(OOC Note: Mostly introspective, mostly in purple italics for Alastair's thoughts and his memories are in red. Also, this is to build up from "A Different Kind of Homecoming"....Enjoy!)
---------------------------------------------------------------
A few hours after getting settled into his hotel room and getting away from Kyoko Iwamoto, David finally has a chance to separate himself from the outside world. Ironically, he looks out to the city outside of the screen window/door of the hotel. The lights pollute the clear night sky, blotting out any chance to see the twinkling stars located oh so far away. David's mind wonders, placing visions and memories to substitute reality...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
David: Tasha, is this what you want for me? To keep me moving? Traveling on the endless road of redemption?
Alastair shakes his head.
David: Ugh, I always question myself. Don't I, Tasha? Heh, it reminds me of the night I proposed to you...
------------------------------------------------------------------
The memory takes the viewer back to a nice restaurant. The typical high-class, fancy chandelier laden, place where you could easily see the rich and famous go to eat. The next shot reveals David suited up in dress clothes and an attractive brunette woman in a sparkling white dress. Both are seated across from each other at a table ....
David smiles as the lady looks around, amazed at what her significant other lured her into...
David: So...? What do you think, Tasha?
Tasha's violet eyes blinked as she proceeds to look to him.
Tasha: Well, David. I hate to say this, but you really pulled some strings this time.
David: Really? I didn't do much...
Tasha smirks and shrugs.
Tasha: Same old David Alastair. Humble at every turn. You're too good. Too good at wooing a poor, city-girl such as myself....
Alastair raises an eyebrow.
David: And that means?
Tasha: ...I'm impressed. But if this what I'm expecting this to be...
Alastair turned away sheepishly. He turns back, nervously chuckling.
David: No...No, not really. You know, it's just a nice night on the town. Something couples should do every once in a while.
Tasha responds by rolling her eyes.
Tasha: And somehow, I know that you have something. David, I can read you like a book. You're terrible at lying, especially with this one. The nice restaurant, us dressing up, and the other stuff...
She takes a deep breath, and continues as Alastair looks on.
Tasha: Don't think too much, David. It can kill you someday, trying to figure stuff out and what not. I mean, as a police officer, sometimes you have to go by your gut feeling. Your instinct. So...don't spend too much time questioning...
She then winks and points to her head.
Tasha: Don't think here.
And then, points her to the left portion of her chest.
Tasha: Sometimes, you have to use here to do some of the thinking...
David looks at her quizzically.
David: Your left breast does thinking for you? Hmmm...that's wei--
Tasha puts a hand over her face in disgust.
Tasha: No. Your heart, David. Gah damn, you're a little too perverted...
She then sighs.
Tasha: I know what you got in your pocket. Now, you can't have any better timing than this...
David shrugs and hands her a tiny, black case.
David: I hope you like it...
Tasha opens it, her eyes widening at the sight. Simply put, she sat there in awe for a good moment and looks up at David...
David smiles.
David: How about it? Will you marry me?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The memory starts to give way to reality as David hears a knocking on the door. As he starts to go see who is knocking at this time, he looks up for a brief second or two...
David: Gut instinct, right? Well, that's why I still love you, Tasha.
He opens the door to find Kyoko standing in the hallway. David blinks a bit, tilting his head to the side.
David: Is something the matter, Ms. Iwamoto?
Kyoko: Heh, I'm more worried about you than I am to myself. I mean, look...it's almost one in the morning. You have a big day tomorrow. You need some sleep...
David: I will. Thanks for caring, Ms. Iwamoto.
Kyoko: Hey, you don't have to call me that. Just call me Kyoko.
David: Alright. Good night, Kyoko.
Kyoko: Good night, David.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
David closes the door behind him.
David: Indeed. I, in fact, do have a big day tomorrow.
David smiles as the scene fades to black.
