event, he’s a dignified wrestler and he’s a veteran, but Night Rider? He’s a fucking joke, dad. He can join Alex Richards on that match and they both get wasted and high and let their respective partners fight.
Oblivion is one more lunatic on this match. We have a man who talks to an imaginary being and we have a bipolar. Not even medicine can help this guy get better. It doesn’t get me nervous that I’m facing a veteran. I’ve defeated FPV, John Barber and Remus Micayle at XIII, Corey Black was on the Ultimate Ninth Battle Royal and I was the last wrestler being eliminated. I am a legend killer. I am new blood. People don’t care about the old wrestlers! They want see the future! And Seth… Seth wants to invest on this company’s future! I bet he just put Night Rider and Oblivion to job for me.
And dad… I have Dune on my side. Seth chose me to be the WCF World Champion’s partner on this match. I’m evolving a lot and I know that I’ll conquer a title soon. Who knows if I’m not fighting Dune next PPV? Or Torture? Let’s see what fate has got reserved for me. I have to go now, dad. I’ll train a bit for my match on Sunday. Guide me dad, please…
