My last two roleplays (for Timebomb), I have been using a public relations manager character to try to "help" Bates with his image. I'm just wondering one thing; should Bates keep him, or fire him? Long Day (The First appearance of "The Manager") A Clown, A Joker, A Mountain (The Second appearance of "The Manager") Storyline wise, Bates' uncle Eric Draven (Alexander James) hired "The Manager" to help Bates, even though he doesn't want it. So, the question is does Bates finally get rid of him, or does he grow on him?

I can't answer that question. Only you can answer that. You can't write for other people you can only write for yourself. If you enjoy writing for the character it'll show in your writing and people will enjoy the character. You can't write for everyone except yourself.

I agree with Alex, you gotta write from the heart. Let the manager develop, think out eccentricities, dialogue, background. The real question is, does this manager guy help the Uriel character? Is Tom's world a better place with him in it?

I would agree with everything above, except the final question of whether Tom's world is the better for the manager. That doesn't matter; he could make Tom's world much worse, so long as he makes it more enthralling to the reader. But yeah, keep him around long enough to get a sense of whether or not you feel you need him; he could wind up evolving into an integral aspect of your character. Or he could play a part in Season One, then up and say "my work here is done", then sprout wings because (surprise!) he's really been an angel this whole time, guiding Tommy to the path of righteousness. Then Season Two sees him replaced with, like, a devilish PR Manager, who tries to push Bates for a heel turn, always steepling his fingers in front of his goatee and shit. The cliffhanger finale sees the return of Angel Manager, setting up Season Three: The War for Tommy's Soul. Because you could totally do that in the WCF.
